Animemax

This may seem like a stupid thread, but I don't know that much about anime-I've maybe seen 15 entire series. I don't have a broadband connection, so I can't download shows, either.

Anyway, I found Animemax.net's site and was amazed at how cheap shows were. I know 90% are English subbed, but the dubbed 10% still looks cheap. One I remember offhand was Azumanga Daioh with both English and Japanese dubs for $29.95. I paid $45.00 for the series at Best Buy. Gunslinger Girl series was $9.95, and I paid about $50.00.

So what I was hoping someone would know is: Are the dubbed shows identical to the domestic offerings? I would think so. I could buy a LOT more anime at these prices, but I don't want to find out that there's something odd. Thanks!

I don't know about buying anime online...

I only you were in Brunei. Most anime range from $3, $5, $6 and $12. Bleach and Naruto is one of the $3 for a single three episode VCD box. $5 is for a dvd box containing three or four episodes. $6 are for 13 - 11 episodes like the anime Meloncholoy of Suzumiya and $12 is for...um..I forgot ^^;

There are VCD box sets and DVD boxsets too. VCD boxsets could be between 30-ish or 20-ish Brunei dollars. DVD boxsets are mostly original so they're usually higher in price like $99 for a single Yu Yu Hakusho season. Some could be around fifty something or forty something. (not too sure really)

Brunei, huh? That seems like a very nice place from what little I've seen on TV-except for typhoon season!

I'm pretty sure they're the same English voices as the USA releases. But I saw a CD at a store a couple of years ago. It was 1990s music compilation. It was pretty cheap, so I bought it. Turned out it was done by "The Countdown Singers", or some sh-t. So now when I see a cheap price I wonder...

All the anime up here in Canada is bloody expensive. I only buy the full length movies because buying individual episodes costs an arm and a leg.

HMV has the best selection, but I think its about $26 (CAD) for a DVD with 3 or 4 episodes of any series. They charge $40 for any anime movie than isn't part of a series (the inuyasha movies are $26).

So any series' I watch are part of our regular cable programming. Unfortunatly my internet connection is too slow to watch them online.
