Im just wondering if anyone is a little scared about going in the water after they heard that steve irwin was killed by a sting ray. Im just wondering if people are afraid of sting rays now, and if we will see a repeat of the jaws effect. I would like to remind people that in the fiesta islands they have a place called sting ray city where you can feed wild sting rays that are the same species that killed steve, and no one has ever been stung mind you.  Japanese girls love Darth Vader...... |

I wouldn't worry about stingrays, the probability of a stingray attaching you (let alone killing you) is very very low. The only reason that the bullray attacked Steve was because he had accidentally boxed the ray in thus out of fear, the bullray retaliated. Only around 17 people have ever actually been killed by a sting ray (in fact, the fatality rate caused by rabbits is actually higher than sting rays). Chances are, unless you seriously scare the crap out of the ray and it is cornered, than you probably will not suffer the same tragedy as Irwin did.

Nope, no stingrays in Brunei. But there are jeelyfish. I fear them most than sharks whenever I go in the water. Got stung once. Not by the actual jeelyfish but a piece of it. I remember it was blue and my arm went numb with pain for a day and a half. Its funny how something so small could cause such pain =_=  |

Nope not scared of em... not much chance of me meeting any stingrays here anyway and so I never saw a real 'life' one with my own eyes before. Saw a dead jellyfish by the beach once. |

| nah... i dont think i'm afraid of em. since i dont go near the waters too often. besides, i've never seen a live one before so i dont know if i'm afraid of it until i see it for myself. ^^ |

I do afraid of it now. Due to the famour croc hunter died from stingray. Due to the tail which have a deadly sting. How i used to like eating stingray, and now. no thanks. i'll skip it.  |

You guys and gals should come to San diego and visit Sea World. They have an awesome thing where you can touch the bat rays, they're like big soft puppy dogs with vaccums for mouths. An intersting tidbit, the most poisionous of all jellyfish is the irukandgi. Its only anout 3 inches long and only has four tentacles. The potency of its poision however is so srtong that a full sting will kill a man in less tha three minutes. This however is not the most poisionous animal, that title belongs to the poision arrow frog, with the textile cone snail ranking secound. Stingrays starts to hurt other animals when they are disturb... and also I think it is their tail thjey use for protection...O__O Anyway, I am more likely afraid of sea snakes and jellyfish than stingrays... becuase....T__T nevermind...

Stingrays deaths are rare... Irwin's death was simply a freak accident... Like Joan, im more afraid of Sea Snakes and Jellyfish (although... ill be lying if i said im not scared to be swimming near a stingray... The fact that i dont know how the stingray would act/think towards me swimming with it scare me... )  Kneel Before the Great and Benevolent Cow! |

No, I was never afraid of stingrays, not even now with Steve's Death and all. If you mess with them you'll pay the consequences, that's all you need to know (I guess so) I'm afraid of Jellyfish (a tiny one once bite me, it's a painful experience), and also sharks (remeber the movie?, with that scary song and everything?)   |

im afraid of the stingray's tail.. here in our country .. stingray's tails are cutted and used as a weapon like..a whip..old people believe it is a weapon for "evil spirits" while we.. the young people use it for fighting!! wahahah! yes.. u see the tails is sharp and really stings wen it hurts u..one whip on you and itll make u feel pain for 1 week! including high fevers! hahaha!  |
