I'm trying to run Jedi Outcast on my PC. Now Jedi Outcast itself is an old game for those who remember it. And my PC isn't that old itself with Windows XP and about 1 GHz and 20 GB of memory with a NVIDIA GeForce 2 MX graphics card. When I installed the Outcast, there's a button to check if the PC meets the game's requirements. Everything checks out for mine. But when I'm trying to run the game, there's an error that says "cannot load the OpenGL subsystem." I looked at the troubleshooting guide said to check if the graphics card is supported and it is. It still says "cannot OpenGL subsystem." What am I still doing wrong? |

i'm not sure if this will really help but, try this site(it may seem nothing much but it talks about OpenGL for games in Windows). then, visit this site and download and install the Voodoo 3 Driver Kit for Win XP Open GL Support 1.08.00. |

No, no, no. Don't go downloading any voodoo drivers. Go to the Nvidia site and install the latest GeForce drivers. See where that gets you. FYI, OpenGL is an open source graphics library. An alternative to Microsoft's DirectX, only cross platform, thanks to the open source part. Games and programs written for OpenGL will run on Macs and Linux systems too. I don't know what your problem may be yet, but background information is always good. For more info: Wikipedia |

Thanks for all your guy's help! I thought it would help to look at the gamefaqs.com message boards about this game and there was the same problem like mine. The solution was to update the drivers. I browsed around google and got led to the nVidia site and downloaded ForceWare Release 90 Version: 91.47 for Windows XP. Now Jedi Outcast RUNS PERFECTLY!! THANKS SOOO MUCH EVERYONE! Now the only problem is not getting sick from the old fat monitor... |
