No Sound...

I have a problem with my computer. I'm not sure if there is a thread like this, but il post this anyways. I have no sound coming from my computer. The sound card is properly inserted into the socket of the motherboard, the speakers work fine, the plug outlet works fine, the speakers are inserted properly into the jack.

However, I dont see the volume control. When i go to accessories, entertainment, Volume Contorl, something pops up and says "There are no active mixer devices available. To install the mixer devices, go to Control Panel, click Printers and Other Hardware, and then click Add Hardware. This program will now close"I did what is said. Nothing happened. I got my audio disk and re-installed it. Nothing. Even went to services in the control panel and it said my audio card is fine, and is installed properly.
I currently use a C-Media AC97 (my sound card), and I know it works perfectly fine, cause i used it before.
So if anyone was to respond to this thread, I'd really appreciate it.

No.

firstly, use the device manager to check if the driver for the sound card is installed.if it's installed, check to see if there's an '!' mark or a 'x' mark on the device.if it's a 'x',it's disabled.enable it and check if sound is playing. if it's a '!' try reinstalling the soundcard driver.

If you say that the sound card is properly inserted to your motherboard, there is some instances why it doesn't work to your PC.

1. Operation System Compatibility: If your sound card is not compatible to your operating system, the computer cannot recognize it as an hardware (probably it state as unknown hardware). This is one of the possible problem why your sound card don't work because you say while ago that the SPEAKER VOLUME control is unseen in your taskbar.

You said: I dont see the volume control. When i go to accessories, entertainment, Volume Contorl, something pops up and says "There are no active mixer devices available. To install the mixer devices, go to Control Panel, click Printers and Other Hardware, and then click Add Hardware. This program will now close"

2. Driver: Incorrect driver information can make your sound card don't work in your operating system. Make sure to get a better driver for that hardware. If you don't have updated driver, just serf on the site of the purchased hardware.

3. Sound Card Failure: Some chips is malfunctioning in your sound card so it doesn't run or the Slot where you inserted the Sound card have problems, like my Adaptec Sound Card at home. The problem of that is...

a. If it is exposed to static, ground, or any dirt and short-circuits.
b. If your sound card have molds, dirt, or even rust in the circuit.
c. Viruses and Worms= I don't know if someone knows this, but some of my classmates says that the chip of a certain sound card can be virused by a worm. But this information is not too close to your problem (I don't know if it works now a days).
d. The circuit around the PCI Slot have some problems, some dirt is blocking the slot for the Sound card, or the PCI Slot have some problems.

For some information on how to fix your problem, go to the website of the brand of your Sound Card and find its System Support Services. You can also contact or serf your OS Website for some compatibility features.

I hope this can help you. If not, you can ask us later.
