Pluto got demote from its status as a planet that jsut cant be Pluto has been a planet for several years. I still dont understand why pluto gt demoted but something has to be done to get back the status of planet to pluto. Please lets save pluto I beg all of you lets save pluto even if you dont care Please help save pluto |

Pluto is part of the Kuiper belt, so at best it is a planetoid. Historic acceptance is neither reason nor justification for scientific classification. In other words, it was wrong to call it a planet in the first place, so we might as well get used to it. The definition of a planet is a "spherical ball of rock and/or gas that orbits a star." Just how big of a ball and how nice of an orbit is up to interpretation. If you ask me, its not the size that counts, its the orbit! All the inner 8 planets have relativly stable orbits. Pluto has a wacky skewed orbit. So does "planet" Xena. If you look at the solar system from a distance, you can see a clear distinct beginning of the Kuiper belt. Let us agree that anything inside the belt or in the Oort cloud is not eligable for planetary status, even if there is a pluto-sized object in there! Besides, by re-classifying Pluto, we are not hurting the planet(oid), its still out there. We don't need to "save" it! The dude who discovered it needs to be respected and not forgotten. (what was his name again?)

Yes i know but its just sad. And i think pluto will dissapear in a way beacause in evey text book or enciclopedia from now on pluto wont be part of them so for the generations to come the solar system will only have 8 planets.So it will be forgotten slowly(just the astrologist or whatever they are called will know pluto .Cmon normal people doessnt know any planetoid)by common people so its just sad. ahhaha music from FF6 please, this is a joke. get a life. besides, pluto has more popularity in the news now than it did when it was descovered! christ. it would be nice to actually talk about REAL astronomy.... too bad nobody cares about that anymore...
