Evolution: Supporting Evidence

Evolution is the most widely accepted theory of development in organisms. To further back this theory I would like to give an interesting example. The coelacanth a prehisotric fish thought to have been extinct since the end of the plaeozoic era was found back in the thirties. The fish shares traits with early amphibians of the same era. The two pectoral fins closley ressemble that of and amphibians arms while the back fins ressemble legs. The most interesting trait is the bony plate that makes up the jaw of the fish, it perfectly ressembles that of all amphibians which share that trait. This is just one example as many instances of homologous appendages and structures can be found throughout the animal kingdom, I jus thought this one was interesting and I love coelacanths :)

Man that's cool!

What would you say to people who say the presence of a prehistoric creature in our time shows that evolution's huge span of time may be incorrect?

well I would say that the fish you see in front of you isnt the actual coelacanth from the prehistoric era. Coelacanths used to live in much shallower waters and slowly moved to deeper ones as time passed by (evolution). I would also say that there are prehistoric animals all around us today. For instance sharks have remained relatively unchanged for millions of years, however we have a fossil reocrd showing their progression as time passed. The presence of prehistoric animals in our time gives us a scope of the past and shouldnt be used to contradict the theory of evolution, lets use them as an exmple of whats been.

Indeed those Coelacanth fish are extraordinary creatures.
I was marveled by them as a child, saw one conserved example at a musem, and still am, makes me want to go to the museum this weekend and check it out again, haven't been there in over 10 years.
As feo_muchacho mentioned, sharks are also prehistoric animals, same goes for crocodiles I thought.

I have my own theory of evolution which is more to observation compared to theoratical form. Take for instance, humans tend to adapt well with abuse or situations made by the natural phenomena or enviroments. Take for example, is the disease which is common among us all... a common cold or flu. Our ancestors in the past they will die when they are infected with a common cold or flu. This is because common cold or flu back that time was more a like SARS today. Once they are infected by such disease, their body's immune system can't fight back because the virus is still new to them. But as humans evolved to us today in this modern world, a common cold to us is nothing compared to SARS or the West Nile Virus. Our body's immune system can fight of the common cold easily just by getting a good rest if you happen to be infected by a common cold. Charles Darwin once said that we're evolved from a group of monkeys has became a laughing matter or a disagreeable fact because people that time who matters pride more than logic and science don't want to compare themselves, a well- civilized creatures of the Earth with a bunch of animals or simply they just believe the bible that Adam and Eve can create many decedents eventhough the writers of the bible forgotten the part that Cain killed Abel.

If you want to refer to aquatic creatures, take for instance is the deep sea creatures. The deepest part of the ocean is totally pich black that no light could travel that far. So the creatures which lived there tend to get used to their surroundings by producing their own light and perhaps discard their sense of sight since they don't need it anyway in such pitch black enviroment. Every part of their characteristics has changed completely though they are the same as their cousins as it match suitably by it's surroundings.

This process of adaptation especially how our brains could think differently than our ancestors are a part of the evolution process. No, we won't change our characteristics quickly as our Earth is changing but human evolved or adapt to their new surroundings slowly. Evolution is a wide topic since it cannot be proven by just a snap of your fingers but it can be seen though history though some tend not to accept the truth though truth does hurts alot. But that's the best part about life, right? Proving it now needs a century- of- who -knows- when of period.

If you want more evidence, take for instance is a virus. Virus tend to evolve to be immune to many medicine that we had created just to kill it off... now, sadly... as we found more new ways to cure ourselves, the virus that we are aiming to kill will tend to be immune and perhaps evolved to a deadlier ones like SARS, JE virus, Influnza, West Nile virus and etc. I have alot to tell about this evolution thing but I hope that what I have given as an evidence is proven enough to help you. ^^

Charles Darwin once said that we're evolved from a group of monkeys
What the FUCK are you talking about?
Charles Darwin NEVER EVER said this.
He would laugh at anyone who would!
He noticed close similarities in the body structures of humans and other primates.
To him, it was obvious we were related (albeit distantly) in the same way people who share their mother or father or grandparent's similar traits are related.
It's called heredity.
Humans and cute little curly-tailed monkeys have a shared heritage.
So do humans, monkeys, and all mammals.
So do humans, monkeys, all mammals, and all vertebrates.
So do humans, monkeys, all mammals, all vertebrates, and ALL LIVING CREATURES.
This was a heretical new idea at the time.
Darwin had big balls.

Evolution is a wide topic since it cannot be proven by just a snap of your fingers.
Bollocks! Genetics "proved" Charles Darwin's theory of "Descent with modification" by illuminating the underlying mechanism for both the "descent" and the "modification" in FULL detail (if you say "Intelligent Design" and I will stab you in the jaw).
