Uh, not really. Remember, the manga is drawn by a single artist with a deadline to get to. He has the help of the inker and the toner, but he(she) makes up the story as well. It isn't like here as well where the comic books are produced at a monthly basis. In order to understand, you should know how the typical manga comes to the US.

Manga is originally posted on newspapers in magazines. They can be daily as well as weekly. Of the countless manga that appears in newspapers and magazines, the more well liked and popular ones are compiled together into what is known as "phonebook manga." They are several stories from different authors/artists compiled into a bok of which the quality of the paper and the size resembles a typical American Yellow Pages phonebook (hence phonebook manga). Of the huge amount of phonebook manga stories that are available, the more well recieved once gets reprinted again into a nicer quality, but still phonebook-esque manga reprinted in smaller quantity. Of those, the most heavily demanded once gets reprinted yet again, this time as a single compiled story in a single book (which is now the way that we know manga here in the US). Of the dozens upon dozens of manga books that are available in Japan, a few makes it was to translation and the US market as the ones that you see in the US. If you think about it, the quality is so much supperior in manga because most of them have their origins in newspaper strips. I mean, could Dillbert or Garfield beat the artwork and style of normal mangas?

When it comes to anime, there are several people working on it. Of course they are trying to make it resemble the artist's style, but they also have to make it simplified to make it cheaper. They also have a bigger budget, etc.

The arts in manga are nice, I can't say they're badly drawn--pointing at the background (realistic trees and stuff a.k.a Ragnarok). After all, so much to do, so little time.

It's not necissarily true that the manga art isn't as good as the manga art. Take Arina Tanemura's artwork for instance. She's the author of Full Moon wo Sagashite. I'd say that the artwork in the manga is much nicer and much more elaborate then in the anime. The costumes are more well done in the manga and the eyes are much more...um...sparkly. The art in the anime is nice, but I'd say that the art in the manga surpasses it by far. Well, at least in my opinion.

Maybe why you think the anime artwork is better than the anime is because the anime is in color while the manga is in black and white.

Actually I like the art in the manga better. The seem to put a lot more emotion into the drawings.

Yeah... Seriously. ._.; I'm more for manga than for the anime.

Like some have said, manga has to be produced on a regular basis and on a schedule, so that limits how much detail a mangaka can put into their work. If you look around for cover or poster art, you'd get a better feel for their artistic talent.

To me, manga artwork are actually better than anime's.. I watched some anime and the drawings aren't really good.. But I dun say all anime has bad art..

The only reason why anime (to me) looks bad because the one who draw the art actually have to draw a lot of it.. I think it is called frames.. and because it is so much and so tiring to draw the same thing.. some artists just draw the pictures plainly..

In manga, the artist put their heart and everything else inside what they are doing.. that's why their arts in manga are a lot better than in anime.. For example, Time Stranger Kyoko by Arina Tanemura.. the artworks in the manga are so beautiful but in anime.. it doesn't look the same as in the manga..

In Manga's, the person who drew it, may not be the same person who drew the Animation of one's Anime (based off the Manga).

As I was searching around Wiki, I saw the cover for the InuYasha Manga (not sure which one in specific; tons of Volumes, lol), but the Anime is drawn nicely. Actually, since the first few eps. to now (around in the late 140's I am), the anime looks like it was drawn better and better.

Another point would lay in the Anime of the Dragonball series (well from Dragonball X and after; leave ORG Dragonball out). In the Anime DBZ (or later series), not every ep. is drawn the same. If you pay attention carefully, though I don't think you can miss it, the character's are drawn with either less detail or more detail, which makes me confused if the anime was drawn by more then one person, or if something happened as he/she was drawing them. For an example, you can look at the face (nose, eyes, etc.) to find out. I would display images, but I don't feel like it right now, sorry. XD

As for the subject, I think the Manga would be easier to draw, but once you master the Animation Techniques, it can also be great as well. I love Manga/Anime art all together. That's just me anyways... XD
