How converting .mkv to .avi with subtitle?

| I currently use WinAvi to convert .mkv file to .avi format. However, after the conversion, the avi file don't have subtitle.! I also try install the .mkv codec but no avail. Pls help. Thank you in advance |

you can't convert a .mkv file to and .avi with subs...you'll need to extract the video,sound and subtitle file(commonly in .ssa.,ass,.sub etc etc) first.then embed the subs to the video with VirtualDubMod |

| unless you download the CCCP (COmbined COmmunity Codec Pack ) it comes with all this stuff including a program that lets you whenever you chosse a mkv video u can turn on the subs or change dubs |

Have you try K-Lite Mega Codec Pack ? It's similar to Combined Community Codec Pack but it have more codec. I haven't try to convert an mkv file to avi...but i guess i should try it.   |

im not sure if this will work, but there is a program called Super (id google it as i dont have the link) that can convert files quite niceley. from what ive seen (coverting .flv to .avi) the subs stay. im not sure about your file however, but its worth a shot.

you try to download's the software freeware name's is k-lite codec is can reading any file's.....

After you've converted it to AVI, use VirtualDubMod to render the subtitles on top of it. Just read this guide. |
