Then again, is anyone kind enough to tell me the exact steps to creating a mail server? Or recommend a free smtp server to me? I need to get a lot of things up for my stupid project back in school. Auction site...

well if using php you can try : hmailserver. Has webmail, support for virtual domains, anti virus scanning, and distribution lists. squirrelmail. A standards-based webmail package written in PHP4. It includes built-in pure PHP support for the IMAP.
