Does anyone go to anime conventions? Do you cosplay? Well for anything concerning anime conventions and/or cosplaying at them, this is the thread to chat in. |

anime conventions are weird. REALLY weird. i saw one on my tv. you can cosplay, if u wana, eventhough 90% of the population does there are directors, voice actors, manga writters, unreasonably long lines for autographs, lots of asians, stores that sell little action figures, and thats all i saw. ^^ |

They most certainly are NOT weird. They're probably the most fun things existing on the planet. Go to one. |

It's so crowded but I do want to check one out sometime. It's like Disney World but you go ther for anime and other things involving anime.

It's kewl to go sometimes. You don't have to cosplay if you don't want to. Over half don't cosplay. I certainly don't though my friends do. If you get to a good con, there will eb dealer's rooms to buy stuff and fuel the addiction, vid rooms to show the latest ones available on dvds, one on one talks with profesionals of the industries which can be either the companies, their VAs, directors and animators from Japan, Japanee VAs and singers, sometimes Japanese pop bands will perform a live. If it is a good con, it will also have a lot of participating events like a cosplay contest or AMV awards. |

Do you need to Cosplay when you go there? I've seen some other people on TV that they just showed up in regular clothing but they all had cameras and looked like they worked there or something...XD

There was one in Toronto not long ago but I was into anime a week before that and I didn't have enough time to organize everything. If there is another one soon, I'll be going! ![]() ![]() ![]() |

Wahhh! I wanna go so bad! But I'll probably have to wait till I'm old enough to drive myself to one. I don't want to depend on my parents for something like that. When I become at least 21, I'll cosplay. ~ S.A. |

Doh! I love anime conventions. xO They are a heck of a lot of fun. I've only been to AnimeNext so far, but plan on going to Otakon when I can drive. ^^; I really can't wait at all, it's going to be so much fun. You don't need to cosplay at conventions, though I hear it's a lot more fun when you do. People just love taking pictures of cosplayers. ^^; |

Ive always wanted to go to one. The only reason I havent is that I need to get or make a costume before I go. I like cosplay. |

| do you have people who go willingly w/you or do you have to drag them along?? just wondering..-_- |

You don't really have to have a costume on to go y'know. The way that my friends do it is that they go together. I live in Austin and every year, we go to A-Kon in Dallas. My parents live in Dallas so I just stay in their house for it, but my friends travel together and take the same room - up to 10 people in the room with every floor space taking up a sleeping bag. |

My friend insists on "kidnapping" me to an anime convention because my mom won't let me go. She also insists on me cosplaying which I refuse. I ain't wasting my money on a costume. Sir Bon: You're lucky to live in Austin! I love Austin! I go there as often as I can. Have you been to Ushi-con (I think that's what it's called)? One of my friends went there once. |

I've been to 3 cons now. My first was the Big Apple Anime Fest in NYC...sucks that they don't have it anymore. But yeah, cons are fun if you go with friends... but they can also be very very odd. But hey, I guess thats what it means to be an Otaku ^_^ |

Yup I've been to Ushicon. The best cosplay I've ever seen there is a guy wearing a Solid Snake suit...complete with a Box A that he keeps on hiding under. They said that this year was the last Ushicon and next year it would just be a "fan-gathering." I don't know how that works. I guess I'll find out next January. |
