Help......?
Link | by Ana on 2006-07-04 04:10:08 (edited 2006-07-04 04:12:43)
I've uninstalled my Download Manager a long time ago since it already expired. (I used it to download large .exe files.) And when I came here to download some music, it said that I couldn't download anything because I had a Free Download Manager installed, which is something I don't have anymore. >_< How can I fix this?!

You laugh, I laugh,
You cry, I cry,
You jump out of a window,
.......
I laugh.

i have heard of this happening before.
not having ever used the program myself, i do not know a solution.
it sounds like the uninstaller has failed to remove the "FDM" from the user agent your computer sends to my servers.
since this is a problem on your end, i cannot do anything about it directly.
however, there should be a way to send a correct user agent.
perhaps there is some registry key that needs tweaking, any windows people out there know what to do?
this is just a bit out of my area of expertise.

i also found this advice on the FDM web forum:
Please write to support@freedownloadmanager.org with subject "[need remove]".

and also:

There are several ways:

1. Right click tray icon, uncheck Browser monitoring.
2. Options | Download options | Monitoring.
3. Clicking Cancel button when FDM attempts to catch a download.

1 and 2 methods requires the restart of a browser.
3 method works for Internet Explorer only. And make sure that option "Allow Internet Explorer to download if you pressed Cancel" enabled.

and this might work too: uninstall
