ok, how come they hafta be 14-15 year olds? and how come they're all depressed? ...it could be that i didnt pay attention when they said it or they didnt explain it at all -__-"

lol...i have no clue, maybe i didn't pay attention too... but, maybe they dun wanna pilot the evangelions, but like they're the only 1s dat can save tokyo..or w/e...lmfaos |

It's been a while since I've seen Evangelion, but the reason why they are all 14-15 year olds is that only people born or concieved at the time of the 2nd impact are supposed to be able to pilot the Evas. As for the reason why they're all depressed, well why wouldn't they be. Asuka's mom went uber psycho on her, mistook her for a doll and tried to kill her. Shinji's dad is a piece of crap who doesn't care about anyone but himself. And Rei, good lord, she's nothing more than a glorified blow up doll that Shinji's dad uses!

If you wanna talk about young pilots of any type or mecha's, you can add some Gundam Series pilots as well. Heero Yuu is only 14-15 as well though he's way better then Shinji. Now about the EVA pilots. The main reason for their depression is because of misfits and certain events that occured in their lifetime or such, thus resulting them, to be insane, hated from fans, etc... Still a good anime though!!

Hmmm, I guess given the circumstance, anybody could turn out like a Shinji, Asuka, or Rei (besides the piloting giant robots thing).
