I would definitely have say... Ed from Cowboy Bebop (She compensates for social skills with intelligence.) Ein from Cowboy Bebop (Damn, even the dog is more intelligent than I am.) Vash from Trigun (The dude is a genious, despite being a goofy crybaby on the outside.) Knives from Trigun (Basically, Vash + psychological disorder.) ...I guess that's all that I can think about right now

I think the smartest anime character is Ein from Cowboy Bebop.... kyaaa he's so cute too... ehrmmm.... sorry... I'm a big fan of Ein... ^_^

@ricci: don't double post please... there's this invention and its called the MODIFY button and its near you name... try it! (note: sarcasm [kinda]) or you'll suffer the consquences muahahahaha j/k j/k Shikamaru Nara- Naruto Tomoyo Daidouji- Card Captor Sakura (she's smart, but it wasn't really described in the anime... I think) Shinichi? or Conan?- Detective Conan (forgot his name... and I don't know if it's the correct spelling either...)

@ maia The spelling is right. Kudou Shinichi a.k.a Edogawa Conan from Meitantei Conan is not only my favourite character but also a smart person.

shikamaru nara-naruto captain aizen-bleach (he's evil, but he's so good in scheming) hm..i cant remember but the evil guys are always smart..XD and if only death note is an anime.. i'd say yagami raito is the smartest ever!  |
