have anyone read the book by Diana Wynne Jones? Well, the movie is not really like the book, it has a certain Hayao air to it that makes all his moveies brilliant.

Its still really good, worth watching....I love the music....i wish gendou would post them up but there is probably copyright issues...anyways...i found this site that actually has the whole soundtrack....!! if you want the site...ask...

the graphics of the movie is quite good. however, i find a bit hard to undertstand the storyline. Can someone explain to me the story?

basically it's about this 17-year-old girl who was cursed by this odd witch who turned her into an old lady. because of that, she ran away from home and met this weird scarecrow who led her into howl's moving castle and started her journey... to my opinion the whole story deals about the girl's self-esteem and where does she want to be in life.

Basically. If you really want the whole plotline, you should read the book. Miyazaki doesn't really deviate from the original storyline except on a few parts. Animerica had a small article on it, though they said that it probably would loose the next Academy Award to "Cars" which Pixar is directing. Personally, I don't think Pixar has a chance against Miyazaki goodness.

Hmm.. It's adapted from a book? Who's the author?
(Hope it's in english...)

Yeah, it's english. Diana Wynne Jones is the author. There's actually a sequel called Castle in the Air,(No relation to Laputa) which I found was really good.

The animation was amazing(ok it was the master so come on theres no contest) having read the book before I saw the movie I was slightley disaponited. Don't get me worong I will buy it when it gets lisanced over hear. But it is no Spirited Away or Kikki its a great story but its missing that umph, but since Miazaki will never die or retire there is still more great films to come.

i watched it tooooo!! it was really good and i enjoyed watching it!! I liked it a lot...but i expected much more from it...i guess because i have such high expectations for Miyazaki's works. I think the story should have been longer... He made some adaptations so it wasnt word for word from the original work by Dianna wynne jones. I still look forward to all of miyazaki's works as they are truely masterpieces!!!!!
