hi guys.. i'm jz wondering..in the last ep..did alex really say sophea's name in the end?i mean,what we ever really heard was eurys's name..i'm thinking,when wina said that alex called for sophea,was that occuring after eurys?or wina was jz making things up..but i don't think wina is a liar or sort..i'm jz asking for ur guys' opinions ^_^   |

Hi, it seems that were the only one watching this one. I havent finish watching this but I do know Alex is the little girl that was saved by Claus & Ravie. We can discuss it when I finished it. What I do like is the machines (vanships), its like a car that hovers and flies! Digitally animated with good cinematic dogfights. Cool. |

Nope, just as Aoi Azzura said. It's just what the sound officer said to Sophia. The name he actually calls out was his vanship partner's name, the one that died because of Maestro Delphine.

Well it could be, but we didn't heard it. What I'll do is focus on the lips of Alex, maybe he said Sophia or something. Nevertheless, it made the ending more dramatic. I still like the Vanships, it is like a car that flies. Very nice story, Claus and Ravie should 'do' more than just ride together. Here's another question for me, did something really happen to Tatiana & Claus while on the desert? Why Tatiana became a kind hearted person? Is it because of the clothes only? Why is Ravi so jealous? Anyway, Alvis Hamilton is so kawaii! |

my goodness, i nvr dream that sb would reply this thread after like...months??? thanks anyway guys^^ well,actaully, i think wina lied to sophea. she would know that alex was calling for eurys, not sophea^^ poor sophea..huhuuu hmm..about claus and tatiana..i dont think anything really happen btween them that night at d desert. i guess it's the typical condition when a girl suddely receieves such kindness n trust from a guy that she nvr felt before, so she got attracted. it cant be helped, i guess, as it seems like it is the first time for tatiana to experience such feelings. but i like it when alistia warned tatiana afterwards that claus is not like that to her only or sth like that. shows alistia's maturity^^ hahaha and to me, it's quite obvious that lavie likes claus..ok, maybe not as like like.but if i see my best friend, a guy who i've been closed wth since kid, show somekind of the same level of intimate kindness to another girl, i would get envious in a way^^ hahahahaa |

Thats kinda nice! Maybe because I am swayed by the gossip of the mechanics! Clause is indeed very nice (I envy him cause he is very attractive to girls!) not to mention his skills on piloting a Vanship - he is indeed a hero. Before, I thought Dio was a girl, but I checked the hmmmm, his physique and concluded that he's a guy. And the way he hugged Clause, everybody does like him, starting from the Captain, First Officer, Tatiana, even Dio I think. :-) |

that's one thing clear abt what happens on silvana: EVERYONE likes claus. even sophea kissed him! what the fish?? (that's jz what my frens n i like to use) maybe it's bcoz claus is such a young, strong-willed, naive in his own way but courageous kind of kid eh? so everyone likes him. poor lavie..no wonder she's mad^^ oh, but i love Dio!too bad he got lost in the grand stream..i hope he didnt die. but we'll nvr know abt that.huhuuu actually the part where alex got bombed in the end was among one of the surprising moments for me. i nvr thought he would die like that. another example would be from samurai 7; the part when kyuzo died..i could jz kill that green-haired boy! what's his name?!^^ |

I didnt watch Samurai 7 but I do want to watch it, and maybe that's another thread for you to make. Heheh, you reply fast! I noticed in Last Exile's world is the lack of water. There is also a certain Grade for drinking. Have you checked on the fansub website on how Vanships fly? If Claudia is an important element, where can do they get it? And I noticed the Guild can control some of the Battleships, did the technology leaked to the humans? Sadly, I dont have EP17 of this series. But anyway thats ok :-) |

this is my 3rd time loggin into gendou today^^ @ricci,oops, sorry, guess i jz give a spoiler abt samurai 7! d***! i do reccommend u to watch it, it's a great anime overall but the ending is juz....d*** it!^^ sorry.. yeah, one thing that's interesting is the grade of water..i sort of like the concept, u see..coz it teaches u to be grateful wth what u cn drink!^^ and what is claudia anyway? seems like a liquid or sth..hmm..when u say technology, whose technology r u talking about? i thought the Guilds are the superior ones here..as u cn see, even silvana uses Guild's expertise for their engine, rite? oh, and no, havent checked the fansubs on how does a vanship fly either^^ |

If you guys are watching the English dubbed version, you just need to turn the volume up a little, because Alex DOES say Euris before he dies. It's both in the subbed and dubbed version. (just watched it again) What really mystifies me about the ending is that Mullin Shetland is ALIVE!!! Didn't he die? I though he got a huge gapping hole in his chest when he got shot several times charging into the guild ship. What my friends and I came up with is this - that the Mullin we see in the ending, goatee and all, is the evil twin! Think about it! He has a goatee!

@sir bon, i was surprised as well coz it was a BIG hole^^ but i doubt it's the evil twin..the ending part should be a few days or months after exile flied away.i donno, is it possible for a man to grow goatee in jz a few days?^^ |

C'mon dude, if you were good, would you grow a goatee? Only evil guys grows goatee! If you have the combination of goatee and ponytail, then you are uber evil. You are not just evil, you are 3V1L!!! j/k But seriously though, WTF? No explanation, no nuthin. He's just alive after Donya (I think that's her name) cried her eyes out cuz' she just checked his corpse. Also, the kids with them in their cottage, who the hell were they? The girl with Donya could have been her sister, but the kid with Mullin looked as if he is Mullin and Donya's kid, but it looked as if he's at least 2 and it didn't look like it was more than a couple of months instead of the 3 years that would make it if the kid is Mullin and Donya's. Of course, there is one perfectly logical explanation for all that - Mullin is mutant! He has an accelerated cellular metabolic recovery system that allowed him to recover from acquiring death and it also passed on to his kid, artificially accelerating his growth in the mere months. Yeah, that's it! That's the ticket. J/K

OMG I didnt think about that!Mullin Shetland is alive and had kids! I'm just happy about the happy ending! Owde, I think the Guild Technology is used on the battleships. The special thing about Silvana is the operator/mechanic is from the Guild itself. Maybe that's the case. The Silvana cannot be controlled also by the Guild. That is why it's powerful. Still, Alvis Hamilton is cute. Period :-) |

This is all my opinion: About the engine Remember the episode where Dysis and Anatole join forces to attack the engine of the flying battle ships? Where Moran Shetland got shot? The goal was to breach into the angine room and kill the Guild operator. Yes, there's a Guild operator inside every ship's engine core room. And whenever The Guild decides, they can order the operator to eject the ship engine. That's what happened to some battleships that failed their attack. The engine ran away from the ship leaving it engineless, thus it sank. About Claudia Hope I remember it correctly. (It's been years!) Eps 3, delivering Al-chan (Alvis Hamilton) to Alex Low of Sylverna, rated mission of 9 stars. They went through the water tunnel to escape The Guild's battle stars. When it's pitch black, there were some lights flowing in the water. Al-chan said it's beautiful. Claus said it's called Claudia. About water grades. As I see it, the human world is divided into Dysis and Anatole. Separated by The Grand Stream. Impenetrable stream. What's the cause of The Grand Stream? EXILE! While the water is on Dysis, the Anatole lands dried. But Dysis don't get better luck. Water's all freezing there. Which explains their battle outfit. So, as EXILE is unsealed, the world is no different than the original "mother planet" or something like that. Anything else to discuss about? Seems we're the only ones watching this show. Well, that's natural coz it's a 2002. Sorry if I sometime missremembered or being confused with other animes.

Gee, a discussion about Last EXILE. OwdEe-san, I read on some other fourm that the writer actually said Dio wasn't dead. He was saved by some of the Vanship polits. I have a feeling that they cut that part out just to fit everything else into the last ep. As you know there are so much covered in the last ep. I feel that the part when they travel on the EXILE to return to "Blue Planet" was so rush, like it all happened in a flash. Anyway I wish they could have some sort of prequel in the future, like what actually to the settler. Why do we have the Guild and the "Earth Crawler" (sorry about the spelling). There is a novel of the series but it is in Japanese. Wish someone like ToykoPop will translate it..... |

The only problem with the theory that there is a guild operator inside each of the engine is that if there is a guild operator in there, then they really didn't need to rush their own ships and kill them, all they would need to do is to starve them out. What they rushed weren't their own ships, it was the Guild ships because (IMO) those ships didn't have the self destruct function. The reason that the Sylvanna didn't have this function is that they had a renegade guild engeneer taking care of their engine. By stealling those guild ships, they are able to take engines that won't blow up when they attack the guild. I also agree that the Exile is the cause of the Grand Stream. It was a self defence mechanism to keep it from being found. I mean, the moment the Exile was activated and all it's defences deactivated, the Grand Stream just ups and vanishes. The water purity, from what i can tell, is that their world, with the weather anomaly created by the Grand Stream, doesn;t have much water that is drinkable. Thus, the purity of the water that is produced. The les imprities the water has, the higher the grade with 1st water as the purest (and most expensive). 3rd and 4th water alone seems to be a treat to commoners and 1st reserved for the nobles (those rich bastitches!)

But I believe I've seen the back of the ships blown up on the upper deck and then it sunk. Something looks to be flying out of the sunken ships. And then the commander (forgot his name, the one with a cute daughter Claus and Lavie met in 1st eps?) was reported that those ships failed to take over. Dunno. Maybe I'm confusing it with another anime. But that's how I remembered it to be. Anyway, Last Exile kinda reminds me of another Gonzo anime, Kiddy Grade. This planet probably a product of Terraforming. Who knows?

Those are the engines being ripped out of the ships which means that they are either blown out of their cassing within the ships or they have some sort of return function for the guild to retrieve them again. They never really did explain. All that they really did say was that they could send out signals to the engines. That would be Duke Mad-Thane. I want a name like that! Sir Mad-Bon, I like the way that rings out!
