Hacking...
Link | by nats on 2006-05-22 11:46:25
If Mr. Gendou allows this topic, I'd really appreciate it. I only have one question. How do I hack someone's email address? Someone's been bugging my friend's YM profile and it pissed me off. Please help me get even. Just to remind him that I mean business...

originally, "hacking" was used to describe the slapping together of code without going through the textbook engineering process.

creating a brute-force script to hack a username/password is trivial, and easy to spot. for small or poorly guarded systems, this technique can be successful, however.
other techniques, such as password-lists have been historically more successful.
in general, the more you know about the victim, the easier it is to learn their password.
clearly, if you can trick a person into giving you their password, you don't need to know how to code at all to "hack" their account.
phishing and other such trickery can be surprisingly easy to pull off, even for the layman.
the only problem is, they will surely be able to guess how you got their password, and may do something about it.
more subtle tricks include keylogging software, and 3rd party acquisition.

of course, there are sure to be far better ways to solve a problem then resulting to unauthorized entry into someone's email account.
if they are seriously buggin, you can always flood their email box until they get the hint.
on many IM systems there is a way to do warnings, though im not familiar with YIM myself.

another creative strategy for deterring a pesky internet foe would be to send them to a website, then look in the logs to determan their IP address. you can then report them to their local police department, which in my experience is the wiser choice when dealing with poo-poo headed trolls. harassment on the internet is just as illegal as harassment in real life (at least it is considered such in the U.S.)
Since you are in the phillipines, that may be more difficult.

In any case, should you request my help via email, i will glady try my hand at the above mentioned if you feel its necessary.

I protect my users.

Hmm... Is is possible, Gendou-sama, to hack an account by their username? Example: "iammisterbugger" <-- That's the username. Is it possible?

And what do you mean by "3rd Party Programs"? Spywares?

possible? sure. easy? dunno, depends.

"3rd party acquisition" means getting something from a third party.
example: i want to gain unauthorized access to stupidnoob@yahoo.com, so i ask his/her trusted friend bigtimesucker@yahoo.com for their password. or, i happen to know they have an account at someanimeforum.com so i ask the admin there for the password they use in the forum, or the md5 hash.

Oh.. That method for me will be totally impossible since I don't know this person, I don't know what he does, but I only know that he is a college student and he's already 23 years old.

I'll need to gather more info about this person. Especially his Yahoo! Username. It seems that my friend doesn't want me to get "involved" in her problem. I'll send you an email if something new comes up.

if you post the entire content of the email headers, i can find their IP address so you can file a complaint with their ISP.

Uhm.. That's the problem. Here in the Philippines, some of us use Internet Cards. Not like a video card or anything. Anyway, this card entitles you 20 internet hours for 100PhP. This ISP has a disclaimer though. They are not to be responsible for any misusage of the internet card. Including hacking, for example. That's why I'm resorting to the most evil mean I can think of. And that is to hack his account and delete it. That way, he'll think twice before messing with my friends...

so, give me the email already, and i will see what i can do.

by the way, no matter what the disclaimer, there are still plenty of legal recourses.

Uhm.. Gendou-sama, it seems that someone has already made a move and threatened the bugger(physically). I only found out this morning, and I'm very sorry for wasting some of your time. Please lock this topic. Once again, I'm sorry for the wasted time.... But thanks for the support that you gave me. At least, I know someone that I can run to when someone thinks of doing this kind of things... ^_^
