Re: girls' state

sorry!!!!!!!! girls state is this 1 week program where you learn about the government and how to pass bills and other stuff like that. you make a "mythical 51st state" sorry it's rather vague i don't know a whole lot about it yet |

where is this program? i thought it had something to do with making a new state. and since you mention 51ist, apparently its an American thing. I am sure there are other similiar programs elsewhere in the world, but your example was just real vague and specific at the same moment! I would go to a similiar program, had one been available to me during high school, maybe i woulda become a politician! hah.

i'm sorry again!! i see i'm very confusing (which i should work on since i confuse lots of people T___T) it's in the u.s. and is held in most/all the states (i only know this bc there is girls nationals)(there is a boys one too obviously i have no clue on that one except it is much closer to a boot camp according to my cousin) it's to educate on the government, you have to have an interview and then you're chosen (usually 1-2 per school, each student supported by an american legion) hope this doesn't sound too snobbish or uppity or anything, this is just the only way i know how to describe it :) |

That's really interesting. I live in Texas and I've never heard of that. I guess it's because I live in a hick town. No one cares about govt down here. |
Re: girls' state

ha ha that's a good point DANGEL ^^ we do learn about the govt in school, it's more of an "advanced" sort of program, learning about how to actually go about passing bills and how to operate in a govt system... sort of...O_O sorry about this vagueness again. i'm going to the meeting in the beginning of june where they give more info to everyone. |

uhm...Bush couldnt rerun even if he wanted to.... he only gets two terms, thank good ness. i would say thank god, but he is part of the right wing.... anyways, to justify this post in this thread, do you (kittykat) think you will be actually advised/taught by your states government officials? i know you said you havent gone yet, but it would be swell to be told the ropes from those who are in the thick of it.

(YoYotheCananbalisticOreo) there are supposed to be important people coming during the week. anyway i'll see if i can find out next next monday (that's when the "get together" meeting is). we have to keep a journal during the week so i can stick that up after i come back too :) (if anyone's interested). (DANGEL) it would be interesting to run for president but i can't. i'd be stuck with vice first. |
