problem with transfer rate

On just about every song I dowload, I notice that the transfer rate (KB/sec) in the first few seconds will drop by half, and I end up with 1.35 KB/sec. Sometimes this results in the longer songs not being downloaded all the way (the connection fails). Is there anything I can do about it? ![]() |

from time to time there are people who use download accelerators or who otherwise cause immense server load. when this happens, transfer rates will fall, and new connections will be very slow. dropped connections are most likely a result of my restarting apache or the entire server. if you can give me a precise list of the URL and timestamp when this occurs, i will investigate further. ![]() ![]() ![]() |

Welp, I downloaded another song. I started at 8:00 my time, which I think would 5 your time. It took about twenty minutes for a four MB song. Song Title: Death Wish Anime: Samurai Champloo For the first couple seconds, (and this is something I noticed for the first time), the transfer rate was 9.55 KB/sec. It dropped to 3.32 KB/sec. In the first five or so minutes, it went to 2.99 KB/sec. It floated between 2.99 to 3.04 KB/sec for the next few minutes, then it dropped .01 KB/sec about every minute. For the last five minutes, it stayed at 2.93 KB/sec. This time, I got the whole song. Hope this helps. ![]() |

critic, it sounds like you are viewing the AVERAGE transfer speed, and watching it change as the connection hangs. it is likely that the source is on your end. i have conducted several random tests and gendou.com seems to have no problem serving at 1,500k/s. your recent IP address is resolves to cache-dtc-ab09.proxy.aol.com thats not dailup is it? ![]() ![]() ![]() |

I got dialup with netscape, yes. It could be a problem with my end, I'll check it out. P.S. Netscape sucks. ![]() |
