I am beginning the process of adding AJAX to the site. Today, the request list voting system has been re-implemented using AJAX. If you have any problems using it, or if you have suggestions for furter AJAX upgrades, please let me know in this thread. Thanks! Current AJAX Plans:

You should use AJAX to make replying on the forum into a quick reply box. The reply link takes you to an anchor at the bottom of the thread where a text box opens, and when you post the reply it just pops into its table cells. Editing posts also; clicking edit changes the post into a text box within the thread where a user can make changes. (And I still think you should have the 'Back | Reply | Subscribe' bar at both the top and bottom of the page) |

I agree with psoplayer, especially on the "both the top and bottom" part. :P Quick Reply and Edit within thread would be kickass. |

the thread control bar is now on the top and bottom. i have also added quick reply/edit to the list. thanks!

unfortunatly, ajax will not suffice for "show offline" because of the pagination. its kind of complicated, i will explain it only if you REALLY want me to.

That's okay. I kinda figured that would be the issue. Would that apply to 'show/hide'-ing columns as well? |

i could use javascript itself to hide/show columns it would be kind of silly, not to mention heavy on the client CPU, database, and server bandwidth.

wow!!! Ajax is so cool i can rate my fav. song so easily coz before when you rate your fav song. you will go to another page and then you can now rate your fav. song. but now a bar will appear that has song rating on it |

Seems to work pretty damn nice! I haven't seen any problems with it yet, but I'll keep my eyes peeled. EDIT: Quick Reply has sure made the "Suicide v. Martyrism" thread very hot. I've never seen replies so quickly. |
