I want to ask a lot of questions about Gendou.com its could be good if gendou-sama (admin/founder) answer this questions... 1. When gendou.com was born (first online) ? 2. What a philosophy that you use GENDOU character to be a main name of this site ? 3. Some history few days before gendou.com goes online 4. First day Online Songs title 5. Who is first member to this site ? (except admin or crew). 6. Are you program this entire site alone ? 7. Are you full time at gendou.com ? 8. What a big plan in the future of gendou.com ? 9. Is your server machine are capable to process tons of users request that login in same time (peak process time)? 10. What processors and how many GBytes of RAM used to process all users request ? 11. When the maintenance day ? 12. What time this site is being idle (low process time) a day ? 13. Where the time zone on thread posting is taken form ? 14. This site design looks simple, easy to navigate and fast, did you learn it form some books (or online media) about site design? If you did it, is digital version of books or links to download exsist?... I wanna learn about it more... 15. Your personal sugestion to built a great website with low cost Ok, thats all... and if you please, make this thread 'sticky' so a new users can see this Q/A without repeating same questions in other threads. 1. the first version of Gendou's Anime Music started january 2001. the database was created about a year after. the domain gendou.com was created april 2002. the first registered user was in october 2003. 2. its just a nickname. the eva references are a perk, too. my friend used to run Shinji's Game Music, also using an eva character. 3. ? 4. among the first songs uploaded by myself was the Macross Plus OST. 5. ryukoshen 6. yes. 100% hand coded php/mysql 7. do i spend all my free time working on the site? yes. do i also go to school and work at a job? yes. 8. take over the world. 9. the major stress of the server is caused by hotlinkers. large media files take a lot of bandwidth, which is the main bottleneck in overall site performance. the database itself is very well optimized. there are very few queries that use alot of resources. 10. classified. j/k 1GB ram, spills over about 10MB virtual memory. 11. i do maintenance here and there, no planned dates at all. 12. 2-3AM california time is the overall lowest in terms of # of requests per hour. 13. cali. 14. i stole the navbar from work, but it was originally from some free demo. i learned a great deal of CSS and PHP at my work. thanks mike!! 15. make people donate? lol

I want to ask : 1. top five country of gendou.com users come form... 2. plan if gendou.com users goes half milion... 3. why do you use MP3 not other new format like MP4, AAC, or OGG ?

1. out of 1000 random users, here are the countries:
3. MP4, AAC, and OGG are all very nice encoding formats. unfortunately, not everyone's computer has the hardware and software necessary to use them. although, the time may be coming that i may begin to include these formats. something to look forward to!

I have a question or two... How long will Gendou.com last for? Many, many, more years to come? What was Thread Number One About?(that would be a long time of scrolling all the way back to look) Do you think people will eventually past your amount of posts you've made(you have like 3500 something, nice!) or even your lvl perhaps?

It's easy to find thread #1! just replace the number "10560" with the number "1" in the url in the ↑ address bar ↑ Also, you can reverse the sort-order to see oldest first in /forum/search.php Hopefully, gendou.com will never close. It may be the case that in the future, copyright enforcement becomes strict to the point that gendou.com will no longer serve free anime music. Should this come to pass, alternatives like bittorrent are a possibility. It is highly unlikely that anyone will surpass me in number of posts. In level, yes. Although, i could always give myself more god points! :P

@Ming-Chan, a screen name or SN is a name, that you use under MSN, AOL, etc...to im with your friends online.

Well, my chinese name has the chinese character "Ming" in it so I took the Ming. My friend told me that the "chan" used in the Japanese language is used with a name to make it seem childish and cute. So I started to write my name as Mingchan. Also, this is what my best friend in primary school called me, so there are some very nice memories attached to this nickname.

That's pretty cool. I wonder what my name looks like in Japanese Symbols? Question for Gendou... 1. Since your graduating pretty soon, Congrats by the way, will you still be hosting this site, or will someone else will, like the Moderators? 2. Who are the moderators on this site, just name a few? 3. Would I happen to be one of those 1000 random users you used in that Chart? Just curious. ¦)
