Kira is /not/ the best pilot, he's the ultimate coordinator and all, but it ends there, natural talent. Athrun on the other hand, is an experienced, trained soldier, and a red coat of ZAFT. He also has SEED mode, which means he has talent /and/ experience (more than Kira). Also, Kira hesitates in battle, which is something a good pilot wouldn't do. Don't get me wrong though, I'm not bashing Kira, I'm just saying Athrun's a better pilot. Shinn doesn't stand a chance against either because he has major problems with staying calm xD  |

If we go by the mid series where Shinn was single handedly killing off armies, beating Kira, and taking out Athrun in 5 seconds...then the elite trained Ace Pilot, Shinn would be the best. He showed that a well trained regular coordinator with the determination can beat the 'invincible'. If we go by when the stupid director started listening to whiny fanboys and girls about how Kira should be the main character again and that "noooo shinn sux more athrun", and soon bastardized Shinn...nerfing him into a pathetic 1/4-assed villian... Then I would have to say Athrun was probably the best pilot, by far... Kira is just one hell of a shot :P |

No 1 is Athrun and 2nd is Kira, they both were experienced and calm. Shinn is also good but he can't control his emotions

i think i'd already post here.. Shinn is good but Athrun is much much better than him.. especially on the last episode where athrun almost beaten up shinn when he is in SEEDMODE while Athrun is not..now that's impressive.. anyway.. Athrun is the Best Pilot for me.. why? because his the only pilot who never gets beaten in SEEDMODE..  "It MaKes SenSE ThAt YoU TrY HaRd foR THe SaKe oF tHE PeRSoN YOu LoVE.." |

without a doubt, hands down, Kira Yamato... I agree "he" is the "Ultimate Coordinator". Besides he easily beats Athrun and Athrun easily beats Shinn..
I love anime so much, I spend more time watching than sleeping!

WHAT THE. No argument. KIRA. Shinn's too quick to temper to be a good pilot. ATHRUN acts big, but he's only so-so in a real do-or-die situation.

i think Shinn he beat the crap out of Kira's freedom Shinn i think is the best pilot if Kira didnt recieve his new gundam that Strike Freedom or wutever Shinn is still probobly the best |

@Chu4ever Yup, I did watch Destiny. I even have Destiny Plus, Destiny graphic novel and Destiny gundam modelling kit. The reason why I say Athrun is not afraid to kill is because compared to Kira, he doesn't really make a big issue out of it. And I'm referring this bit mostly on Gundam Seed and a bit on Destiny. From the moment crisis starts, Athrun took up his soldier facade immediately. Kira, took his time a bit. Don't kill me for my opinion. I am as much Kira fan as I am Athrun's (just not Shin's fan.. he.. he..) And after all, this is about who's the best pilot. If it's about the best coordinator, then my vote definitely goes to Kira.

| Athrun is decent, but hes had way more experience than either kira or shinn. Kira was forced into the strike and did what no other pilot other than Mu had been able to, fought of a Ginn. then in desinty he is forced back into the freedom when he and lacus are attacked, and didnt have any trouble at all defeating the multiple Ashe types sent against him. My vote still stands that Kira is the best, athrun is second best, and shinn is just a retard with no skills who gets really angry really easily |

Athrun's Savior went to the junk yard with its bits and pieces. Shinn was'nt able to wound Strike Freedom. Kira was defeated by Shinn coz he is protecting archangel that time and Shin is changing armaments evrytime, then Kira is protecting the pilot he is fighting with.
