Actually, the Naruto&Sasuke fight had good animation, but the drawing style was very poor.
If they fight again in Shippuuden, you'll see both, not just the same as the first animation fight.

Is it like when they were about to fight in front of Sakura, and they both used their signature moves but then Kakashi came in and negated their attack(s)?

Actually, the Naruto&Sasuke fight had good animation, but the drawing style was very poor.

I agree with you :0 they lowered the quality so the animation will have more frames or something ._. it is also the same with the Sasuke vs Orochimaru arc, right back at the Chuunin exams, I mean, take a look at this!!

Actually with the animation being well put out, yet the quality of those 2-3 episodes being very poor, it must've been the best they could do.
Doing animation like that is very complicated... they're not KYOTO or Studio Ghibli for cryin' out loud. XD

That image of Sasuke... is weird. (O.o)

One of my friend here is an animator, and he explained to me why some episodes are in poor quality...

1. Animators had their own approximate deadline whether in good or bad condition *means the drawing*

2. Exagerating the movement so that the anime implies more action and movement that common people may not do.

3. And duplicating the number of frames alloted in 1 second.

I did understand the explanation in 1 & 2 but 3...hmm dont know this one.....

@ Ich

the explanation #3 might be relevant to what I've said at the post where I've put the sasuke image. It might be to have more framerates per second, that means there are actually more than 20 more or less frames in one second or so. But I'm not sure, I'm open for corrections dattebayo~ ^^

20 frames per second means each frame's length is approximately 0.1 seconds.
If you ever made an animation similar to the Kakashi one in Imppy's current signature, you can have a better understanding because the styles are very similar.
More frames with careful lay-out make it look better, more realistic (motion wise), etc.
You have less frames per scene when the scene involves whoever moving at a faster pace then the regular pace of the anime/animation/etc.

Overall, the idea is the same anyways but I'm not saying if you make an animation using sprite sheets, that you can make an anime. XD

thats also what im thinking though...so the faster pace, lesser the frame?
the slower pace means that more frames are used?

am I now correct with this one? *im not in animation though? @_@*

Yeah, let's use that first Naruto vs. Sasuke fight.
Forget about how it looked, the quality, etc. for now.
The animation depended on the frames, how fast the frames went through per second, how many frames there were, etc.
Now, this is just how I see it. I'm not an animator in Japan or anything now, but here's basically how it goes.
It really doesn't matter if a clip (of animation) has more frames, or less.
The speed of the frames alters depending on how many frames there are though.
So, if you have 20 frames at 0.1 seconds, and you click play or whatever to see 'em go through, you'd see them go awfully fast.
Faster: no delay (photoshop) or no seconds holding back the pace at all so it'll go as fast as possible.
Now, if you put no seconds at all, yet let's say, take off five frames, it'll go fast.
Let's skip on ahead to like, five frames left at 0.0 seconds per frame. It'd go pretty fast to me.

Now let's reverse this effect. Add 40 frames but the speed shall remain the same at 0.1 seconds per frame.
It'd go slower, but if you once again, use 0.0 seconds (no delay, photoshop), it'll go faster then the pace going on at 0.1 frames per second.
Ten frames per second since 0.1(10-frames) = 10 frames = one second.
Trust me, if you think it out on your own carefully, it's kind of basic to get but like I said, I'm no animation expert, anime frame work expert, animation sprite sheet expert, etc.
It's just how I see things in the simplest way, but yeah.

An easier example is... certain anime clips you see over the internet.
They're cropped out of the anime episode, movie, whatever and you can alter each frame's speed and how fast they go.
You can re-arrange 'em, etc. You know the video stuff, right?
Yeah, same thing here.

With Shippudden out, the graphics/quality have increased.
It's still a bother to see them talk forever while jumping from tree to tree.
From that, they jump like five trees per one days travel to somewhere.
To some it's not that much a bother, but overall, it could be a bit more realistic and up to Shippuuden's new standards.
Now, I'm not sure when Sasuke and Naruto are going to fight again, but the animation AND the quality, should be better then the first.

It's like making a gif in Imageready, only faster. Their motions are rather complete, unlike you see on some action animes [e.g. get backers, and some fillers] their fighting animation is kinda flashy.

Although when I try to see closely on the SasukevsNaruto arc, what makes the motion goes smoothly are the wooshing effects, e.g. when the leg strikes down it's as if it was stretched or something. I'll try to post a screenshot of this later.

I was hoping that the graphics in Shippuuden will improve too. But if you would let me compare which of them is better judging through their looks, I prefer the youngers ones ;_;

Maybe you're right. But if you watch closely to when the scene zooms in one one's face, you can see how the color and everything is brighter, right?
Well, the detail is so~so, the drawing style seems a bit sloppy.
Shippuuden seems to be a bit more... let's say, they got "better" or they "learned from the past series" which is what mostly every anime is.
Improving and only getting better for the people.
Mostly they're the same at this point and that.

[side note] A GREAT example is Dragonball Z or something.
Every few episodes, the characters would have better looks and movement, then later, the drawing style looks like they either got lazy or someone else drew it or something.
Everyone's seen DBZ, so you should know what I talk about.
Just compare that here, with Shippuuden. How the details and whatnot are, not the two series. :D

gaah 9_9 Dragonball Z... they say Naruto's a ripoff with them, which makes me piss off. Naruto's way better than that series, their animation is really ugly. oh, the details, the details XD

Yeah I would've agreed do that. The character designs somewhat changed because of its rush and laziness. It would've been looked better if the style was constant

Re: Naruto: Shippuuden
Link | by devils-angel on 2007-04-23 21:34:53
Ah, don't compare the two because hate it or love it, DBZ is incredibly much more famous then a TON of anime out there, including Naruto! That's a fact!

Anyways, I'll try to get pictures of what I mean later or if you know, you can post 'em cause honestly... I'm going to purposely forget about it. :3
I also wanna know how Kurenai is along with her team of three.
Don't you think Ino can look like Deidara? XD

Re: Naruto: Shippuuden

Mmm, by what i read, the episodes should have reached the gaara vs deidara and Kakashi VS Naruto n Sakura part... didn't those two have good animations? For non filler battles i think they deserve a good quality animation...

Anyway, Ino? The first time she appeared again i actually thought "what the heck is deidara doing her... Oh wait that's ino..."

Yes she looks like deidara a lot!
