Its not quite right, the Gaelic. I couldn't get all the accents and dashes I needed but its alright. It doesn't sound anything like it's read anyway... |

You're right. But the difficulty comes from mastering the language and memorization. I can't speak worth beans, except to children maybe. Puedo hablar con mis amigos y maestras, pero... with strangers I'm all, "OMGOSH that was like so terrible, wtf did I say?!" French... *groans* |
Re: Critic's Bar

At least you can speak. Ii I have to communicate I pull out paper and a ball point pen and start scribbling. I actually hate French and I hate myself for having to learn it... |

*Laughs* I can actually remember myself doing the same thing before meeting with people. What do you mean by "having to learn it"? |

I went to school in Canada for a bit and it's mandatory to take at LEAST one year of French since it's the 2nd national language... |

Ah, I see. Well, I grew up in an area where there was a large population of Spanish-speakers, so it really helped. At least, it made things easier if you needed to help someone who couldn't speak English. ...not that I could help anyone with my skills. |
Re: Critic's Bar
|
Yes but at least you had a practical application for your skills. How many Germans or Frenchmen d'ye think we get in Central FLorida? I tell ye. 0. |

I can tell you that the majority of those spanish speakers who "ask for help" are either: a) Trying to mug you or b) Trying to see what they can take away from you. |

LOL. Yeah, not many Frenchmen in Florida. Wait, I was going to get mugged? XD Wow, good thing they realized I was beyond incompetent and unworthy of their time, even for robbing. But it wasn't like that most times--think more of a school setting, like lost parents or new students. Anyway, it's been great (gentlemen?) but I'm off to do some of mi quehaceres. Which... I think actually means 'chores' but whatever, laundry's a chore too. G'night. |

You know that having a crazy german teacher doesn't really help you much in the long run. I hate my German teacher, seriously. I rarely hate anyone, but she takes the cake. *german example* Bist du an einen Mannshaft? ich bin an meinen Mannshaft jeden Tag nach der Schule. Ich shenke ein par Kekse fuer menine Mutti's Geburtstag. Sie waren wansinnig gut. Translation: Are you on a team? I am on my team every day after school. I gave my mother a few cookies for her birthday. They were crazy good. Just cause I hate the teacher doesn't mean I dislike the laguage. It actually came in handy in EVA, thanks to Auska. I know a little latin(not enough to write it), comes from hearing italian and learning nearly every latin prefix and suffix. Latin makes every language easier, cause they're all based off of it. |
Re: Critic's Bar

Yes but German is responsible for some of the greatest words ever. Like Mannshaft, Luftwaffe, Strudel and so so many others. It's such a great and graciful language... |

My french teacher once said: "Latin is for scientist, french is for romantics, spanish is for religious fanatics and german is for (censured)" Before the shool year ended I asked her why. Her response: "Latin is the mother of all languages, even so, only smart people can know it; french is so beautiful that no bad things can be said with it; spanish is the God's favorite language; and german is a (censured) to learn." I just remebered that with |

German makes great death metal. I don't normally go for that but German is just gutteral and angry sounding enough to make it fun to listen to. Plus if I don't know all the words I don't realise how bloody stupid the lyrics are...that's the best part. |
