My school's worse than yours. When I'm in elementary I thnk I'm just the only kid in the whole school who love anime. I mean they just watch for the sake of watching, to be entertained then forget. During the High to do schools days they raise their eyebrows and say: okay, dont you go telling me bout anime anymore. Like im making then sick. ^^ I think I'm the one who's sick now... heh ^^ ![]() ![]() ![]() |

september rain means the Philippines... Imagine my surprise when a swordie in Ragnarok spoke a bit of Japanese with us. *** Anime fanatics are weird to other people because to them it seems like our whole life revolves around anime. Which musn't be the case. You hear that, september rain? Stop being too obsessed about Saiyuki, and for Pete's sake DON'T CALL YOUR PILLOW HAKKAI!!! That's just...wrong. P.S. Don't mind me 'scolding' sep rain here, she's my aniki. ^^

Well, there are some weird fans out there like "Man-Faye" after all. "what's up, there's nothing wrong with being an anime fan...there's so many good anime shows out there, better than most crap I see on TV lately" That is true. Though I became an anime fan long before the quality of American television programming started to die down, it's still great that anime is still a better alternate than 99% of what's on TV nowadays.

"well everybody has its own mind and hobby when we talk about otaku, a person who stinks, never go out from his/her room and have ahnetai face (in japan they called this type of a guy a hikikomori). thats is what they think about otaku but if you think it seriously otaku just like filatelist but in a verry diferrent way every body has it own mind so dont interfere with us we otaku has faith in our hobby we otaku are free we otaku are pure and we otaku are OTAKU" You know what Gray, you really address a lot of good points. Though we non-Japanese fans tend to use the word "otaku" is a badge of honor or a certain level of eliteness, we can all remember that it is something with negative connotation to Japan. However, the last three things you mentioned are never really acknowledge until the release of a book which is now a j-dorama called Densha Otoko, which is based off a true story used from transcripts for Japan's biggest BBS, 2ch.net. The drama gives a postivie light on otakus showing we are loyal and polite and are just only human. As for me, I've been a dedicated anime fan, but I rarely ever used the word otaku to an exessive extent to describe my love for anime. I don't really consider my level of fandom on the level of a Star Trek or Star War's fan which is part of the reason why I don't do it. Like, I'm not crazy enough to learn a fake language (lets just say I learn the Zentradi language if I were a hardcore Macross fan) and I am not crazy enough to camp out in line for the next movie (though I did go to Japan to see Z Gundam ~Hoshi wo Tsugu Mono~. But I've never really done any cosplays nor do I ever go to big anime conventions.
