GROUP 13 RESULTS JUDGE CHARLOTTE [Fluffy] 8/20 Song selection: 2 Technique: 2 Interpretation: 2 Personal Appreciation: 2 Comment: It sounded like you were flat through most of this song. This is a song that requires you to give a lot of energy, and I didn't feel any of that energy from you, which could also be a reason that you're going flat. You have a nice quality to your voice, so definitely keep practicing! [Gaia] 10/20 Song selection: 3 Technique: 2 Interpretation: 2 Personal Appreciation: 3 Comment: I love this song so much and I absolutely love Tommy. One thing that's cool about her, is that even though her face is expressionless, she puts so much energy into her songs. I didn't feel like you really had the same amount of enthusiasm. It sounded like you were trying to hold the notes out too long, and at times you were behind the music. HKsux] 19/20 Song Selection: 5 Technique: 4 Interpretation: 5 Personal Appreciation: 5 Comment: This was so well done. This is a really amazing song and I really enjoyed listening to you sing it. You have a nice tone to your voice and good control over it. You did awesome girl! [Lucysakura] 15/20 Song selection: 4 Technique: 4 Interpretation: 4 Personal Appreciation: 3 Comment: You have a great voice, and I really felt the emotion behind your words, even though I couldn't understand them. This was really well done! [Hulaondown] 12/20 Song selection: 3 Technique: Interpretation: 3 Personal Appreciation: 3 Comment: You have a really nice voice, but I think it played against you having the music down so low. It sounded like in a couple of places you hit the wrong notes, but that could have just been because we couldn't hear the music or you might've slipped because you couldn't hear it. You have a really nice voice. I like the edgy style you have. Don't ever lose it! JUDGE PICK: HKSUX JUDGE JOSH Fluffy Song Selection: 2 - The song fits nicely into your range and has a nice energy about it. I can tell you enjoy the song. Technique: 2 - Your sense of pitch could use some work. You're usually on, but on several occasions, you end up wavering on the flat side of notes. But you're still on it and you have a naturally wide range. Interpretation: 3 - You have a nice energy about you that makes the performance a fun one. You should work on singing out a bit more, however. You end up losing power on the higher notes because you switch to your head voice in places where you're not quite comfortable with the notes. Personal Appreciation: 3 - It's nice to hear someone having fun with the music they perform. Overall Score: 10 Gaia Song Selection: 1 - Certain songs require a sense of confidence and grit that you're not really putting forth in this song. Selecting a song very much has to do with how much you're willing to put into said song and your own personal demeanor. This song simply clashes with said demeanor of yours. Technique: 2 - You stick on key, for the most part but don't do much beyond that. Interpretation: 0 - Like I mentioned before. You don't really seem to have a feel for the song you're performing. I keep picturing a mouse trying to fill the shoes of a lion. Not that lions actually wear shoes, mind you, but that's the image I get. This may sound a bit un-orthodox, but I think you should try singing the same song at an absolute angry shout. Odds are, you'll wear out your voice doing it the first time. But, as you gain greater control and vocal strength, that shout will become a powerful singing voice. Personal Appreciation: 1 - You get one for trying. But, I'd really like to hear you open up.Overall Score: 4 Hksux Song Selection: 4 - Very mellow and nice fit for your voice. I'd say you picked something near perfect for yourself. Technique: 4 - Beautiful tone and vibrato. On top of that, you throw in some very subtle trills/runs. I do like subtlety in music. Interpretation: 3 - Again, you don't do anything particularly astounding, but your dynamic is solid and your voice is bright. The only problem I have with your interpretation is that you cut some notes a bit short. Personal Appreciation: 4 - I really enjoyed listening to this piece. I love your vibrato and look forward to hearing more from you.Overall Score: 15 LucySakura Song Selection: 4 - It's set well within your range and has a great dynamic to it. Nice pick. Technique: 4 - Your pitch is right on and you have a very nice vocal tone and subtle vibrato. On top of that, your harmonies are spot on. Interpretation: 3 - The verses, bridge and hooks are interpreted very nicely. I was a bit disappointed with the choruses. I was hoping to hear something powerful escape your lungs and you pulled back. It's something that takes away from the energy of the song. Personal Appreciation: 3 - I loved the harmonies and think you have a very lovely voice. Still, I really wish you would have upped the dynamic on those choruses. Good job~!Overall Score: 14 Hulaondown Song Selection: 3 - "IDOL THINGY!!!!" That has nothing to do with the song selection at all... I just felt like putting it in quotes. You've got the range and spunk for the song, but don't quite have the vocal control to pull off a lot of the runs. Technique: 3 - You seem to get lost with your pitch at certain parts and end up slurring out a lot of runs. I do dig the jazzy fast vibrato that you employ from time to time. Interpretation: 3 - You have a lot of spunk but lack dynamic. I think it has more to do with the key you're singing the song in than anything else. Makes me want to hear you sing the song a step or so higher. Personal Appreciation: 3 - Definitely a cool pick for a song though, like I mentioned before, it just doesn't seem to be in the right key for you. Try to work on your intonation a bit more and more emotion and you'll get better. JUDGE PICK: HKSUX GUEST JUDGE-MUSICIAN fluffy song selection 4 technique 2.5 interpretation 2.5 personal appreciation 3 usually the problem with many submissions i've heard was that the vocals were so low that the music was drowning it out. this time, it's the other way around: your vocals were pretty clear, which is good, but it was TOO out there, it was almost distracting; next time pay attention to the levels of both your vocals and the backing track. would have been a catchy song, but your performance didn't do it justice. practice harder. gaia song selection 5 technique 3 interpretation 3 personal appreciation 3 great song from a great anime (one of my favorites actually), but i was expecting a lot more from this effort. it's a fast song, and you sounded like you were having trouble with your breath. pace yourself if you're going to pick songs like these, otherwise you're better off trying a mid-tempo song or ballad. work on making the song melody and your lyrics more defined, it's coming out a little muddled. hksux song selection 4.5 technique 4.5 interpretation 5 personal appreciation 5 you have a great voice, and you put a lot of feeling in the song. are you sure you aren't pro? you use your strengths well... it was a little shaky or pitchy in a few spots, but that's just nitpicking... great job. lucysakura song selection 5 technique 4.5 interpretation 4.5 personal appreciation 4.5 another great song from a great series, and this time i was not disappointed. good job with the high notes, too. my only real criticism would be that you're singing the song almost like a ballad; effortless singing isn't ALWAYS a good thing, and you do it really well... if you picked another song it would have been ok, but for songs like these, put more heart and fire into it. otherwise, great job. hulaondown song selection 5 technique 4 interpretation 4.5 personal appreciation 4.5 good job overall there. although, i noticed you were having just a little trouble with the lower notes. try picking songs that are more in your range. you need to reach down for those lower notes, they are just as important as reaching out to nail the high ones. Try to relax a bit more and have fun while you sing :) Work a bit on your notes, you tend to go a bit flat. You have potential though, so keep practicing. Your high peaks were incredible, and only because I want to be picky, I found some of your notes a bit short, you cut them too soon, other than that, it was beautiful.
