@DA: I took the SAT I back in May and then again in October. >_> lol, I...didn't do that good. I did really sh*t the first time. I was supposed to study over the summer but, well...we all know how studying in the summer goes. XD But somehow I was able to raise my score by about 20 points in each category. The only thing I did well in was the essay which kind of sucks cause that's like the thing they care least about. -.- O.o' I assume you're taking the SAT I? D: My only words of advice are "don't guess!" Cause I think that's what screwed me over. -.- Damn College Board for having weird scoring methods. |

@Jow I took the SAT Reasoning like 3 times, this would be my fourth. SAT IIs, Math 2 and Literature once. I did pretty good on both of them fine lol However, I scored like an 1800 the first time, 1890 the second, and my most recent one was a 1990. My dad promised me a car if I broke 2000... that's why this is my final chance... Hopefully I get it right this time lol @DA this scholarship I'm applying for is basically a competition. Whoever plays the best gets the scholarship. No pressure huh? ^.^;;; |

[@Adeline] Yeah, that's my fault. I didn't expect school to actually get in the way this time. Also, other than this personal business, I don't think all our members are ready to record a practice run yet. [@Jow] Yupp, the first one. Why take the second one if I never took the first one!? Haha, but I think it doesn't work like that, like Algebra I and Algebra II for example, like I think both tests are just two versions of the test, right? I went to collegeboard.com or something like that and registered (on the last day for the Dec. 6th Test, haha), and it said something like that. I'm not that worried, though that's like that for almost every test I take anyways. Well, on tests I do bad on I never worry, and for tests I do good on I worry the most, haha. Vice verse type voodoo there. :O My dad said he'd be happy if I scored 800+. Is it hard to get this at all? I know the test is split into parts, like Math - Reading - Writing, and maybe something else? I have no clue really. Not only did it cost like, 40+$ something to register, they had the nerve to like charge more for making the scores more complicated, like "wtf is this f'n BS!?!?!" Jesus, like they say education's important right, did they also mention you need money, too? Jesus, I hate this part of the world/country/life. It's funny for the two choices for college I might go to (even though I wanna do something in Japan, seriously), they're not really checking your SAT scores. And even if you don't take it, you just take some Entrance Exam like test when you enter college. My one friend is doing this, and his choice for college is one of my two as well. I'm just taking this once, and lastly, cause I'm doing this so college people will be like,"oh, he took the time to take this BS test, sweet." It's "good for colleges", or "college people want to see that you took the time and effort to take it", etc. And yeah, it's funny the least important thing is counted less on that darn test, although writing is probably a very important skill to keep in life... I guess... :/ [@L] Yeah, the one for me, if I remember correctly, you have to make basically a new website entirely for your local mall. You have to do like all the stores and whatnot, and content added, not sure what else but it's pretty much that. That's a lot of stuff, that's like them paying me to do it. Sidenote this, but the mall website for the mall near me, is as crappy as ever, though the content is there, to some degree, and there's info on stores and a # to call if you're trying to apply or something. I looked at this for FYE when I applied online but never called in to see if they were hiring, but I just threw this in the garbage. ------- |
Re: The Single's Club~ ver II (Is singing time!!)

@L: XD Wow, you did hella better than me. Man, a car for breaking 2000? That's a pretty good incentive if you ask me! XD @DA: Well, each section is 800 a piece so I'm assuming your dad is referring to your total score. I'm sure you'll be able to get that much at least. After all, you get 200 points just for writing your name. ^-^;; Yeah, it's pretty effed up how much it costs to just even take these tests. Plus, you have people who are taking $1000+ classes to prep for them. It's kind of unfair how much stress a lot of college put on the SATs. For one thing, if you have a kid who can afford these kinds of classes compared to a disadvantaged kid, they might be equally smart, but the kid with more money can take those classes and gets the one up. *sigh* Education has always been for the wealthy and it doesn't look like it's changing any time soon, what with all these economic problems and not even being able to get a loan for college. =D Well, luckily for you it doesn't look like there's too much stress placed on these test. T-T Wish I could say the same for me. |

Yeah, and the thing is what, double that? I'm not sure and have never been sure, it's something like 2400, but they use some system of 1600 as the scoring sheet or something? Confusing... Are you serious about your name thing? That's like insane. I remember hearing some story about that. Some kid lost points for just writing his last name's first letter or something (initial). They offered me to take those classes for the SATs, too, I was like "f*** you guys, tryna jack mah 5H17! :O" You make a good point about being wealthy would help get you into college. For a second I thought about those who "wants" to go to college, yet can't afford it. Tomorrow I have to go with my parents to my school for some Financial Aid night for seniors. I don't really want to go, though I have no idea what to do for this anyways, but the only thing I really know is that it's very important, needed upon heavily, and you just gotta have it, haha. It'd be easy for people to treat college like HS. Either drive or even walk to college, and live at home and nothing really changes. See friends (if they're still around), work at whatever place you work at, etc. There are flaws and benefits in this case for sure. My friend got a loan, and I might do that as well and save my parents trouble. The total in four years, and I was looking over this in school today, is that after four years after this one college I might head to, would be a bit over 83K. BUT, I remember (if correctly) my guidance counceler (jesus, how do you spell this word) lady telling me it costs 33K to get in and that's not that bad. Yeah I know it's a lot of money, but hey a loan is like an "IOU" card. Heck, my DMM/Website Design teacher (same person) is still currently paying off his college loans (from like, ten years ago or something), lol. I think that's pretty sweet though. You won't have to worry about it, and you can slowly pay it off in life, and when you get like some high paying job for instance, you can pay it off faster, right? What are you going to college for anyways? ------- |
Re: The Single's Club~ ver II (Is singing time!!)

:\ Yep, college be hella expensive. The schools I want to go to are like around $25K a year plus my brother is in college too right now so yeah, my parents aren't looking forward to the bills next year. >_> Luckily my brother is smart and was able to get 2 scholarships so that cuts his tuition in half. I figure I should probably pull my own weight around, get a job or something. In CA we have a system of publicly owned colleges so there are like multiple tiers. Community college, state college and then the UC system. The really cool thing about this is if you take two years in a community college, you can transfer into any state college or UC that you want. That's a pretty good thing because the UCs rank pretty high in standards of colleges. Plus you save quite a bit of money this way. :\ Buuuut I probably won't do this cause I am a selfish person. ^-^;; I kind of want the experience of leaving home for the first time and stuff like that. In terms of what I'm going to college for, I'm not really sure yet. I only know that I don't want to do anything that has to do with math or science. ^-^;; I like reading/writing so maybe I'll major in English? It seems like a pretty versatile major. Oh well, I still have plenty of time to decide. Don't actually have to declare a major till junior year I think? o.o You said that you maybe wanted to go into computer graphics or something or the sort? |

lol So much college talk. I feel so out of it. I decided not to go to college since I never liked school. My parents didn't like my decision so much, but my cousin told me otherwise. @DA: lol That makes me feel kinda old. But eventually if I decide to and if I get bored. I might take some classes at the community college. But at this moment I am really lazy. :P @Onii-chan: Ok so imma go look at past posts then. Hopefully, I can pick up some clues. lol In this house, I am the one that is usually getting sick. So its usually me that has to go buy medicine. Or otherwise feel like crap for a week. T.T |

aah... teh damn expensive SATs.... I took 3 session of SAT tests back then and failed haaaard -_-;; It's like I wasted my money for just getting 1490-1620-1550.... no significant improvement on my work at all, but it is to be expected from a person who only studied on the day before the test ^^;; The math section is easy since it's junior level math, try to get a perfect 800 and score higher in the overall test I suck a lot at english and can only answer like, less than half of every section... It's like, "WTF is this alien language?!" not to mention the essay... I can only write about 2 1/2 paragraphs at best -_-;; but your mother language is english DA so maybe you can score higher ^^ good luck big bro

@DA Well, the SAT is called the Reasoning test for a reason lol. The test material is easy in itself, but there are many tricks inside. The test is not to test your knowledge, but to test your logic. read each question carefully, and be sure to use ALL the time they give you. Double check, triple check, quadruple check if you have to. Make sure you understand the questions fully. Oh and here is how they section off the SATs. 800 for the math sections 800 for reading sections 800 for writing sections. The writing section features an essay that you have to write, where two people will grade you on a scale of 1-6, and those will be added together, giving you a composite score out of a possible 12. That is half your writing section. How do I know all this? I'm one of those people that got forced to take courses... My dad saw my first SAT score, and forced me to take courses. They go over everything with you... srsly. |

[@Jow] Yeah, the one college's total tuition after four years would be like 80K! But you don't pay that much to get in, like the total is like 33K or something like that to get in, and then during the four years and until you graduate you would've paid around that much while attending the university. There are actually some colleges that cost that much though, that's ridiculous. My one friend's brother got into college (a well known local college in my state) for free, but he had to pay for some of it. Reason is is because their dad teachers at the university. He's some professor. Most colleges have a math course you'd have to take, haha. Most private schools only have it for the first year mostly, like Art oriented universities. And yeah, I said I might go for something in website design, because it's really the only thing I know how to do. Being a GFX Designer compared to a Website Designer is harder since I saw someone come down last year during my Digital Photography II class, and he showed us some of the projects and assignments he was working on at his college (I forget which it was), but you do some hard stuff. Actually, out of the Adobe Programs, or GFX related programs entirely, I only know how to use Photoshop (basics) and Dreamweaver, which is one of the simplest programs to use ever. I hate using Flash and it's been two years since I've tapped into anything relating to 3D design. Anyways, have you applied for any financial aid? My parents went to my school tonight (Financial Aid night), and they got some papers that I'll look over... sometime, lol... To be honest with you, I don't really have any inspiration inside of me to head on to college since one, I don't know what I wanna do, two, I'm pretty much being forced, or "pushed" into heading into college, and three, I hate school so much, haha. Though everyone tells me, or I just hear around that college life is so much better than high school. There are responsibilities, but like, it's just different, I can't really explain it anymore than that. [@GM] Oh my bad, I didn't mean it that way. Like I know you're older than me, but are you still in the college age? Can you still get into college after a certain age? Hmmm. I always thought community college is like what people do if they want to "take a year off" after graduating high school. [@H] Out of the scale, that's not failing, is it? If so I might be more domed than I thought I'd be, jesus. Explain more abaout this essay? Is there like, some minimum you have to be able to write? I hope they give you as much time as possible to finish, cause for these types of tests (like history tests, etc.) I usually am the last one to finish. I stink at test taking in general though, except for Math since it's much easier to some degree. I fail at open note/book quizes/tests, that's how badly I suck at tests. I hate trick questions and yeah, I'm hoping to do good in general, even though I think I might fail epically. D: [@L] Give me an example math problem. Actually, I went to collegeboard.com, and I found like an example question for the reading and it seems like the PSSAs I took last year. Not so difficult, just gotta re-read a lot of stuff (like I usually do). I first read the questions, then just skim through it and re-read sentences around to find the correct answer. I had an above average score, proficient score overall to pass, unlike a LOT of seniors this year who have to take remedial classes and they also have to re-take those exams, too, SUCKS!! Is it some like, fill in the correct circle type test? I'm guessing it would be so. Those numbers are large, for only three sections. I'm hoping to do my best in math, since it's the strongest out of those three. I do have rust in some old Algebra crap though, but ah, whatever, I'll figure it out somehow I hope. 800 for writing along? Jesus, what do you need to write? Like, a dozen different essay topics? They use these scales and like different grading styles that confuse me. Before it was like, 1600 points, now it's 2400 but they use the same grading scale as a 1600 test, or something. O.o` I hate writing because I write a lot, long time, and I put a bit of pressure onto my pen, ugh, and we have to use penCIL now, lame! I use pen 24/7, I never use pencils in schools unless we have to use scantron tests, then I have to ask the teacher for one. It'd be easier if we could type essays and whatnot for exams, but like, there's not enough for every student in the school, and people would probably type slower on a computer than writing it out. :/ And yeah, those SAT courses... jesus, a chunk of money right there. ------- |

@DA: I know, some private colleges are so expensive it's crazy! My cousin goes to George Washington University in DC which is the most expensive university not only in the nation, but in the world. It's like roughly around $50K+ a year. D: Luckily for him he gets a lot of financial aid because he comes from a single parent family and stuff like that. But seriously, he better make a lot of money when he gets out of college for going to such an expensive school. >_> The only financial aid I've really applied to is FAFSA. You've probably heard of it, I think it's national. Hopefully I'll be able to get some aid since they take into account familial income and if there are any other siblings currently attending college. Having one brother in college, my mom on disability and my dad probably going to lose his job next year, I better pray that we get at least a little bit of help. >.> And yeah, there are a lot of aspects of the future I'm not really looking forward to either. Compared to my friends, I'm not all that excited about college. It's not that I really want to study any particular field extensively but more like I probably won't be able to get a good paying job if I don't go to school. To tell you the truth, I'm pretty sick of school. I've had senioritis since like, freshman year. :P *sigh* Sometimes I wish I could just go to sleep and wake up graduated from college with a job and married. >_> [edit] =P I'm bored. Who wants to have a dicussion? |

@DA: lol its ok. I can still go to a college if I decide on it. But probably not. And Regardless of age, Community Colleges usually allow you in. I remember one of my friends took art classes at the Community College here. His class had quite a few 25-35 yr. olds. Its pretty common here. @Engel: Yesh its like all these Gundams/Mechas made into girls. The girls have no name but just recognized by color and weaponry on the image. lol I also joined on the Touhou-ist avys, but I don't use it as my default. I just change in the chat. lol Hmmm... Engel when you 1800 hrs. Whose 1800 hours is that? o_O @Onii-chan: lol I think I found out who now. Took me a while. Kira I am very slow at picking up things ok. Actually there's no such thing as failing an SAT test DA, it depends on your university requirement. The univ I applied back then requires a minimum of 1900.... I failed big time -_-;; For the essay, you must give an argument on your point of view about some kind of philosophical story, an introductory statement, give 3 real life example as why you took that point of view, and a conclusion paragraph... Yeah around 5 paragraphs should do it. It's as tense as heck since you need to think quickly about what example to use and maintain the paragraph cohesiveness.... wow engel just returned from her trip to ho chi minh? Dec 5 at 18:00 gendou time I assume? wait, 5 dec is... tomorrow? nice idea adel ^^ being a dj sounds fun but my english ish friggin baad... a nonverbal dj maybe? but I think we must have a specific music player to play them music on chat, no?
