I think that many people don't bother to read the rules, but many also don't understand what hotlinking really is. Mostly just not reading the rules, though. |

the short answer: mad skills. technical answer: user's web browser reports HTTP_REFERRER to apache via an HTTP header. apache reports the HTTP header to PHP via the $_SERVER variable. if HTTP_REFERRER is supplied but does not mach "gendou.com", the error is saved to my MySQL database for me to review later.

That sort of think can get you banned from Wikipedia. Doing the same sort of think here (continuously requesting a certain feature/song/ect.) would just have the same effect. Having classified the entry as neologism, it has been added to the deletion consideration list again. Perhaps you could follow the Wikipedia way and use their discussion page to argue the validity of Gendowned being included in Wikipedia. Either way, abide by the same behavior you would expect at this site: reading all rules, discusing problems instead of trying brute force, etc. Note also, at their Your first article page, the heading about extremely short articles, about 2/3 of the way down. |

Are we (or just Gendou?) evil enough to make a Xanga/LJ/MySpace/etc account for the sake of putting up an obnoxious comment (e.g. YOU'VE BEEN GENDOWNED, DON'T HOTLINK!) to annoy hotlinkers?? I mean, hotlinking really is bad, but going that far may be too mean, huh? Oh well, I still think it's funny how people respond to being Gendowned. :P |
