Someone just said it's annoying somewhere here tebayo~ gah~  ) well, whatever~ sorry for being offline for a few days, exams are going on but now I'm back and feeling great tebayo~! Weeh~!@ Bart Oh yay! A digital artist! You're pretty good at this~! "(^ω^)" I love the way you color and your originality is great too dattebayo~! And I can't believe you just did that on paint! @_____@ curiousness~ @ Eureka Oh lol, it's going to be chibi Kakashi next XD the chibi series will go on after I have created all the genins in Naruto (including Kakashi) and I will put them altogether in one big picture X3 that's me plan tebayo~! Weeh~!! Hay guys, got a new art! I overused the advantages of the pen tool, and put it into another use--cellshading~! Weeh~!  Oh, btw, this art is actually a gift for a gendou user's birthday X3 she's leona and I think she posts rarely here but she's pretty active in deviantart dattebayo~ XD Mistakes that I am aware of: ~ Kakashi's hair (kinda unbalanced) ~ Kakashi's foot (OH LOL! @Pappy: That was a great drawing of Rider. I bet the chain took a while to draw. I think the shading is great. One suggestion I would have is try using a different pencil besides HB. HB is good for laying the outline but is not so good for shadows because it is just not dark enough. You should start with a 2B pencil. You WILL love what you see. Great job! @Imppy: My first impression was: Yet another great color drawing from Imppy. I am very impressed. I need to work on my Photoshop technique a lot more. As far as the "mistake" goes, imperfection is what makes manga such a perfect medium because imperfection itself has a message as well. The only ambiguous thing about the drawing is I am not sure whether the character is sitting, crouching, or laying on grass. Some shadow would help. Great job. @Bart: I like your drawing even though they are black and white sketch. That's what I draw most of the time anyway. I don't know how much control you have with the brush on computer, but I think you should try finer brush tip. The second pic is a bit busy but the fighting spirit does come through. Great job. @Inferno: I grew up on Gundam and Macross so anything related to those, I love. We don't have nearly enough mecha drawing on this forum so it is nice to see your design. Love it. Now, as for me, due to time constraint and extreme laziness, here is my pen drawing of a character I made up while waiting for my computer to simulate stuff. For those who are new to my art, I like to draw with pen because I am too lazy to erase anything. :)) Please forgive the poorly shaped hand and the hair design from the 80's.   |

@Pappy Oooh.. Rider is hot, yup and you did do her justice... Yeah, agree with ben(withoutyou). Your character should be darker, it will stand out! @ Bart Sorry, for the late comment, missed reading your post. It was at the last of the page directly after mine. But if you say that you did it with Paint... Thats really cool. Considering all i can do is use and manipulate the lines... You manage to actually do some shading there, but its still kinda blurry me thinks... Maybe its because its used with paint... @Ben (Withoutyou) Oooh.. you did it with a pen... Thats DARING i must say. And judging by the size of the 'lines' this should be about the exact size of your drawing yes? I dont know why, but the bottom half of her thats on the left... Makes me stare at it for some reason... lol... Joking joking.. But really, you drew a really nice pair of legs there! lol AHA!!!! Your lazyness was clearly seen by me, BOTH legs are crossed. Making them easier to draw. I know from experience as well that a crossed leg is much easier to draw (since you can 'hide' one of em, and yet also looks better on girls... lol... Relax dont mind me, im just trying to find faults for those legs, so i can actually comment on something for you to work with... lol... Hey ask you a question regarding pencils. U see, i've used a mechanical pencil ALL MY LIFE... yes... since ever (even when i started drawing when i was like 4-5? Used my dad's XD)... So much so that till now, i cant get a feel on using normal pencils... You know what i mean? Usin M.Pencils; if i want it darker, i press harder, if i want it lighter, i lifts it abit... Its not like i didnt try, but actually more that i couldnt... It got really frustrating when my art teacher failed my drawing because i didnt use the pencil set... And thus i was assigned to a mechanical stream... I donno, what are your thoughts? Should i just continue as normal? Or try to make do with the sets as of now? You've seen my drawings... @Withoutyou yea i want the picture 2 be darker as well, but 2B is usually soft n get smudgy eazily =(. Usually i use 4h,2h,3h,HB lots of different eraser n wear a glove while drawing to try n keep it clean. The last time i used 2B or darker was on the picture of Miharu(Girls Bravo) which turned out very messy n dirty. I'll try 2B again on my nex piece n try to be more carefull. |

@Inferno: I drew that on a full sheet of 8.5x11 paper. It pretty much occupied the whole page. That should give you an idea of the actual size. I like drawing with pen because it really discipline my drawing skill. I am glad you enjoy staring at the legs. xD. I do that all the time. That's why I draw them. :) I totally agree with you about the crossed legs. Of course I didn't crossed the legs consistently between the two figures. My bad. Regarding your question on mechanical pencil, they are find for sketches, concept drawing, and situation where you need sterilized, clean lines, another words, line arts. Unfortunately, there is not enough variety of lead to choose from in the mechanical pencil realm. With a pencil you can tilt it to get a lot more coverage because there is a lot more contact area between the lead and the paper. IMHO, if I have the time, and if I want to produce something that has a wider tonal quality, I would definately use pencils because I get darkness that you can never get with and HB M. pencil. I love using 9B lead and even charcoal pencil for the hair. There is something satisfying about a richly dark hair that you can't get in any other way. Of course everything take some getting used to. Drawing with pencil is no exception. If you want to see some example, please check out my profile. I have done a few pencil drawing in my life time. @Pappy: Yes, darker pencil can get messy. What I usually do is to put a paper towel under my drawing hand so I don't accidently rug over the drawing. Try the 2B first on a few drawing and sketches. Once you feel that you have control over the darkness, you can try softer pencil. Sorry for the long post and thank you for your attention. |

Ahhhh the all the cool picture done with photoshops n painter. I think i'm going to spend the rest of the holiday figuring how to use them, so probably wun be posting any new drawings anytime soon unless i get in the mood  |

Sweet, there's not much mecha artist here, if i've ever seen one, it's mp4c, but he's not online lately... Well, i don't like mechas, but i like your skills! Anyway about the pencil issues, why don't you decide for yourself, do you want to boarden your knowledge of pencils, or you stick with the m. pencil and completely master it? Actually it doesn't matter if you can still make a good looking piece of art with only M. pencil. it's not like art is limited... @Roq Nice wolfwood! say, wanna try making a fanart of samurai champloo? Rather i request one... XD I like the drawing style from it, very expressive, and i'd like to see you do one! It should be interesting to draw... @Imppy Now that's what i call cel shading! Indeed, vector is a good stuff to make cel shadings... And you improved really much aren't you? That's the best vector work so far! It doesn't look like a flat paper cutout anymore... XD I must praise you for your usage of shadows there... Perfectly done *claps* Say, was that kakashi drawn completely by vector or did you trace your handmade lineart? If that's a pure vector then damn you're awesome O.o @Pappy God you're good... Really... I see no flaw from that picture... really identical to the original picture! @Without you Yet another pen drawing... I don't draw with pen because i don't want to run out of ink... >.< But to think you can differ the thickness of the ink in your shading... How did you do that?? |

@Imppy Very nice picture of kakashi, of all ur works tis is my favourite. I'm not a big fan of naruto but Kakashi is definitely 1 of my fav anime char. @Shinji Nice picture of maple story, i'v got many frens tat plays maple n hav seen tat picture card before. Juz curious is tat drawn in pencil or pen ??? |

Pappy:: Oh, I love Rider. I also use the circle method as well, but maybe I use less circles at times. It's a very nice lay-out, well done. Without You:: Cool, a blue pen drawing. Lazy drawing is what I do most of the time. If I'm not "in-the-mood" to draw, I'll "try" to draw, but end up getting really lazy. Diz the 80's wiz. :D Shinji:: The RPG sucks nowadays, but the drawing is nice. Well done, and it matches Maple Story's character design, too.

@Saikyou: It is a combination of pressure variation and layering. The pressure variation on a pen is more restricted compared to pencil so you don't get the smooth shading you would have with pencil. That's where layering comes in to remedy the situation. |

I can't draw with pen very well, even when I am just inking a drawing that was originally in pencil, I have to be uber uber cautious!! @Inferno FlameX: I recommend experimenting with the different kinds of pencils! I used to use 2h- 8B I think. Yeah, but now I only draw with my mechanical pencil :P For example (for others that are reading this) I drew my Gackt picture with several pencils, but drew Sai's favourite, Renton, with mechanical pencil. I think it pays to be skilled in both, and even if you don't like using multiple pencils, at least you have the knowledge of how to use them! And I would love to see your latest from 'book 3' lol. @Imppy: That is great! HIS FOOT IS BACKWARDS!!!!! OMG!!!! Imppy, I love you! You just made my day!!
