Re: Japanese Vocabulary

1) I'm not insulting japanese, otaku kid. 2) So what if you're bad at english? I'm not that great at it myself. Don't get me started on trying to learn japanese without a decent understanding of english. 3) I have nothing against people trying to learn japanese. After all, I am doing so myself. HOWEVER, if they must try to learn any language, they should do so proporly and not from anime. It's like the kids in japan right now. They are currently listening to rap and watching MTV and music videos and picking up english from it. How would you like it if a japanese person started walking up to you and talking about smoking weed and calling you all 'fuckers' and 'niggas' because they picked it up from MTV? It's the same thing with you and your anime! 4) weeaboo watching anime says "kutabare, amerika-jin"! Japan kid watching MTV says "FUCK YOU, CRACKA!" Same thing. 5) If you really are japanese, prove it. You should easily know what my username and the phrases I've said are. So then, translate.

I don't agree with Benpi's way of phrasing things, but I agree with what he's trying to get across. It really is quite annoying when you see "kawaiinekochandaisukidesu~~~" like every 2 posts. If you are to speak it, please make an attempt to learn it right (aka at school or private lessons) and not just pick up random phrases from anime. There are plenty of resources on the Internet and there is even a Japanese forum here. Sorry that we're language Nazis and we don't like Japengrishnese, but we also understand that you may not be very fluent in English. I'm learning Japanese so I can speak with Japanese people, not English people. Why would I mix them together? That's like speaking Chinese to say, someone from native Africa. That's just dumb. Otaku-killer, Japanese use English in their language because they don't have their own word for it, that's why they take words from other languages like Chinese, English, German, and French. |

man, what's with the commotion over here? cool down, dudes. i do think that Benpi has a point. however, i'm not really impressed by the frequent usage of the cliched word "fuck". since the argument is that "if you want to do something, do it the proper way", why not just express your feelings with proper phrasings and not always depend on foul language? :D

lololol Usually, I give people dirty looks if they use fanjapanese irl, or I make a point of ignoring them On the internets, I usually require people to write with the actual japanese characters and not romaji, otherwise I automatically assume they're messing around. In which case I just tell them to stick to english. 8D That, or find an actual tutor or something. Okay, I'm done alienating you people. 8D

Uh, ãらㄠ(kirai) is not the antonym of ãれㄠ(kirei). ãらㄠmeans dislike. It is the antonym of ã™ã (suki: like, love). This is why you should learn a language seriously, and not gather bits and pieces from anime and pretend it makes you cool. I agree with everything Benpi has said thus far. |

Umm... Thanks, Euphony. I guess. You whack job. As for 'shiroyuu'... You've got it all wrong, man. I mean, seriously. All of it. You can not consider a word cliche. If that's the case, 'the' is a very cliche word and let's not for get about the ever popular 'a' and it's good friend 'I'. Don't even get me started on 'it'. Secondly, there is nothing improper about the word fuck. ...Unless you're trying to impress someone. Then it's very improper. Third, no one is dependent on a certain type of word. Now, I may have used them but that is to put a certain sense to my point as well as a certain degree of insult. Also, curse words and such are often one of the first (and possibly only) things people will learn of a language. Four... You're made of bacon, jim! Expand the bananas!

ã‚ã®ã†ã€‚。。 Back to the original topic... (>_>) I don't actually use 日本語 that much in daily life, because I live in 'English-country'... (e.e;;) However, there are some words that I still can't get out of my system: ãˆã£ï¼Ÿï¼ (huh?! / what?!) ; ãˆï½žã‡ï¼Ÿï¼Ÿ (whaaaaat??) ã‚ã~ãï¼ï¼ (whoooaaa!! / ahhhh!!) ; ã„や~ãï¼ï¼ (nooooo!!) ã‚ãƒ¢ãƒƒï¼ ï¼ ã‚ãƒ¢ã‚¤ï¼ (creepy! / gross! / yucky!) → (short for æ°—æŒã¡æ‚ªã„。) ^^;; ã™ã”ã„ï¼ (wow! / great! / amazing!) ã†ã‚“。 (yeah.) ; んんん… (well...[no].) ã„ã¦ã‡ã£ï¼ (owch!) → (slang for ç—›ã„。) 何ã§ï¼Ÿ (what? / why?) And I use name suffixes, like ~ã¡ã‚ƒã‚“ï¼ï½žã‚Šã‚“ã€only when I'm talking about my Japanese friends. ★ It's hard to remember everything you say in daily life.. ã‚„ ãã‚“ï¼ï¼Ÿï¼ (><) |

ã... Rika-chan... ã‚ãƒ¢ãƒƒï¼ ï¼ ã‚ãƒ¢ã‚¤ï¼ (creepy! / gross! / yucky!) → (short for æ°—æŒã¡æ‚ªã„。) ^^;; Do japanese people actually use that? Or is that just your creative way of making new words...? ^^; |

本当 ã§ã™ よ。 Japanese people actually use this word ―but it's only young people ã。 It's also slang. My Japanese host sisters taught it to me, and all of my Japanese friends use it. ♪ (^-^)v You can read about 「ãã‚‚ã„〠and other words like these here ! ★ What's strange.. is that I've never seen characters in anime, dramas, or other Japanese shows use slang like 「ã‚モイã€ã€ã€Œãƒ ズイã€ã€ or 「オモãƒã‚¤ã€ (short for é¢ç™½ã„。)... I wonder why...??? ※ ã¨ã“ã‚ã§ã€there are words that I've made up myself when I was in Japan.. My friends call it 「りã‹èªžã€ï¼ï¼ (^-^;;) 笑 |

Hmm, that's why i asked... Never heard expressions like that in any anime before... Hehe, i'm simply a learner by anime...-_- Muzui... I never thought that's a slang for muzukashii... Japanese like to shorten things don't they... |

(笑) Now that I'm not taking Japanese classes anymore, I'm also keeping my skills up and learning by watching anime, and other Japanese shows... (^^;;) ã¯ã„ã€ãã® ã¨ãŠã‚Šã€‚ (Yes, you're exactly right.) Japanese people certainly like to shorten words. In this way, they're lazy when it comes to speaking their language.. ↠(My Japanese friend told me this!) 笑 You sure are smart, Sai-san! ★ (^o~)v Oh! Another example is: プリクラ (those little pictures you take in Japanese photo booths) → (short for プリント クラブ。) I love these! v(^O^)v |
