Re: do you like to speak japanese??

Yes, I enjoy speaking Japanese. Safe to say not one soul around me knows Japanese nearly as much as I do (which isn't much either). My brother understands what I say every once in a while, but other than that, no one. He can't speak back or anything, so it's kinda weird. My friends at school...have no idea. I don't curse loudly though. ^^; I don't like cursing. It's fun.... but still annoying when people around you can't speak back. Now that's plain boring. Here, even English is tough for people (even though it's very British influenced). You can't expect them to know anything about Japanese, let alone speak it or read/write, etc. At least I can convey certain points, and deliver certain messages to my brother without my parents having a clue! I while away my time often translating songs, too. ^^ it's fun. But it's somewhat hard considering unless I translate, my friends and my family have no clue what they're listening to, if they listen to it. I wish there were more people to speak with who speak back, or at least understand what you're saying. And correction is a huge problem. When people don't even know what you're saying, it's hard to improve because they can't help correct you... Sometimes mother-tongue doesn't affect people. Mine is such a case. I know English ten times better than my mother tongue...and my parents keep yelling at me, telling me to speak more of it... If you have the interest in a language that much, it's ok if you aren't familiar with it's base structure - just learn. But most of all, learn properly! I had no clue that 'Jap' was insulting! I thought it was used commonly as a short form for Japanese or Japan (though that's short on it's on)..If I ever used that, many apologies! ![]() |

Hai! Unfortunately, I don't have anyone in my area that speaks Japanese other than my teacher; so I don't really get an opurtunity to speak it. Oh, and reading the thing about saying 'Jap' It bothers me to death. However, chink doesn't bother me :O And I'm not Japanese or Chinese ... but whatever. ^^; the only reason I'm not bothered by saying chink is because of a guy who kept saying it; but I'm still offended when someone says 'Japs' especially plural. O.o |

| Well, after watching a handful of anime, I started searching online for japanese phrases and so when i saw the spelling "arigato" and saying it in my head, "arigato' wud obviously sound familiar, its the same with every/any other word/character. I'm chinese, and I'm pretty much addicted into anime! XD! So yea, I really enjoy speaking a lil of it! ^^ |

| Hmmm, yeshh! Lol, speaking japanese >>>>>> writing skills. Ahaha, my speaking japanese skills beast my writing skills... from what I've heard, I'm really great at it. :'D I take japanese in school, and came in second place (poo on second! ;_; I wanted first) in an NJ intermediate speech competition. I just enjoy it a lot more than writing is all. :3 |

I find speaking Japanese is most pleasureable when I'm drunk for some reason. Sometimes I will belt out incantations or simply say "excuse me". Perhaps it's because I'm more at ease with the confidence of my Japanese-speaking when under the influence of alcohol, but whatever the reason, being drunk seems most fun. |

Hmm...I like to speak Japanese, but I think I'm probably too nervous to really speak to a Japanese person. I've been studying the language on my own for about 6 years, and it's been really tough, but I have a semi-decent grasp on most of the basic grammar. What I like most is singing in Japanese, because then I actually sound like I'm Japanese xD Anyway, I would probably speak more, but I don't think there is any Japanese speakers anywhere near where I live (it's hard to find Japanese people south of Atlanta >_<). Maybe we should all get a Ventrillo channel and practice speaking to each other. xD |

Can really make it hard. |

日本語を話ã™ã€‚好ãã§ã™ã€‚ What I said was "I speak Japanese. I like it." I've been taking Japanese for three years now in school, and I plan to take it during college as well. I'm pretty good at getting the exact translation of a lot of songs that some people have not perfectly translated here... |
