Alright, let's do a thorough analyze. Kira: 2 years out of shape (assuming all he does is just sitting in the chair watching the ocean......) he can still slice off most machines he wants. Back in the seed times he's the one that takes on four elite ZAFT pilot in machines that matches his and still be able to hold off. Mind you, back then he's pretty much doing it all by himself, Mwu helped a bit, but not as much as luna and rey did for shin. Kira's strong point is shooting, close combat's just not his style. What he lacks in training he makes up with his genes(ultimate coordinator) and luck. the only reason i think why he lose to shin is because shin take advantage of his "No Aiming At The Cockpit) policy. Athrun: dont know if he's been doing any training in the 2 years timespan, but not on MS training, that's for sure. Compare to kira he's a real soldier with all the required trainings. The only downside to his piloting skills is that he always seems to blow up his own MS (either he gets bored of it or it's just his hobby) Athrun's style of combat is more of a close combat than shooting, as we can see that he pretty much owned destiny both times..... (and the first time he's a heavily injured patient) Shine: Well, here's the main character. For the two years he must've been under intense training on all fields (especially as an elite) so it's logical for him to be as good as he is now. What he lacks is experience and a cool head to analyze things through. Compared to kira and strike gundam, shin actually have an advantage because he dont need to watch out for energy drainage, and being able to change limbs for the impulse instantly helps him greatly too. A lot of times shin only knows how to take action, and most of the time his teammates have to tell him "NOW SHIN, DO XXX/ FIRE XXX". Even going against freedom, without rey's anaylzes, he wouldn't do as much damage as he did. Combat wise i'd say he's a pretty balanced pilot. Another factor: SEED Kira: honestly, ever since he got freedom he can summon seed whenever he wants. And maybe it's just my illusions, but it seems like it gets to a point where shin's seed is more powerful than his? Athrun: the one with the fewest seed explode of the three. His seed are just so powerful that it even overrides shin's seed. Every time he have seed, destiny lose an arm, or in the final episode, almost everything. Shin: our newfound seed bearer. his seed are powerful against common enemies as the event on orb. but aside from that, most of the time that he have seed, all he can do is just dodge a bit faster, or use more power to push other's aside. In comparison, when kira's his age, kira's seed enable him to execute some crazy manveurs. First is Kira as he has the coolest machines in both Gundam Seed and Seed Destiny and also being the ULTIMATE COORDINATOR. And not to mention in Seed Destiny he took down 25 units of ZAFT mobile suits in just 2 minutes(Episode 39)and defeated Rey(Raww Le Cruz). Second would be Athrun. This is because he always seems unsure of what he is fighting for until the last minute where he always decides that he should join his buddy Kira. I think he is kinda cool because he specialises in close combat since his Infinite Justice is FULL of beam swords...shield, leg etc. He also manages to take down Destiny and Impulse in seed mode. Last would be Shinn as he is always fighting for revenge which is useless...Although he has earned quite a number of medals I don't understand what is so good about destroying the Earth Alliances ships which are just sitting ducks unlike mobile suits which can actually dodge his Beam swords. The only reason he defeated Freedom was because he placed Freedom's data into the battle stimulator and took advantage of Kira's weakness(not hitting the cockpit). But when Kira came back with Strike Freedom Shinn was totally lost...If the fight was on a deserted island...Destiny would lose since it can actually run out of power unlike Strike Freedom which runs on nuclear power.

Kira is the best out of the three for a couple of reasons. 1) He's the ultimate coordinator, and can activate SEED mode at will. 2) Freedom is the second-coolest Gundam out of all the series (coolest being WingZero Custom) 3) Strike Freedom's Super DRAGOONs can be easily used by Kira and his Newtype skills 4) Kira fights for a good reason, unlike Shinn Athrun second cause... 1) He is willing to blow himself up to save others 2) can tell the difference between right and wrong Shinn last cause... 1) He's still bent on revenge towards ORB 2) He's like Rey's puppet 3) He forgets about Stellar almost instantly, and goes for Luna 4) He thinks he is superior to everyone except for that ZAFT chairman(watever his name was) 5) He's still wondering what's good and bad

My Mistake... ATHRUN was the Best Pilot..SHINN next and KIRA last..(do i hate kira that much?..nah..not really..) That's far from any results Kira could ever produce. He could never disable Destiny, even when he was in SEED mode, and Shinn was not. In fact, he was having big problems just keeping up with SEED Shinn. And I don't think we need to mention that neither one of them tried to kill the pilot. But Athrun was the only one who could produce any results. It's the same back in SEED against the druggies where Kira was always one step behind. Athrun is the trained fighter, Kira is not. He's exceptional in fighting none the less, but Athrun is a natural at this as well, and better at that. In comparable situations, Athrun has performed above Kira and Freedom every single time. Whether it's in SEED or SEED Destiny. Comparing Kira to Shinn is more interesting though, as things between them were pretty even. Normal Athrun > SEED Shinn SEED Kira = SEED Shinn? Athrun and Shinn kill the pilots along with the mobile suit. Kira tries to avoid attacking the cockpit at all costs, except in vital missions and battles, such as battling a large army in space, with only the METEOR to use as a weapon. In the battle between Kira and Shinn, Shinn didn't care where he hit, as long as he'd down the Freedom. Kira, on the other hand, was trying to avoid hitting Shinn, as well as concentrating on the battle. Believe me, if Kira was serious during the battle with Shinn, one Hi-MAT and Shinn would be dead, just like that. Also, in the last episode, they weakened Shinn, and made Athrun stronger. In reality, as long as Shinn was still in SEED, he would have had a chance to beat Athrun, but they wanted to make it more dramatic, and made Athrun go SEED at the last second. SEED Kira PWNS ALL!!! Kira = SEED Athrun Athrun = SEED Shinn

Shinn is a horrible pilot. not only that, He needs a major attitude adjustment. Kira is way too gentle. If he wasn't such a good pilot, his gentleness would have killed him a long time ago. Athrun is the best pilot of the three, not doubt about it.

| I say Athrun is the best pilot. True Kira is the ultimate coordinator but he's not a soldier at heart nor was he specifically trained. Not having that mindset was a factor for him losing to Shinn in the Impulse. Shinn isn't a horrible pilot but being too cocky was his downfall. Athrun was able to hold out against the Destiny for a good while in an inferior suit. As mentioned before, we've seen that Normal Athrun > SEED Shinn. If Kira is actually serious we know he can do all sorts of damage but personally I don't like his style of spamming his shots. It makes me believe Kira was only as good as he was thanks to his suit. Athrun on the otherhand has proven that he's a very capable pilot and also his shooting accuracy outside of a mobile suit is astounding! Seeing that he is the most balanced pilot I give him my top honours. I'm a bit biased too because I prefer close range too. |

If any of you play SRW (Super Robot Wars) games,you will notice that Kira and Athrun are actually on the same level.Here's how it goes: -Kira has higher stats than Athrun on shooting accuracy and Long-range attacks. -Athrun has higher stats than Kira on dodging bullets and melee attacks. So there you have it.If it's a sword-fight,Athrun would win.If it's gun-fight,Kira would win.But since both of their gundams can use both,who knows who would win the fight.I assume these stats are accurate and reflect the pilot skills in the anime,just like how Bandai and Banpresto would like them to be. Shinn on the other hand is just a spoiled-whiny-brat which I don't really care much of.Besides Athrun owned him like a pimp daddy in the anime.That much tells you of his "significance role" in the series. |

| Shinn is the best pilot.Kira is powerful because his gundam extremely powerful.Athrun lost to Kira twice(Aegis being beaten by Strike and Saviour bieng destroyed by Freedom),Kira lost to Shinn,Shinn lost to Athrun.so they all are equal. |

I agree with Synai. Athrun is definately the best of the three as he's actually able to keep his cool in battle [Well, most of the time anyway]...Kira's just too emotional for his own good.

1. Kira- come on... he was taking both shin and rey pretty well, if he had wanted to KILL them, he couldve done so long ago. Also hes done his fair share of pwning against other gundams/ships with the original strike gundam. It is NOT just the suit... in destiny he even got back into the cockpit of the strike and was doing well in a outdated suit. 2. Athrun- He doesn't know what hes fighting for half the time, but his combat abilities are still by far above that idiot shins 3. Shinn- WHY! do people praise him for going around slicing up warships that cant even DENT his armor? He ignores all his comrades as he goes around hackslashing everything that cant touch him. and HOW! can anyone NOT dodge a STRAIGHT charge with a large sword? |

I like Athrun better, but for me it would be: 1.Kira Yamato- is the better pilot. He tries not to kill anybody and still stays in the game. 2.Athrun Zala- is an awesome pilot! He has the most cool during battles...well most of the time. 3.Shinn Asuka- Shinn is third b/c of his attitude. He's still a good pilot though. Then agian, Athrun is REALLY good too...arrgg.. I'm gonna have to re-think this. |

Athrun vs kira-Athrun defeated kira when they fought near orb cause Athrun Self-destructed Aegis and ran away while kira was still in the cockpit.. Athrun vs Shinn-Obvious winner... during the last epi of GSD.. Athrun could fight on the same lvl as shinn using his seed while Athrun did not use his seed..When athrun used his seed, Shinn was defeated in an instant... Shinn vs Kira-Shinn won when he piloted impulse and destroyed Freedom.. Finnal judgment:Athrun IS DA BEST!!
