Otakus overseas are kinda "luckier" than those from japan... We act, talk, think a bit different than them... (try watching "Densha Otoko"... you'll see some Otaku Magic!) Kneel Before the Great and Benevolent Cow! |

People are dumb.If I'm considered weird for liking anime so be it and what exactly is weird people can think that their "normal" and really their the weird ones.Well anyways I think people used words like Jerk and ya know weird the usual because the people saying these things think that liking Anime and Manga isnt the norm.(whatever that is)I think I was just rambling im not quite sure if I answered your question probably not. |

Otaku's not wierd... its just hobby, like someone collect wine in different age... its normal expression form human. |
Re: are anime fanatics realy weird?

I agree, just a hobby. Although it can grow into an obsession. Some schools have Anime club here in Japan, and the people in those tend to be quite weird. I don't think the word "abunai" actually affects them when they walk into the adult section of an Anime store. But most otaku here are normal enough, partly helped by the fact that everyone is in some way an otaku. 80% of Japan's publishing is Manga/Anime may I add. Now that is weird, collecting wines from different ages - especially since the preferred wines are l'AOC French Wines; which (and I'm no expert on the subject) normally taste disgusting. Why can't France use SWEET grapes like everyone else in the world who are stealing their wine market and leaving France with a surplus of 250000000 litres of wine (don't know in gallons). Mostly stored in Bordeaux may I add, which is more boring than everyone thinks. If you are going to southern France, avoid Bordeaux unless you like red brick terraces and the taste of Violets. Visit the Pyrenees instead. Then again I digress, and I just wanted to talk. I actually have nothing against wine or France, because one makes you drunk, and the other has some beautiful places and a language that I can speak. hehe. UncleChan in a less than normal mood :D |

Otaku's is Otaku's and everyone gues is a hobby... the 'real' otaku rarely wierd... because some of them very love an anime or manga world... even they love the boy/girl in the anime or manga better than real world. |

If anime fanatics are weird... then more than 3/4 of gendou members are weird... conclusion: no anime fanatics are not weird hope that's clear enough lols anywaes i'm an anime freak myself. oh and about this post: People think im weird co'z i watch anime and sing jap songs even though i don't understand any of the lyrics. But they didn't consider themselves weird when they were singing F4/Meteor Garden songs. Considering the logic is the same. The only difference are the languages. ;) i sing jap songs too!! whoots! hi five! |

well, I agree, if all of you say that's otaku is just a hobby coz I think it's was the same one as if someone collect stamps, books, wines or something like that. I think it is an normal hobby that anyone could do!! So, although they say that otaku is an freaks, I don't think so because we do that anyone do when they love something! ps: this was my first post, nice knowing all of you |

Lies. Anime fanatics are so strange, they would even call themselves strange. I know this guy who lives near me, goes to the same school as me, and even has the same parents as me, who would go to great extents to express himself as a strange person (for example, declaring it publicly on a forum), merely because he finds it amusing, plausibly due to the influence of anime individuals whose characters, too, he considers amusing. What a strange, strange person indeed. Obviously such people are weird. Obviously. *goes off to hug a mokona* |

Anime is quite popular among Singaporean youths from what I can see. A lot of people listen to jpop as well, and I don't feel that language is that important in a song. If it was why would people listen to classical music for example, where there are no words? |

my friends think people who watch animes are freaks . they say im great in any other ways besides animes . when i say a guy from anime is handsome or cute, they think im mad and will ALWAYS say those guys are fake . well i know they are fake but they're really cute :( and also they say all anime characters look the same, girls having big boobs and big eyes . its quite sad actually . i wish more people will like animes cuz the stories in animes are really nice . |

one of my best friends hate anime and manga. for her own reasons. but that doesnt stop me from reading manga and watching anime. and that doesnt stop her from being my best friend too. conclusion: whether anime fanatics are weird or not, who cares. the only problem is when people start isolating one for being too obsessed in something.

Being into anime is not weird at all. Most people aren't into anime so when some one is into it, people say that it's weird. But in my opinion, one of these days, anime will become so popular that it will be totally normal to be into anime. XP

Ive been called an Otaku once because I like anime but im more into vid games so i cant be one. That black kid probably didnt know the real meaning of Otaku ummm i think it means master of anime or something like that since they all collect those action figures and stuff. Like I know Otakus in japan have most of their gundam mobile kit collection and theyre all hentai lovers for some reason.. Japanese people are soo perverted for some reason. and they have small sausages too, and why are hot girls into baldy ojii-sans anyway? I bet all asians like anime maybe and i hate spanish people liking anime because they sub it into spanish and not english most of the time darn mexicans!! |

Re: are anime fanatics realy weird?

i dunno..how do you consider yourself as an anime freak?if you talk about anime all the time or what?someone pls clarify.. is ths freaky enough?i went for a school trip and me and my roommate were chatting before falling asleep and whenever we needed to switch topics, she would go "all i wanna talk about is how cute hakkai is." what i really think is weird is when someone never even watch anime before, they assume they wouldnt like it and totally refuses to even try just once.
