(Unfortunatly so... *Sighs* hopefully next time I can focus more on developing other player characters a bit more. That'd probbaby keep the rp alive for much longer. Oh, and speaking of the next one. I already prewrote the tutorials for the next one (That's more story-based). Considering these first basically go over the base it shares with MD, they could be useful here for referance. Most noteable is the one including unison attacks. If you guys can get it from the tut, then you're free to use it now.(At bottom)) Edit: Whoops. Your PARTY, their stats, the ENEMY, and their stats. As you can see, this'll be important, since here you can see all the basic information for your party. TO include actions you can execute in the battle are also listed at the start. Another thing that is shown at the start of the battle is the BATTLE ORDER. ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ Battle Order: Klien->Siiya->Mr. Happy ~Info~ Keckz: Did you notice that the order of attack is from the person with the highest Speed (SPD) to the person with the lowest Speed (SPD) value? SPD governs which turn a character will attack. In this case, Klien goes first. Now to attack... Klien: I know that. Simply choose Attack (ATK) from the combat options, then designate who you're attacking. Like this: ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ Klien Buregart HP: 30/30 SU: 20/20 Status: Perfect Mr. Happy HP: 20/20 SU: 0/0 Status: Perfect ~Klien's Turn~ Klien->ATK->Mr. Happy *Klien runs to the dummy, and slams it with his metal pipe* Attack Calculation: 10 - 5 = 5 Mr. Happy Took 5 Damage! ~Result~ Klien Buregart HP: 30/30 SU: 20/20 Status: Perfect Mr. Happy HP: 15/20 SU: 0/0 Status: Injured ~Info~ Keckz: Right. Exactly. Now, Klien's action was composed of several different parts. The first part is Klien's and his Target's Status before he executed his turn. Notice that his status only shows his SU and his HP, as well as his current state. The only time you'll ever have add on other values such as their ATK is when a spell or ailement affects the value of the status. The Second Part starts with the action Klien did. Klien simply chose to attack, then designated his target. The part that says ATTACK CALCULATION is where the stats come in. For a normal attack the attack is calculated as: (Attacking Character's Attack Value) - (Target's Defense Value) = Total Damage Dealt. The final part of Klien's turn is the RESULT which displays Klien and the Target's state afterwards. As you can see, the dummy already lost a quarter of it's HP. It's status is now INJURED to reflect this. ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ Siiya: Nice job Klien! Klien: We're not done yet. Siiya: Okay, I'm going to try a SKILL. ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ Siiya Hayate HP: 20/20 SU: 30/30 Status: Perfect Mr. Happy HP: 15/20 SU: 0/0 Status: Injured ~Siiya's Turn~ Siiya->SKIL->Raging Blast->Mr. Happy *Siiya runs up to the dummy, and punches it with her hand, when the punch lands, the area hit begins to grow red* Siiya: Raging Blast! *Instantly, a red orb if energy forms around Siiya's fist and explodes* Attack Calculation: (8-5) + (4-5) = 4 -> (1 Mag - Enemy Def) + (1 Atk - Enemy Def) = (Total Damage) Mr. Happy took 4 Damage! Mr. Happy was knocked over! ~Result~ Siiya Hayate HP: 20/20 SU: 28/30 Status: OK Mr. Happy HP: 11/20 SU: 0/0 Status: Injured/Knocked Over (Skip 1 Turn) ~Info~ Keckz: OKay, Sia decided to do use a skill. Sure the result looks the same, but it's really not that complicated. The first part is just like Klien's. Showing Siiya and the dummy's status. (note the dummy's status reflects what Klien had done the turn before) But 2 parts afterwards is a bit different. Because Siiya chose to use a SKIL the attack option she chose is just a bit longer. When you choose SKIL you have to specify the skill you are using and then then the target. All your special attacks can be acessed by selecting SKIL. While being powerful they can also have some useful effects. Now you wonder why the attack calculation is different? And how the enemy was knocked over? Finally, why did Siiya's SU decrease? Well to answer that, lets look at the skill info sheet for "Raging Blast". Raging Blast Su Cost: 2 SU Attack Calculation: 1 MAG + 1 ATK Element: Fire Special Effects/Notes: Medium chance enemy will be knocked over. Description: Strike the enemy and unleash a quick burst of energy. Ah, so you see? The attack calculation for each and every Skill is different. In this case, Raging Blast was Siiya's ATK plus her MAG. Thus, it made the attack more stronger opposed to doing a normal attack. More powerful special attacks could be composed of several magical or physical strikes which would multiply the amount of hits to say X 4 Atk or X 2 Mag. Though what kind of skill that might be is up to your ability to make one. One must remember that you still have to subtract BOTH your ATK and MAG values by the enemy's DEF before multiplying and adding them together for damage calculation. Next, why did Mr. Happy get knocked over? Well, if you look at the Special Effects/Notes section, it states that there is a medium (50%) chance the enemy will be knocked over. In this case, Siiya got lucky. There is an array of chances for a skill to take affect. Small (25%) Medium (50%) and High (75%). Perfect chance means the enemy will be affected 100% of the time when they are hit with the attack. Because of the Knocked Over status, Mr. Happy must skip a turn! And last, why did Sia's SU decrease? Simple. Using a skill costs SU points to execute. If you dont have enough/run out, then you cant use the Skill anymore. (SU is fully recovered at the end of the battle) Also note you never have to post the skill sheet in the middle of a fight. ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ Keckz: Alright, use what you just learned to finish off that dummy! Klien: Oh really? Shouldnt you at least be equipped with something to fight with Keckz? Kinda being unfair to yourself... Siiya: You arent thinking about attacking Keckz, are you? Siiya: *blushes* O-oh... Thanks. Earned AP: 5 ~~~~~~~~~ ~Info~ At the end of each battle you are awarded Ability Points (AP) which goes towards character upgrades. Same amount of AP is rewarded to each participant; even if the last monster is beaten by another player. Though, everyone can still do a victory skit like the one above. Su and HP are also fully recovered. ~Unanswered Questions~ Q: Who decides whether a special effect activates? A: I'll trust the people who control the character. What I suggest is that you have a peice of paper and draw a circle, dividing it into 4 parts. Then, when you do have to decide whether a skill will happen by designating which sections will allow or not allow the skill to take effect, depending on the chance. There is only a 25%-50%-and 75% chance set. (out of 4 chances) so you can fill in the rest of what you should do. Q: Who controls enemies? A: Generally me. Unless if your characters go berserk, betray the party or the like. You can control enemies if you ask me beforehand. These present another part of battle you need to keep in mind. These are buttons for switching characters. You'll also notice "VANGUARD" now written by the names of the battle participants, this tutorial will go over them. Klien: Siiya! That Bulle didnt even flinch! Keckz: Hmmm, well, why dont you try to do a unison attack? Klien: Huh? Keckz: Just follow my instructions, both of you. Siiya: I hope this officer training thing works out well for us... ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ ~Info~ Keckz: Sometimes, your character'll get terribly injured, or when you have an enemy who has many spread attacks. When this happens, you can call some of your characters to the back of the battle where they cant be attacked. This is a basic action called SWITCH which allows your characters to be put in back from harms way. At the start of the battle, all characters are at the frontline, these are the Vanguard. Vanguard are able to attack, but at the same time vunerable to attack. When you want one of your vanguard to temporarily retreat to safety, you simple have to choose the SUPPORT option when their turn comes up. ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ Siiya Hayate (Vanguard) HP: 14/20 SU: 30/30 Status: Injured ~Siiya's Turn~ Siiya->Support Siiya: *runs to the back* Klien! Being in support has several advantages. To list out some: Not targetable Restores 2 SU for each turn after they take Support position. (Can increase amount recovered and HP recovery with Perk upgrades. Can perform an "Attack Switch" Can perform an "Unison Attack" (Requires Unison Attack Perk) So basically yes. Characters all go into the feild as Vanguard at the beggining of the battle. A character can be called to support at any time. (Even when they're incapacitated, however, that also means they cannot be switched back) To include, once one of the vanguard is switched, the character may only switch between another vanguard; so you can no longer have the two characters on the field at the same time. There is, also a more effective way of switching. Called and ATTACK SWITCH where the the Vanguard makes a strike, then the Support character attacks after while switching them in the process. Firstly, one of them inflicts damage while also switching the character. Though attack switch is useful, there is only a small setback to it. When two characters do execute this, the character who goes into support is locked in support for at least 2 more turns. Best to keep this in mind so you dont send out a near KO'd character who cant switch back to the safty of SUPPORT. These are the basics of Vanguard and Support system. There exists an advanced version of the attack switch called UNISON ATTACK. Which is to be covered a few more turns from now. ~Perk Skill Unison Attacks~ *A few turns later* ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ Klien: We almost have it now! Siiya: I-it's worth a try... ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ ~Info~ Keckz: Unison attacks are another branch off of the Vanguard and Support system, which adds a bit more depth to it. It is special in several ways: Allows 2 characters to use a skill simultanously. Can or wont function as a way to switch characters, at the controller's will. Can be executed between a SUPPORT and VANGUARD character. But can also be executed with just 2 VANGUARD. Can only be done with two characters doing a SKIL at the same time. This is just a slight outline about what one would want to know to get interested. Now, for those who may intend to use it, let us see how it is used. ~Klien's Turn~ Klien Buregart (Vanguard) HP: 20/30 SU: 20/20 Status: Injured Siiya Hayate (Support) HP: 8/20 SU: 30/30 Status: Critical!/Support Bulle (Vanguard) HP: 24/80 SU: 0/0 Status: Critical! ~Klien's Turn~ Klien->Unison->Siiya->Air Splitting Sword + Raging Blast->Bulle Klien and Siiya: Air Splitting Blast! *Siiya makes an orb of energy in her fist, and strikes Bulle into the air as she makes it explode on impact, Klien slashes into the air, and makes a blade of wind strike through the enemy* Attack Calculation: (10 - 5)x 3 + (4 - 5) + (8 - 5) = 20 X 2 = 40 Bulle took 40 Damage! Bulle was KO! ~Result~ Klien Buregart (Vanguard) HP: 20/30 SU: 14/20 Status: Injured Siiya Hayate (Support) HP: 8/20 SU: 27/30 Status: Critical!/Support x 2 Bulle (Vanguard) HP: 0/80 SU: 0/0 Status: KO! ~~~~~~~~~ ~Info~ Keckz: Now that did much damage! So you can see at the start, Klien designated who whe wanted to do a unison attack with, what two attacks where to be combined, and who the strike was aimed at. The unison attack was simply the combination of two Skil. Note that a Unison attack can only be executed with 2 skil, not 1 skil and 1 normal attack. Attack calculation was done by adding damage of the two skil as if they had struck independently. Unison attacks give the sum of the two calculations a double damage bonus (Shown by the 20 x 2 in the calculation). On another note, the two characters dont have to actually trade their vanguard and support positions after a Unison attack (though they can). In fact, a unison attack can be done with two vanguard characters. (The only requirements is that one of them have the required perk, and the other character hasnt taken their turn yet). Though Unison attacks are powerful, they, like ATTACK SWITCHING make the character still in support unable to switch for another 2 turns. Also, the SU costs for the special attacks are increased by x(1.5). The same goes for doing a unison attack with two vanguard characters; the only difference is that instead of being unable to switch for two turns, the other person performing the unison attack skips their turn for the round. ~~~~~~~~~~ ~Victory!~ Siiya: Unison...
