Hi!
Just for all of you know this is my first post in this forum and sorry if I don't state my real name (I don't like to reveal my real name straightly, hehehe...) so you can call me just with my nickname. I like to join this thread because its about Japanese language and I'm still learn about it.

Currently I'm a Japanese-English translator of one manga scanlation team (if you read the scanlated MPD Psycho manga from 10th volume you'll know the name of the team) so I hope I can contribute something here since I believe I have so much knowledge in Japanese language but again as I state before I'm still in learning progress so maybe I can't answer all questions.

Now, maybe I'll start with read all of the posts here...

@mamoru: You are so great in Japanese, I guess you already passed level 2 of Noryoukushiken (International Japanese Proficiency Test), eh? I Hope we can share each other knowledge in Japanese language or maybe you can help me to translate some crucial Japanese text? hehehe...

quatreyes For the one who already did their best at anything.

For all of you using nen:

"sai" (æ³) is used for age.

As in: 十七歳です。 (じゅうななさいです)

Hey all! I found another site for the basics:
http://web-japan.org/kidsweb/language/
Enjoy!
@聖竜: Okay, so I say "juuroku sai". Then do you use nen for school grade, like 7th grade?

Re: Japanese Learners Club ^.^
Link | by sai on 2008-05-30 11:05:33
My guess is there's no 7th grade in japan... Middle school 1st year maybe, so you call it chuugaku ichinensei. Yeah you use nen for school years. But now i kinda realized that i don't know how elementary grades are called! XD

elementary consists of 6 years so is it ichinensei through rokunensei? Somebody clarify this for me... :P
