GROUP 2 RESULTS JUDGE JOSH Jetrocks Song Choice: 2 - The song seemed to go just below what's comfortable to your natural range and above what's comfortable to you. I think what hurts you the most in picking this song is that you're not willing to open up. Technique: 2 - You stay on key and seem to be getting ahold of your vibratto but don't really display anything past that. I think you have a lovely voice, but you'll have to get used to using your diaphram to sing, as opposed to your throat. Interpretation: 1 - Like I said before, you have a lovely voice. However, you greatly lack feeling in your performance. The song has both sad and uplifting tones to it, but you leave us, as listeners, in this gray sort of limbo. Your volume rises, but you still seem afraid to be heard. When you hit those lound notes, try not to constrict your throat so much. Personal Appreciation: 2 - I belive you have a lot of potential that you've yet to realize. I'll be honest with you, that I didn't particularly enjoy this performance. But, you can do much better and I'd like to hear it. Overal Score: 7 Lisa22 Song Selection: 2 - You've got a sweet voice for a high energy song, which is fitting in this case. However, your voice gets lost in the lower notes. Technique: 2 - You're on key and you're clear most of the time but you don't do anything that's truly impressive and at times, you produce a "Pop~!" into the microphone. I'm not taking the microphone part into consideration, but just be wary of your mic placement when performing. ^_^;; Interpretation: 1 - You have this high energy song and this sweet voice, but you don't put out any energy of your own. At times, you even get lost within the mix completely. Work on opening up and make sure you turn your voice up when you record it so that it can be heard. Otherwise, there's little point to having lead vocals at all. Personal Appreciation: 1 - I really couldn't tell much of anything when listening to this recording. The music was definitely fun stuff, but that's all I really heard. Overall Score: 6 Cheebi Song Selection: 3 - It's well within your range, but the melody of the song really doesn't give you - as a performer - the freedom to expand and show off. Technique: 2 - You stay on key but come off unpleasantly strong. Part of this is the recording and microphone placement. But, a good deal of it is something that a lot people don't take into consideration when singing: vowel pronunciation - Certain vowel sounds are simply un-pleasant to hear in a song, so most professional vocalist tend not to use them. The way we do this is by replacement. The long i is pernounced ah rather than aye, the long e is pernounced eh, rather than ee in a lot of cases. Sometimes, oo is even switched with oh. (Usually in cases where it is used full voiced, as oo is very pretty at piano/pianissimo volume) Interpretation: 2 - Your technique with those vowel sounds bleeds into your interpretation of the song. Yes, the song is meant to be brash and strong, but in music, especially rock, there's a certain amount of cool that is required to take these strong, in-your-face performances and keep them sounding sweet to the ear. Another thing that hurts the interpretation is that the english translation was either done too literally or just plain badly, so the words all clump together without sense of poetry or flow. Personal Appreciation: 1 - Sit back, listen to the flow of things, think about what you're saying and let the subtleties of emotion into your performance. If the words don't flow out of your being and off of your tongue, they probably don't sound very good. Zauber77 Song Selection: 4 - The song is set well within your range and seems fitting for your vocal tamber. I'd say it's a very nice choice for you. Technique: 3 - You stick to the right notes, have a very nice vibratto and stick a few short runs here and there but miss a few as well. Interpretation: 2 - It's like you're on the verge of exciting but never really get there. As a judge, it's killing me. I want to here excited but I never get excited. You're like a guy in a suit with a surfboard who never actually rides it. You just hold the board and wear cool shades... It's killing me. >_< Personal Appreciation: 2 - Just ride the wave~! I mean, you've got a nice voice... But... Argh~! Overall Score: 11 Kazuha Chan Song Choice: 1 - The song is within your range and fits the tamber of your voice, but it's too difficult for you at this point. Technique: 0 - You're off key for most of the song and you don't really express any vocal techniques. I'd suggest working on your pitch. Sit down in front of a keyboard or piano, strike a note and try to sing it back. Record yourself while you do this to listen back to it. (Sometimes things sound different in your head than they actually do) Interpretation: 1 - I can hear the emotion in your voice but your lack of pitch hurts your interpretation. Personal Appreciation: 1 - You get a point for trying and I hope that you take my critiques to mind and improve. Overall Score: 3 Ashetoashesjc Song Selection: 4 - Hahahaha~! Acoustic versions are the best sometimes. Nice choice for other reasons that are more proffesional as well. Like, range and stuff and junk. Technique: 3 - Way to rock the vibratto. You lose pitch a few times in there, but nothing too bad. Interpretation: 4 - I don't know what the words mean, but I feel emotion and strife and at some point, triumph and regression and all that good stuff. What was I talking about, again? Oh, very nice, but there are some points where you can barely be heard. Personal Appreciation: 5 - That just plain made my day. You get a five... I wish people would make more days for me. I'm gonna run out if they don't. JUDGE PICK: Ashetooashesjc ******** JUDGE CHARLOTTE [Jetrocks] Song selection: 4 Technique: 3 Interpretation: 5 Personal Appreciation: 4 Comment: This song is really beautiful, and you really have a Shiina Ringo type thing going on with your voice. It's very cool. Your voice comes off as a little harsh sometimes, but overall this was great! [Lisa22] Song selection: 3 Technique: 3 Interpretation: 4 Personal Appreciation: 3 Comment: Your voice is really super cute, although it kind of got drowned out by the music in a few places. Great job! [Cheebi] Song selection: 4 Technique: 3 Interpretation: 3 Personal Appreciation: 4 Comment: This is seriously one of my most favorite animes, and I really liked that during the translation you kept the original feel of the song. You have a really powerful voice but I don't feel like you've gained control over all of it. Keep practicing because you seriously have a lot of talent! [Zauber77] Song selection: 5 Technique: 4 Interpretation: 5 Personal Appreciation: 5 Comment: You picked a song that totally shows off your voice, and what a voice to show off! I was totally rocking out to this recording! [Kazuha-chan] Song selection: 3 Technique: 2 Interpretation: 3 Personal Appreciation: 3 Comment: This is a really beautiful song, but I feel like you had a little trouble with the pitch. I would just say keep practicing and paying attention to detail. It seems like in a few places you kind of let your guard down at the end of sentances or phrases.
