Indeed. His improvements have been tremendous.

But I'm surprise that you only started "chasing" after tham 4 years ago DA. I would have thought you were one of their long term fan.

I knew them from quite long ago but I only really got into them when they reunited a couple of years back~

But unlike DA, I'm not so hardworking... so basically I only go for their songs... (yeah... I guess the looks does play a part too)...

Well I didn't truly get into more anime until after 2000 or so, as far as I remember,
and I was still new to Japanese music, but Laruku was my first band and is now my favorite ever.
Though I've know them for a short time period, I know a LOT about them. ^_~`

What do you mean about hardworking? Am I... working? :3

Hahah! I too only really got into anime after 2000. But I was exposed to Japanese music much earlier. I still remeber the first Japanes song I heard on Radio was way back in 1996 (wasn't even in elementary school then). "Say Yes" by Changi & Asuka (not sure if I got their names right) and i guess it was since that Japanes songs and I had an inseperable fate. The 1st album I loved was by Speed... and subsequently I fell in love with more Japanese Artist~ Can't remember excetly when I first got to know of Laruku though. But I was surprised to see I has a small piece of their pic cut out from some magazines, and was lying around in my room for years (the dust tells it all) when I found it a couple of years back.

Well, you did "work" to find out about them~ XD

i got into japanese songs back in 2000 too. xD. but yeah, i did notice hyde's voice change. experience and stuffs i guess. you can compare his voice back in their indies (the Dune album maybe), and his recent voice, wow.

His voice is somehow always scratchy when they tour US.
Their Awake tour was kinda rough, especially for HYDE,
though I heard his voice was sore before coming to America... :O

tetsu and Yukihiro have always been consistent, and Ken rarely messes up.
I hope they perform "Snow Drop" again this year, cause it's been a while hearing that live.
I think the last time I've seen it live, it was a performance ten years ago. O.o`

I also think "LOST HEAVEN" has to be one of their most underrated singles ever.
Compared to their other more popular singles, "Lost Heaven" is pretty darn good and catchy.
After I heard it, I loved it. After seeing it for the Ed credits for the FMA movie, I loved it even more.

Hmm... maybe HYDE is prone to environment changes... you know like how some people take a longer time to adjust to a new climate thingy.

Lost heaven is nice...Seventh Heaven is nice too... just... well... don't watch that strange looking PV?

DA, have you gone for their live concerts before?

I'd love to go to one of their concerts. I wish I went to Paris to see them in Paris.
Even with the low quality fan videos, his voice just sounded amazing.

Though when they do lives, I don't like every song they do, it's just me, it's natural.
Plus I live in a state where Japanese media is not really highly exploited, so that kinda blows.

I totally know how you feel. And Europe gets all the good stuffs, like MUCC, alice nine, all the vkei stuffs. Does The Queen like Jmusic? XD

Hahah!!! Perhaps that why they get so much stuff... :(

Or perhaps is the other way? The Japanese like Europe/The Queen!

But I do know in general, Japanese like France... is like how Hong Kongers like Canada (thats why so many of them migrated there before 1997 right?)...

Region 2 = Europe, Japan, right?
I think there's one more, not sure though.

But anyways, Europe, unlike American, totally accepts Japanese Music with open arms.
J-Music is totally admired and loved in European countries unlike in the US where it's totally discriminated against.
Though I know some areas love Japanese media (like California, a bit of NY, etc.).

A few Visual bands do well in Europe, and Dir en Grey is loved in the west side of Europe, too.
Though with these notes, it's quite understandable with America and international music...

WOW! I didn't know that Europe totally accepts Japanese Music... thats good to hear.

Even so I know that HYDE has had at least one concert in USA... and he commented that those people who attented were not "heated" enough.

Okay I don't live in Europe, so don't quote me, but a lot of it, yes.
They had an "AWAKE" tour in the US, was kinda rough.

They also had the one concert where they all match, which is rare for them, haha.
A similar comment came from Toshiya for their one shows on their Family Values Tour (search "dir en grey dvd rip" on youtube).

Though at that one show on Laruku's AWAKE tour,
you can find a few clips maybe on YouTube, the crowd was singing a lot to "LOST HEAVEN" which was nice. ^_~`
Also, "AWAKE" was supposively some US only thing, too. Strange.

L'ARC-EN-CIEL / SHINE

ABOUT TIME. DDx . roflll.

anywho, they look old in this video.xDDD

Yeah, thanks for reminding me of it's two week RELEASE DATE!!
The video is simply beautiful. A lot more colorful than "MY HEART DRAWS A DREAM",
though that MV had that black-white-tan (brown) theme to it, which was nice.

I'll have to listen to this song a few hundred times to see if it surpasses 'MHDAD' in mah system.
I've already sung it a few times, pretty much mastered the TV Sized version.

About them looking old, technically, they are old but are probably better than ever.
I still say that they're in their prime, right now.
Once they're done with their friggin' hiatus-solo project work, they're gonna probably sound even better!

Mo~~ You have to be nuts not to love this band. So good. (●>ω<●)

Inorite DA?
I love how hyde can like, control his voice for songs. its like, AWESOME.

Re: L'Arc~en~Ciel....
Link | by devils-angel on 2008-08-14 07:49:39
lol, I thought you said "ignorant", I was like, "what!?" XD

HYDE can control his highs and lows a lot better because his vibrato is developed (mature).
Before, he didn't really have a vibrato (if not one at all), it was just the sound of his voice.

Automatically if you listen to their songs and albums by year,
you can tell (just by listening) that his voice begins to expand and you hear his vibrato.

I say they're well beyond their prime in these modern days,
simply because the band has matured to a very high point, including HYDE's role as the vocalist.

Wuuu~ The shine vid has lotsa colors~ nice effects too but... it does distort HYDE's face at times =X

Even though they have grown older (I could see age on Tetsu's face... T.T), HYDE seems to have never aged... perhaps he's like what Gackt would like to be... a Vampire~~~ muhahah!! But with that face, how can anyone not love the band!!

I really got into them with Daybreak's Bell when I heard it in Gundam 00, but I haven't found other songs from them.

Err... I like their songs, but I don't really know much about em except that they made openings for some animes like FMA and Gundam 00. I wonder if they'll be the ones who makes the opening for Gundam 00's 2nd season...
