Does anyone know if Fate/EXTRA and/or Fate/Unlimited Codes will be ported to PS3? Fate/EXTRA was recently added on the PSN, and I searched around and heard it might be ported to PS3. I know Sony announced a while ago that PSP games would be playable or they would port PSP games to PS3 in the future, though I don't know exactly when they'll start this process, I'm just curious. Cause I know Japan still supports the PS2 dearly, I just wish they started making PS3 versions as well.

Dunno about Fate/EXTRA.. but I can tell ya Fate Unlimited Codes is only on PS2 and PSP... No future plan to bring the game to PS3 for now. They need to upgrade the visual on both games if they really wanted to port it to PS3. For Fate Unlimited Codes, they need to add LOT of things if they wanted to port it to PS3. The reason is simple. The current Fate Unlimited Codes only takes about 1.4GB on PS2 DVD... Imagine such small number on Blu-Ray disc... Kinda not worth it. Probably adding more character from Fate/Zero, Fate/Stay Night and Fate/Hollow Ataraxia. The character I like to see on the new Fate Unlimited Codes are:- Alexander The Great "Bluebeard" Gilles de Rais Lancelot Hassan Angra Mainyu Emiya Kiritsugu Tohsaka Tokiomi Kayneth El-Melloi Archibald Kid Gilgamesh (On "color" selection) |

Well in today's cases, most games are made on PS3 and [if planned prior to release] would release PS2 versions (slimmed down). It's better that way cause they'd have an easier time to adjust with graphics and whatnot, in my opinion. Most sports games from EA and whatnot, are like that, so I don't see why they make the game(s) for PS3 first, then port back down to PS2/PSP/etc. There's going to be a PC release for the new MB game, why are they not making something for PS3? I just feel like they have absolutely no interest in making something for the PS3. I'm sure they have the money for it, maybe not? If they want to make something with crazy 3D like Final Fantasy, than that might be understandable, since the best thing they've done that has touched 3D is maybe Unlimited Codes. They're mostly known for their 2D stuff, but even their later MB games still have great quality. I just don't understand, as a fan and PS3 owner, why they haven't even touched the PS3 console. Japan supports PS2 so much, compared to America who completely threw away the original XBOX. EDIT: After watching Fate/Zero now, I wish they'd remake Tsukihime, too. :(

Have you take a look at PS3 hardware, Xbox 360 hardware and PS2 hardware? It probably due to PS3 complicated hardware makes it hard to port games. The sole reason why during earlier years of PS3, Xbox 360 version looks better even in reality PS3 offer greater power than Xbox 360. The PS3 using a processor called "Cell Broadband Engine" which is a single core (Power Processor Element - PPE) controlling 6 sub-core (Synergistic Processing Element - SPE). Think this as one 'leader' with 6 'subordinate'. Which is different technology than processor the one you find in Xbox 360 and PC. It works by 'the leader' distribute workload to the 'subordinate' and return the result to 'the leader'. It sounds simple but coders find this rather tricky. Most earlier port only using 'the leader' processing power and leaving all 'subordinate' doing nothing. As result PS3 got pathetic port for example Bayonetta. 2D games might be okay since they probably not gonna use everything in PS3, but that depends on the coders. Next possible reason for not porting to PS3 is probably due to PS3 market itself. Compare to PS2 market, PS3 is rather small. I don't know the exact number, but some site claims that PS2 market surpass Xbox 360, PS3 and Nintendo WII market combined together. So decision to stay on PS2 is a good business, you don't have to hire new coders, or train your current coders to make the game work on PS3. Well, this works until Sony finally drop the support for PS2. (Playstation cycle is around 10 years) Remake Tsukihime? How could you 'remake' something that doesn't exist? LOL Yea I hope Ufotable make an adaptation of Tsukihime, and Fate/Stay Night - Heavenly Feel Route. EDIT - Somehow... Heavenly Feel Route feels like the 'real' sequel to Fate/Zero. |

Well all your fancy talk about port might make sense for porting up to the PS3, but doesn't answer anything about possibly going reverse and making games for PS3 then trimming down which to me, sounds more sufficient. Also what you're saying about the PS2 surpassing XBOX 360, PS3, and Wii together is a load of bull. I know for sure the PS2 still sells more than 360 does [in Japan], but who cares about that fact anyways. These days who buys a brand new PS2, when most fans have had one or still have one for years. Wii's dying as they prepare for their new console, though 360 and PS3 are still the two strong lions going at it. Until you post some reliable source, that is nothing but a complete lie. In today's generation, no way. I know Sony supports their systems well, I've already said that about the PS2 already here... Can't remake Tsukihime cause it doesn't exist? I guess you never saw the anime then... Also someone stated earlier in this thread that the VN was being remade.

Reversing from PS3 to PS2 probably not as complicated as porting to PS3. I don't know the detail since I'm not working on coding. EDIT - Even if they decided to begin from PS3 it doesn't change the fact they need new coders for PS3. Since the PS3 system is very much different from the last-gen console. PS2 market surpassing PS3, 360 and Wii was a few years ago. I don't know if the it is already change recently. With the price of PS3 dropping it could already on par with PS2 at this moment. On the other hand if we consider the poor country still dominating the world population, PS2 maybe still dominating the market, but the number is shrinking fast. For example, in Malaysia (not a very poor country, but as example), PS3 slim cost about 1/3 from what a teacher (bachelor of education degree, fresh graduate) could earn. That is not include the PS Move package, or a HD TV for that matter. So, until Sony drop the support on PS2, it will remain as primary choice for gamer in developing country. About Tsukihime, I know there's an adaptation called "Shingetsutan Tsukihime" but it is so terrible that most Tsukihime fan (visual novel fan) refuse to accept "Shingetsutan Tsukihime" as the adaptation to the visual novel. You probably never heard the "There is no Tsukihime anime" meme around the net... |

I doubt it'd be that difficult since so many low level companies have already done it. Although they haven't tried it yet, I'm more than positive they can do it. Yeah in today's sales, it's mainly just 360 and PS3, although it gets older every year. There's no sense making a big deal out of who sells what more since everyone is just joining the party later. Although I used to make fun of it if 360 won, only cause of all the RRODs and whatnot. ;P I live in NA, so the 3rd Gen consoles are much superior, however PS2 is already a legendary and arguable the most successful console ever. However as years comes the PS2 won't be able to reign as it sort of does now, but it's already done so much for the gaming world. lol, oh you meant this, yeah I HATED the anime so much, though it does exist, I'm not delusion to that extent (plus I never finished Tsukihime VN :'( ). I still need to see that Girl's Day.

@da - VN is superior than the anime adaptation... Similar case to Fate/Stay Night, but worse than that. I don't blame the fan if they totally rejected Shingetsutan Tsukihime. @Umbreon - There's no official release date or whatsoever on Fate/Apocrypha. It suppose to be MMORPG, which probably on PC platform. But I'm not putting so much hope on this project being MMORPG though, because MMORPG suppose to be a huge battlefield, and the developer need more than a few legendary character as servant. Without variety of servants, the game will be dull and uninteresting. |

[@Umbreon] Yeah I actually read a bit about it, and I like the characters in that series!! It said they canceled the game project but they're going to work on new stuff next month so we'll see. I wish they could just turn it into some RPG, y'know? Since they seem to venture into that genre with Fate/EXTRA, maybe this'll be the start of a new type of RPG and if it's from Type-Moon you know it's gonna be epic!! I'm not a big turn based RPG fan myself, but if it's Type-Moon I'll definitely check it out for sure!! Wouldn't it be awesome if they made a Dissidia version for Type-Moon's characters? That might be the end of the world though... XD [@RDH] Yeah I agree, the VN is far superior to the anime series which always leaves out key moments. Then again it's hard to really make a 20+ episode series on Fate when there's simply not enough episodes to show all the epicness that exists. [EDIT] Wow, wtf, 13 episodes for Fate/Zero? Why on earth are they cutting it short?? I did read on animetake that someone said S2 out by March or so, but still...

Guess what? The latest Carnival Phantasm comes with 2 great surprise... One of them is the new Melty Blood game and the other one is this...![]() This 12-minutes teaser (refuse to call it OVA) featuring the original cast for Fate/Stay Night, Sajyou Ayaka and Archtype Saber. ![]() This is Sajyou Ayaka. Isn't she cute? heh... heh... heh... ![]() Guess who? ![]() If you haven't watch this teaser, I'm suggesting you start watching it now. It got some serious idea, and I seriously think Type-Moon should push Fate/Prototype into production. Made anime out of it or VN. If they planning to bring it to anime, just make sure it will be epic like Fate/Zero. Studio DEEN cannot make good adaptation. Get company like Ufotable for god sake! Here more shots... ![]() ![]() |

New MB game for what platform, PS2 and PC only? :O I like the look of this Prototype, I'd prefer they finish Zero with a huge bang first cause I'm still disappointed they split it. Type-Moon is a big company, they should have enough of a budget to make 24+ episode series though. Don't know much of this but anything Fate I'm convinced is epic and will be epic. With that other Girl's Day OVA, aren't they going the anime first route instead of VN? I still need to see that but I haven't found it yet. And one episode so far or just some started OVA. Just random to bring it up now, but me and my friend was talking about Zero the one night, and [with other details in between] I thought about how awesome it'd be if they made a Dissidia out of the Fate characters! What do you think about that? I want to play those games but they unfortunately don't head towards the PS3... :(

Oh, come to think of it, I'm at this club, ain't I? Playing Fate/Extra. Extra Saber is great. I want that game to be animated. Along with Melty Blood. Hollow Ataraxia and Kagetsu Tohya would be nice too, but due to their specifications, I doubt it. As for Carnival Phantasm, sure, red Saber appearing at the end of last episode was surprising, but if I think about it, Phantasmoon appearing was waaaaay more surprising. Isn't she from Battle Moon Wars, an UNOFFICIAL game? How come Type-Moon feature her in their creation? What? New Melty Blood game for PC?! AWWWWWWW YEAAAAAHHH! |
