何(nani)燕(tsubame)燕(tsubame) = nani tsubame tsubame Literal translation >D.But basically, chinese and japanese names are very different so you can't translate chinese names into japanese names but you can use the kanji version of the japanese names as chinese names.I was told by some teacher about a rule between the two languages but I think she lied... AHHH SCREW HER >_ You'd get this on the generator though : 浜野 Hamano (seaside field) åƒç§‹ Chiaki (very fine in autumn) |

| hi..my name is Ryu (dragon) Iezagawa , (dis one i dunno) |

Re: What's your japanese name?
|
| Sorry, but doubt I can. It's basically how it is written and what it means.何 is pronounced as he (her for english) in chinese but is pronounced as nani in japanese.Which in both languages also mean "what". As for 燕(yan), it means sparrow in japanese and the romaji for sparrow is tsubame.Although able to translate chinese into japanese, names are kinda different. You can't translate names changing the way it is written, pronounced or spelt. So even if you have some weird ass name like "adsjkagg", it would still be pronounced and written in roman letters as "adsjkagg".So yea, names are one thing which you can't change it's pronounciation just cause you want to. |

But you forget that the Japanese also read those characters more than one way. So in other words, you can transliterate the name to Japanese, only it would take a good amount of time and effort to make it come out right. ![]() ![]() |

Re: What's your japanese name?

| Nupe. Didn't forget that. If it was written in kanji and translated into english, it would mean "what swallow swallow". Well, for 何, if you don't want nani, I guess you could take "nanda" which is also the same. But for 燕, there is only one reading to it and it is Tsubame. It's the name of an animal so the theory is that, you don't see someone calling a dog something else. Like names are just... names. |

LoL.. You do have a point there ç†å.. But you don't have to translate it to english.. I thought that you guys have another pronouncation for every kanji word? Like for 陀, U guys can change it to 'za' without following its original pronouncation rite? So maybe there is another pronouncation for 燕 and 何.. But you cant compare names to animals rite?

You still don't know what I mean. You can still transliterate the name to Japanese, but it would take a good amount of time to get it just right. Translating it into Japanese would be what you said (what, swallow, swallow), but transliterating is another game. You can take the different readings for both characters and come up with something new. Edit: Also, with "nanda", you need to add 'ã ' to the end of '何'. ![]() ![]() |

| Uhhh... Lol. Anyways It's at the top section where there's a search thingy. Choose JDict Names and input whatever you want. If it's chinese, change it to Kanji ***, english, change it to English, Romaji, change it to Romaji/English.It's Kanji something which I apparently forgot =/. |
