Re: Does Crying make you feel better afterwards?

I cry when there are sad happenings, like when a family member passed away I cry when I'm immersed in nostalgia, remembering good memories of the past I cry when I hear songs that are very touching or very reflective but I never cry when I face troubles and problems in my life (stresses), because it is inefficient and is a big waste of energy. It's like running away from the problems, and signifies a weakness, which I hate a lot. I always look for solutions for my troubles, not crying

I haven't cried since 2003 till 2008. I can't remember when at that year and why I started crying again but I always cry when watching Clannad and Clannad~After Story~, especialy on episode 18 of Clannad~After Story~ no matter how many times I watch it. (T-T) Sorry kinda got off topic there, well the point is that it does feel better when you cry because you purge those negative feelings out from your body and soul. |

| I think crying is just an outward behavioral action that is caused by the person's lack of ability to handle a given situation or stimulus. It is there for others to notice and, if they care, hopefully be able to help guide you through the given situation. So does crying really help if the problem is never truly solved? In my opinion, nope. But I guess you could call it an outlet for your pent up emotions. So it can't hurt to do it anyway. |

no. for me. i believe that when you cry it will just show that you are losing hope.. i read in the manga before.. (IIRC it is Liar Game) when nao was crying at that time.. akiyama said to her.. "What's the point of crying?, it will not solve anything so stand up and think what to do instead of crying.." not exact phrase.. but i believe in that principle... he's right.. rather than crying do something that will help you solve that problem...

Honestly crying would make me feel better and somewhat "lighter". Sorta like, the dread feelings are being removed from my chest. I'd cry all out then pick myself up. |

Crying doesnt help imo. It just shows you cant deal with the situation at a mature level.

I dint read most of the posts so forgive me if I repeat anything. To me crying is just an expression of a feeling(obviously :P) and we all know that suppression is not healthy for your psych. So if you cant just cant handle the feelings don't suppress...you will have something much stronger to deal with later. But Ive also herd that if you express your feelings its going to cause recurrences but will not come back stronger if you don't suppress.I don't like getting carried away, and I don't like to force whatever I'm feeling out of the way either... I just let it happen, don't get identified, don't express or suppress(seems impossible right, especially in the moment,I know)...Wait...be passive and alert. But if that does not work for you I suppose you can cry it out,no harm done, but your in for some occasional crying sessions. |

Depends on what im crying about. If I'm crying about the death of a loved one, no, not really. If im crying because of anger, then yes. |

For some odd reason, after crying, you will feel a whole lot better than before! It's kinda like a reset button for emotions i think.... |

It depends. Holding it in physically hurts, it gives me the worst migrane headache. When I cry, I feel better physically. Mentally, it depends where I am. I can ususally hold it in until I'm alone, however.

hmm..i guess so. When I cry, I let my feelings out so I feel better after crying. But sometimes, you do feel numb after crying too. |

Yes. :) Whenever I finish crying I can think more clearly and I can control my emotions properly, unlike when I am in the process of crying--I can't control myself, it's as if I am a wild person. :O ![]() |

Sometimes it does, and sometimes it doesn't. Crying can sometimes bring me a happier state of feeling but at times, it makes me much more angrier than I could be. |

NO crying doesn't help me at all. it's just a way i deal with my many, many problems. but it doesn't make me feel better, i mean, it doesn't take my problems away! After i cry, I usually want to cry a little more affterwards, but i can't because i already let out all my tears and no more will come :< |

"Boys grow stronger with every tear they shed" I know it's a kiddy phrase, but, I believe its true. We all grow up by pain and hardship. we just learn to get by through these experiences. Crying is another form of learning. Wether we feel better or not, that I cannot say, but I sure can say crying makes us stronger.

Crying makes me feel worst in my opinion. If I cry I want to do something that I know I would regret later if I did. I think crying is just showing weakness, just whining and not doing. If something upset me, I want to do something about it. Like if something happens, I want to move on, keep on going, just get up and shoot down the stars. I don't want to aim for the stars. Because when your aiming for the stars, your just thinking about it. When you shoot down the stars, you conquer and finish your goal. That's what I believe. I thinking crying is just pointless. If your depress, then do something about it, not just sit around. That's just what I think. ![]() |
