It's not as complicated as tabletop RPGs, we don't have calculations or anything here, just writing ^^
This RP will be heavily story based, but I wanted to give it a little gaming feeling to it so that the players won't be bored by just using their writing skills.

Once you understand how to build your character, you'll find that I wasted too much time with the combat traits, for a feature that only covers on how you build your fight scenes (especially when you're fighting with -or against- other players) ^^;;


@emiya:

ANY type of characters are welcomed in this RP. Musclebound grapplers, cyborg pirate, ninja zombie, suicide bombers, psychotic president, even doll-hugging magical girls xD
They don't REQUIRE any skills, you ARE the one who will BUILD your own characters' skill, it's up to your imagination to create them. Like, take the INFIGHT trait to build a grappler who is an expert at close range fighting, or take the POTENTIAL trait to build a character who has a hidden power that will be activated when he's near death.

Don't think too much about the combat traits, they only serve as a guideline and limitations to "what you can, and cannot do in a fight scene", this is mainly to avoid having a main character who is good at everything in a fight.

and don't mistake combat traits for "special ability", they're different, and you'll be given one slot for your special ability later. Special ability is like, "Psychokinesis", "Super strength", "Flame manipulation", "innate fighting instinct", basically things like that ^^a
You have to choose one though, between HAVING A SPECIAL ABILITY -OR- HAVING A WEAPON WITH SPECIAL ABILITY (Heavenly Arms, Zanpakutou, etc.)

I haven't thought about musicians having damage-based spells, that is up to the players to create, seriously. You can create anything you want, this RP is about unlimited freedom (the only limitation is your combat traits). For me, I prefer to use my music to "bring peace" like the macross series.
A good musician example would be Ugo's character "Aru Maussa" from the musician RP, she can create spells by composing a harmony of notes. You can make them to be damage-based.
However, do note that if you want to make your musician spells to be damaging, it won't be an element-based damage, EVEN IF YOU PICKED ONE OF THE ELEMENTAL TRAITS.

Okay, most of you must be very confused regarding this new combat traits stuff. Worry not, I'll guide you through building the traits step by step.


an example of building your combat traits

My character has
MAGI* --- INFIGHT --- GUARD --- QUICKCAST --- ELEMENTAL: FIRE --- FIGHTING HEART

That means that my character specializes on quickcasting close range combinations of fire-melee, is tough to crack, and can't be caught off guard with a surprise attack because he oozes adrenaline.

I want to create a scene where my character is pummeled to near-death, and have a glorious comeback with extra power. Unfortunately, I can't do that since I don't have the POTENTIAL trait.
I also can't create a scene where my character builds a molotov bomb mid-battle with ingredients from the warehouse since I don't have the ENVIRONMENTAL trait.
I can't perform healing magic in a combat, nor can I play music. I don't have the healer and musicianship.

Emiya stated grapplers, let's use it for example. Grapplers need to have the INFIGHT trait to show that they really are an expert of close range fighting, able to zero in the gap between them and their enemy in a split second (this is very useful when your character clashes against another player's character, so that you won't exchange a lot of posts and the other player knows what are your specialties)

Zangief: "Eat this you musclebrain!" *locks Daimon with a grapple and tries to throw him*

Daimon: *quickly releases the lock* "This is child's play!"

Zangief: "Wha-! How can you escape that one!"

Daimon: "It's because I have the INFIGHT trait and you don't, you idiot, I'm more skilled in melee fighting"
*proceed to pummel Zangief* Hm?! You're good! You didn't flinch after my super punch!

Zangief: "That's because I have the friggin GUARD!"

in conclusion, combat traits is like...... you impose yourself with your own limitations and follow it thoroughly, something like that...
This may sound ridiculous at first, but it is very useful to create a balanced fight scene, especially when you're against another player.
Note that the traits not only apply for a fight with fellow players, it also applies when you are facing a villain in your story.
That's why I'll be keeping an eye on EACH and EVERY of the player's characters so that you won't deviate from your traits.

This RP focuses on teaming up against villains, not pitting your character against another player character. That's just 'in case' where you have to fight against another player's main character, you'll find the combat traits to be very useful as you can gauge your opponent ability and compare it to yours. And it's also useful to gauge the powers of your teammates to know what are your weaknesses that can be covered by them.

Do note that the combat traits serve as your character's action outline. The combat itself is up to your imagination and writing, really, there's no combat system here, only a guideline of "what you can and cannot do with your character".



And if you think that having a combat trait only limits your creativity in making a combat scene, you can always have your supporting character beside your main ones:

In this RP the character type will be divided into:

- Main Characters --> You can only have 5 main characters. YOU MUST BUILD THEIR COMBAT TRAITS. The control of the characters are specially locked for your use only. MAIN CHARACTERS CANNOT BE KILLED OFF.

- Supporting Characters --> You can create as many supporting characters as you want. Their course of action in a fight is unlimited, NO NEED TO SET UP THEIR COMBAT TRAITS. They are FREE TO CONTROL BY ALL OF THE PLAYERS. THEY CAN BE KILLED OFF (To a certain extent. Please have the player's permission first before killing a support character).
VILLAINS ARE INCLUDED IN AS SUPPORTING CHARACTERS, FREE TO CONTROL BY ALL THE PLAYERS. This is to quicken the pace of the story since normally, a battle with your designated villain will take about 7-10 posts alone.

tips:

since they ARE the supporting characters and they have an UNLIMITED course of action, you can make them do what your main characters can't do in a combat (supporting your main characters).
Also, other players CAN control your created villains and exchange blows with them in a combat. Like what I've said above, you can shorten the time of a battle against your designated villain into 3-4 posts by letting other players control them and drive them out. Okay, you might not understand it at this moment, but as the story goes by, you'll understand what I mean.

I'm sure that many of you went like "WTF is this?" after seeing such a long post of nonsensical combat traits (seriously, you'll be surprised at how TRULY nonsensical it is when you've finished building your character ^^;;), so I'll post a part of the FAQ regarding this combat traits...

FAQ --- question 4-10 (regarding skills, combat traits, and character uses)


Q: “How if I want to create skills like Hadoken or Burning Knuckle or…”

A: Just create it. It’s not considered a special ability or something that is imposed by traits, just your personal combat maneuver. At first I’m confused as whether to include Qigong as a combat trait or not (to ensure that you are able to use Ki-blasts or ki-powered technique), but seeing that Ki-powered skills are a staple to action RPs, it probably is a bad idea to make it into a combat trait (in other words, you MUST have the Qigong trait to be able to launch ki-based skills, yes sounds like a bad idea alright).

However, if you’re creating things like a set of kung-fu moves covered in flames -which you can freely create- (like Kusanagi Kyo's 'Kusanagi Flame', Hanabishi Rekka's 'Hokage' flame, or Sawada Tsunayoshi’s ‘Dying Will’ flame), THAT IS CONSIDERED A SPECIAL ABILITY (Flame Manipulation), NOT JUST A COMBAT MANEUVER IMBUED BY AN ELEMENTAL (like, the FIRE only appears when you hit the enemy), YOU MUST MOVE IT TO THE SPECIAL ABILITY SECTION.


Q: "Err, I still don't understand about this new combat traits thingy... Can you repeat?"

A: Don't worry, you'll get the hang of it soon. Combat traits is like the "outline" of your character's course of action in combat, DON'T THINK ABOUT IT TOO MUCH IF IT CONFUSES YOU. I know that many of you ARE confused, but don't think about it too much, I don't want it to confuse you even before the RP starts.

For those who prefer to create normal combat scenes, just read the "combat traits list" slowly and pick what you want, simple. For those who want to make extravagant fight scenes, you can take your time and think of a good character build. Note that you have a maximum of 5 main characters to build.


Q: “Um, the combat traits section is confusing, can I pass on that?”

A: Yes of course, and you can pick them later as the story goes. In fact, you can pick them one at a time (eg: pick three on the beginning, pick the fourth after a scene, and pick the last two after defeating your rival). But do remember that you cannot do specific actions in combat with your main character if you haven’t picked the corresponding trait (eg: You can’t suddenly shield a damsel in distress if you don’t have the COVER skill)

If you're saying that you want to skip the combat traits wholly, then your character becomes a supporting character. Read the question below for further explanation.


Q: “How about the supporting characters’ course of action in combat? Do I have to set their combat traits, too?”

A: Nope. Supporting characters –including villains- have an unlimited course of action in combat, EXCEPT MUSICIANSHIP FOR VILLAINS (since the music feature is in testing stage). Hell, you can even let them do the actions which you are not capable of. Before you even think of, “Hey so supporting characters are better!” remember that THEY ARE FREE TO CONTROL BY ALL OF THE PLAYERS.

Let's say that B is my supporting char, and I am talking with him in a scene when suddenly YOUR character appears and greet me. NOW THIS IS WHERE THE IT COMES TO PLAY

Usually, you'll wait for my next post to reply your greeting, and we'll engage in 2-3 posts of exchanging information in a conversation right? But since I have B, you can just greet me, interact in a conversation with B, and proceed to tell us what are you coming for (why are you here) ALL IN ONE POST! Even better, you can drag us off to the next scene

Example, you want us to support you in a fight, you can just drag us off to your fight scene just by making B approves it.

It's not like you are powerplaying, no, it's an ELEMENT OF TURN-BASED STORYTELLING. Does it save your time? YES! Not just that, you'll discover the handiness of supporting characters as the game goes deeper and deeper. It's utterly impossible to finish your storyline without the usefulness of the supporting characters seriously.


Q: “Hey, I want to turn a supporting character to be one of my 5 main characters. Can I do that?”

A: Yes you can, and you also can do the reverse process of upgrading a main character to a supporting character (usually if your main character's story is fully developed and you already finished his story arc, you'll do this).
Please DO NOT abuse this feature to move a single character back and forth from being a main to a support and vice versa (you can change a single character’s status back and forth but please DO NOT do this too often, I'll set a limitation later since this feature MAY or MAY NOT BE HANDY).


Q: "Hm? If I change one of my main characters into a supporting character, what will happen to their combat traits?"

A: They retain their original combat traits when you change them back into a main character. Also, when you are changing one of your supporting characters into a main character, you HAVE TO SET UP THEIR COMBAT TRAITS STARTING FROM SIX SLOTS (even when your other characters already got the additional slots). Treat this like building a new character from scratch.
Due to this feature, there will be hundreds of combat traits with dozens of characters, I'll post a list of your characters and combat traits after the game starts.


Q: "Come to think of it... Can I make one of my main characters to be a villain?"

A: Yes! But you see, it's better for villains to be a supporting character instead. Since it would take a long time if you get into battle with another player character and have to reply each other posts like days or so.
On the other hand, when the villain is a supporting character, he is free to control and other players can create their combat scenes with said villain. The latter saves so much time that it'll amaze you when you are playing.

The glossary is somewhat like a mini dictionary that contains info about specific terms in the world (eg: "Heavenly Arms", "Gods", "Grand Families"). You WILL find it to be very useful.

also what combat trait would shadow clones/selves or illusions due to very fast movement fall onto?

Edit: shoot the entire cast of type moon as supporting chars... well that removes 2 chars already...

well, the last thing I want is for people to get confused by my explanation and it seems that I've confused you guys T-T
The story consists on multiple characters' background story. We'll deal with each of our character's problems one by one, maybe after all of the party has gathered together. This is similar to the KH concept to an extent.
Since there's only one history with so many entries from all of the RPs, it's nice to link your character's story here and there with the other RPs.
I'll post my character as an example later, he's halfway finished.
The main plot for the RP focuses on linking this world and the world on chapter 2.


@Kay:
You don't have to import your characters, THE WHOLE WORLD IS ALREADY IMPORTED :D
Just choose from that dozens of characters, who are you going to pick as the 5 mains, the rest will be supporting characters. I have to prepare a database for the characters since there will be loads and loads of them.

and there's a problem with those Heavenly Arm users whose players are non-active.
Will you retain their original characters (Zpartan, Key, Reinhart, etc. to be the supporting cast), or give slots to newcomers to be the new Heavenly Arm users?

Bunshin... haven't thought of it before. But since it borders on being a special ability, you can divide it to...

- Permanent Bunshin ---> A permanent cloning technique in battles where the clone has full grasp of the movement and a "soul", this is considered a SPECIAL ABILITY.

- Bunshin-no-jutsu ---> A ninja technique to create illusions of your own body, this is considered your personal technique, no need for traits.

- High speed split image ---> This is a technique where your character purposely moves so fast (most of the time circling your opponent) that he leaves splitting images to confuse your opponent. This is just a personal technique, no need for traits. This is different than the natural bunshin below,

- Bunshin (after image) ---> This is an after image of your character due to his very fast movement. This is hard to decide since it borders on having a super speed, or just very experienced in combats. If your character speed is really superhuman (like "The Flash") that they leave after images, or if they have an innate fighting instinct with subconscious reflexes that produces high speed and flexibility, then you have to move it to the SPECIAL ABILITY section.

But if he is just "very experienced" that he can produce split images with his high speed, apply the formula:

INFIGHT + SENSE + MANEUVERABILITY = High moving speed.


Treat "SENSE" like rhythm, and "MANEUVERABILITY" like agility. "INFIGHT" is the trick to which you can zero in your gap with the opponent (shukuchihou). With the three of them, your character has a very high speed.

Note that the "very experienced" case is not a special ability, so don't overuse it.


Um, no, the entire type-moon cast is in the 2nd chapter of this RP. This 1st chapter will be somewhat like a warming-up.
The 2nd chapter will have loads and loads of characters and twisting stories.

and come to think of it, you have more than one Kotaro Murakami. I think you should change one of their names, or omit the character.

Well, if I'm gonna take characters from AWP2, that's gonna be a toughie (cause I'm sure taking him in), cause he has say what...5 or more special abilities a few more special weapons and stuff...yup a big toughie...
As for characters from Valkyrja, we could give slots but retain the characters original skills, name bio etc etc

Man at his twenties, Fenris has always enjoyed the company of others and an occasional drink, joyful and humorous man he enjoys life
to it's fullest, making friends wherever he travels ,making a living with his music and his skill with the sword.
In battle however he is a fearful presence inspiring terror and awe in the hearts of his enemies and allies alike.

Background Story:
Born into a family of traveling performers, Fenris learnt to sing and play and dance almost before he could walk and as soon as he could
his father started training him in the way of the sword, or Bushido as he called it. After his 15th birthday Fenris left his family and started
traveling alone in the world. He employed the skills he had been taught to make a living as performer and mercenary. Short while after his
19th birthday he was reunited with his family on a mountain road. They were traveling into same direction and Fenris joined them without
hesitation as he had no plans anyway. Soon after they were ambushed by bandits further up the mountain. Fenris' father was wounded in
the initial volley of arrows, this drove Fenris into a fury as the bandits abandoned their bows and started approaching the wagons they were
traveling in with swords drawn. The bandits never expected to find a berserker traveling with performers and so after Fenris had slain the
first wave the rest fled the scene, leaving the broken bodies of their comrades and a bloodsoaked berserker behind them. Fenris fell after
the battle due to the wounds he had received during his fury. When he awoke his father was sitting next to him and explained what had happened.
Fenris decided not dwell on things of the past and he left his parents again after he had fully recovered. Few months afterwards he saved a
monk from bandits who had ambushed her, thankful of her rescue she took him to the monastery where she and her fellow monks resided and
they made him a member of their monastic order, Order of the Thunder, as was their custom and taught him their techniques.

Mainly uses sword forged by one of his friends. This sword is named Yosamu, the Night Chill

Due to the training he received from Order of the Thunder he has enhanced speed and reflexes. His reflexes are so fast that it seems
as he is anticipating his opponents moves before they start. He is also able to move at the speed of lightning for 1 second every 13
seconds. This means he can travel almost 42 kilometres in one second. But using this ability more than thrice a 13 hour period will cause
some damage to himself too and he can't use it more than 10 times per 13 hour period.




Yeah, he is a musician/swordsman.
So tell me what you think.


Also I would like to know how the extra traits are given to a character?

PS. does the event in the story count as one use of fury?

@H: oh I see so I guess I can still use them... as for kotaro... well seeing that mana drive is dead I can change that kotaro's his name.. then again I just recycled that kotaro's profile character...

he's bound to have the personality, skills and looks even if change the name and that would look awkward if they ever meet since he's practically the same person... I also don't want to omit him... now this is a drag... I'll see what I can do about this little dilemma of mine...

also TY on the bunshins... I think the one I have in mind is closer to the first one...

also on the character BGM's... a lot of Imeems = bandwith = loading time slowdown... not good for the slow internet users(like myself) thugh it was a good idea.. maybe we can just give out a link or so to the song and it's up to the reader if he opens it or not

Not to mention that he has the same name as the one in Valkyrja.

you can try to post your own interpretations of your character using the combat traits and limitations, reducing their powers here and there, and I can take a look first,

or a better option, leave him as a supporting character instead. As I stated above, supporting characters have an unlimited course of action in combat, you can make them to be a master at everything.
And yes, the supporting characters CAN USE GODMODE, TO A CERTAIN EXTENT OF COURSE. You know, like an old kung-fu master that is good at everything and act only when the heroes are in danger, or those dark knights who appeared out of nowhere and started to kill the enemy singlehandedly with multielemental burst -in which said enemy almost killed the entire party-.
Don't use godmode too much though, as the other players also can control said supporting character if they are on the same scene as you.

or even a better option, you start being stripped off of your powers and slowly progresses through the game trying to recover it (like my Kyuusei Shin from Ties of Blood). After you have your full power back, you can change your character into a supporting character.

Your characters are really.... umm... Three of them has the same name Karuzo... Can you change it?

Just choose from that 13 characters, who are going to be your mains, the rest will join in the supporting cast.

nice, no problem with your character, but I think you might want to change the bg story after I release the official timeline, in case that you want to link here and there with the history.
Your special ability is kinda weak though, enhanced reflexes and speed is like having the trait SENSE. Except if you're saying that your reflexes and speed is really REALLY enhanced (able to react in split seconds before the attack lands?), then it's a different matter ^^

Nope, the count starts when the RP starts, so when you activated your fury mode in your background story, it's not included.

same person? Simple. You can try to make his story goes like, he was raised in Hydrogaea but later attended Constania university. After a few development here and there he was transferred out and returned to Hydrogaea, joining Keckz and friends.

It's still okay if you want them to be different characters, but I don't know how, try to come up with something ^^;;

I think I've confused you guys with the definition of supporting and main characters.

- Main characters are those that you wish to really develop, be it their storyline, their powers, everything. The usual scenario for main characters are brand new characters who will be guided by the characters from the previous RPs. You start the game using ONE main character, and "FIND" the other mains throughout the game.

- Supporting characters on the other hand, serves as a tool that helps to develop your main, and might or might not be weaker than the main -they can be a sidekick ex machina, your mentor, your captain, your super rival, your girlfriend, basically any other characters from the previous RPs who are not the mains-. Their stories are usually not as intense as the mains, and focuses on finishing their unfinished businesses rather than explaining things from zero.
You can start the game using virtually unlimited supporting characters.
All of the characters from the previous RPs start as being a supporting character. You just pick from the character pool, who will be your mains.


It's not necessarily that you need to have five mains. You can even focus on one main character and make the rest of the characters as your supporting cast.

You are given the full control of the supporting cast when you are alone with them and other players cannot just summon them to another part of the world (eg: you are traveling through the desert with your mentor, your mentor cannot be controlled by the other players). However, when you are with other players in a scene, they also have the rights to control the supporting cast involved in said scene (eg: you and your mentor AND your friends are fighting against a tough enemy, the other players CAN control your mentor).



Since most of the characters from AWP2 are........ Like Dragonball characters in comparison to Bleach characters.... I'll try my best to fix in the gap.
Either toning down the whole AWP2 to fit in the RP, or upgrading the power level of this RP itself to fit in the power level of AWP2.
If I do the latter, some of the characters will have a ridiculously high power level at the story's climax -notably the characters from AWP2 and my Kyuusei Shin-, and we'll have some Dragonball-ish scenes with kamehamehadokens and whatnots ^^;;

Heheh, right? We can say all the characters in AWP2 is problematic, even the new characters XD. I could tone down some stuff like I did when he was imported to a few other of Ugo's RPs (eg: Melancholy of Existence). But WHAT to tone down is the real question...
Oh well, I'll decide when it's time to decide.

Ok did a little rework on the special ability, probably overdid it, but...

And opinions are welcome from anyone ;)
I may still rethink my whole character as this one was done in about 30-60 minutes so, let's see.

AWP2 probably toning them down becasue the characters can be assessed but upgrading the RP would have MUCH adjustments

Well in my part i can use my weakest character so far... then the supporting character would be the next... I can planned for two days.... hehehehe

Reason: Etrnal eclipse's wielder, dark element Heavenly Arm can transform into a dragon and.... he is too much really

Reason: Future Technology and more dangerous than his Ties of Blood counterpart...

Think of this this guy can summon an insanely HUGE ALL-IN-ONE pack from the future and destroy half of a city

Ok, complete rework on the character and added a second character.

Still need to work out their backgrounds and other minor stuff but their Soul Skills, Combat Traits and
Special Abilities are worked out.

This weapon consist of three daggers, two of which are linked by a lenght of chain, Luna uses these two
to fight and to control her special ability.
The third dagger is carried by Fenris although he rarely uses it in battle while carrying he carries it Luna's special ability is enhanced.
Should Fenris lose the dagger Luna can recall it to her by simple command.


Special Ability:
The Ghost Concert
With Fenris carrying the third dagger of the Enigma the Ghost Concert can perform any song imaginable, should Fenris
lose the dagger he carries the concert will lose it's ability to replicate male singing thus decreasing it's ability.
If Fenris is physically present and performing with Luna they can unleash the maximum potential of the Ghost Concert.


Special Equipment:
While travelling in the mountain roads Fenris and Luna met a peculiar fellow at the peak of the mountain road.
He was holding onto a case made of some kind of metal and running away from bandits. Fenris and Luna dealt
with the bandits and as a sign of his gratitude he gave the case to them and told them that inside was a way to
reach the sky. Fenris and Luna bid farewell to the old man and as they watched him descend the mountain there
was a lightning that shot from clear sky and hit the old man. Fenris and Luna rushed to the spot but couldn't find
a single trace of the old man as if he had just disappeared. Curious they opened the case which they had been
given, inside there was two pairs of odd looking shoes. One pair was the color of autumn sky blue with a black
wind blowing through, the other was colored black with red and white flames, the colors were brighter and
different from everything they had seen before, but the oddest thing about those shoes was the fact that they
had wheels connected to them. Along with the shoes there were two memory crystals that contained the
instructions to how to use the shoes and why he had been in this world.

Eventually Luna and Fenris discovered a way to integrate the wheel parts of
the odd shoes into a more practical shoes and use magic to hide them when they
ere not used. They mainly use them for movin but recently thay have started to
use them in combat having acquired the necessary skills to effectively use them
in combat.

Hmm more question by the way xP Regarding about the special abilities I'm still blurry about it though. But here's an example that I have regarded as Special Abilities:

Special Ability

-Infinite Thrust
Croix(a character's name)quickly charge towards his target at a blinding speed and hits the target with multiple thrusts with extreme precision(nulls the Sense Trait) from his pike. In the end he stuns the target and does a jumping overhead attack which is capable of piercing even the thickest armors(nullifying the Guard trait).

It's kinda cheesy by the way xDD And is Ice element is classified under Water element?
