well.. i've been caught up in a patch of work, it happens from time to time. did anyone miss me? So.. when you said you were crossdressing, did you mean you're going to CF as Xellos?? Or did you mean getting into your role as Mikuru, the thread mascot? Everyone should practice it. I learnt it during my uni days, cos i shared a house with frens who did creative arts. Their creative juices usually go full swing when an assignment is due, and only in overnight working conditions. The zombie moodo kicks in when morning classes comes, you see XD After awhile it seemed so much fun, it was a mix of work and laughter to stay awake, I just naturally joined it to do my own assignments late in the night XD Bitter virgin.. I stopped reading that for awhile now. There's just too much anime + manga, I had to drop a few. And now, I suppose I wanna talk a bit about ACGC. I was there, if only for a few hours on Sunday. Nice venue, definitely nicer than the previous ACGC in Times Square. Ugh, that was so uncomfortable, in the open area where the 'normal' people stopped to oogle. At least the organizers got a proper hall this time. And it was still free entrance XD I reached there, had some time to spare before the start of the cosplay comp, so I checked out the booths. I wasn't particularly interested in games, so I headed right to the back. The AnimeTech and Wii "Fit" booths caught my attention though. At the back, they had a nice rest area with benches for the cosplayers. There was one company trading figures, I noticed they were getting their imports from MaxFactory, perhaps others as well. I lingered around mostly around the tables at the back. I wasn't planning on buying anything, so I guess I didn't want to scrutinize the stuff on sale too much, out of respect. Calenders, a couple were doing commissions, a few comics, not sure if there were doujinshis.. and other various anime/manga related items like keychains and statement tags. However, the people here were the most pleasant. I had a good feeling about them XD I wonder if they're affiliated with CF? They interacted and mingled around, compared to other booths where the people were hired salespersons. Cosplay competition. The rules confused me a bit.. no fixed format this time around, at first I thought it was group, but then I realised the individual can ask frens to help, even other contestants. The point was to 'be' the person you're cosplaying as. Spitfire and Spirit-kun acted out scenes from the anime/manga, not too original, but entertaining. Gaara's group dance was definitely crowd fav, heck 'her' costume was definitely the best IMHO, along with the L and Misa pair. At one point I cringed a bit when the announcer said "You bf is looking for you~" when Spirit was calling out for Maka 0_0 And now, to share some piccies. Over all I took some 70+ pics and mostly only of cosplayers, but 1/3 had to be discarded. I was using a Sony T300 digital camera, and unfortunately the hall lighting conditions, esp around the stage area wasn't good. But overall I suppose I phail a bit as a photographer T_T I hope to get a basic DSLR soon, before CF comes along. Photos were taken at 10MP, but resized to an upload friendly 640 x 480, and thumbnailed here. I couldn't bother to upload everything, since a lot weren't oogle worthy.                                 That last photo there, the lady wasn't part of ACGC. I saw her as I was leaving the place, and asked for a photo. She looked taken abacked, but okayed the request XD Something special, for you guys.. videos~! XD These two vids are of sudden, random dances after the prize giving ceremony. It started with the 'YMCA' song, unfortunately I did not get a video of that, I wasn't in a good position. Good thing I got into a better spot, although it's a pity I wasn't standing more at the center T_T As usual Hare Hare Yukai and Caramelldansen are popular. I was half expecting them to follow it up with Motteke~! Sailor Fuku~ but apparently the Dj just queued up those 2 songs and took a break. Now, these are totally random and unrehearsed, so dun expect too much. Still, it was really fun seeing them just let loose. I was smiling all the time I filmed this. The quality's not too good though, you can't make out the expressions. That's too bad, cos they were priceless XD Ok, enough talk.
