O.O , this thread is REALLY FALLING BEHIND REALLY FAST !!!!

Hi there , Eidraq a.k.a Eiman and Areniece Arekeylah , welcome ^^ .

Welcome back , Koala ^^ .

@Eshey Xaviee

O.O , you don't know at all ? Are you the Eshtar Xavier in that old thread ? Does sound alike O.o , anyway , I'll clear it out for you ^^ . The thread was locked was most probably because the thread musn't exist there , as stated in the rules (Did ask Gendou about it) , and a part of it is also because of a 'Lawbreaker' called Owdee Sh3h (I'm not sure what he did that makes him 'wanted' here) and whoever talks to him/her gets indefinite ban (MY KANA-CHAN ~~~~~~~~~~~!!! TT_______TT) for not reposting about him/her to Gendou (This is the only thing that still puzzle me most)

I'm not from Kuala Terengganu , but 'ter'reply :P .

@Eidraq
O_O , another Earth Day Supporter ^^ . Me too ^^ .

As for the second one , I agree with you too ^^ . It's better if they just leave the voice alone and put the subs instead . >.<

@Areniece Arekeylah
The 'peak' had just past , but the event still goes on . So there won't be anymore of those 'big things' anymore shown in newspapers but you can notice it by the types of articles posted in it ^^ .

I agree with you ^^ . But to be honest , the english dubbed is a lil' better than those of Malays but if it was looked from afar , it's still the same to me >.< . But I won't blame the Malay subs , as they are very new to this anime dubbings (To make it worse , only one company is doing all this dubbing to malay language , which is Karya Nusa company) .

@Honey' Ko
'Negaraku' ? Where ? Where ? XDDDD

That's it for now . Later .

@Eshey Xaviee
O.O , your name do sound alike the one got banned for talking to Owdee Sh3h ..... Nyah , lupakanlah >.<

Well , this article is in the 'world' section , so this thing might be happening at Singapore (Straits Times says it all XD) , I believe .

Well , I'm pretty sure it won't happen (If so , it won't be that serious I think) since anime influence is still fresh here ^^ .

gendou-san is right, guys. If you're a first-time poster to this thread, then by all means introduce yourself, but leave comments/thoughts as well on the current topic in discussion. Currently, if i'm not mistaken, it's about the Odex Wars, as some gendounians have termed it which is happening in our neighbour Singapore.

Now, I'm not much into legal stuff, so take my comments with a pinch of salt (it means DUN TAKE THEM SERIOUSLY~! XD)

Downloading all and any animes is wrong??? O.M.G.. now Odex may be right to a certain extent, but who are they to act on behalf of all the licensing companies?

Fact 1: Not all animes that are produced in Japan get licensed. Typically, licensing companies wait and see if that paticular anime is well received before they invest in it. So what happens if you wanna watch an anime that is never going to see the light of licensing?

Also, licensing takes waaaaayyy too long a time. Sometimes over a year after the series is finished. So you may be stuck waiting for the licensing to come; or it may never will. Isn't it nicer to download and watch it a few days after it just airs on Japan tv? That way you can be part of the discussion as the plot grows. Nobody wants to talk about old animes. (Disclaimer: this paragraph was typed in the mindset of an anime fan XD)

Fact 2: Fan-subbed animes have been around for quite a looooong while now. They have always been and will forever be, made for fans, by fans. They are always free and it is considered really ebil to sell fan-subs to ignorant buyers. Some fan-sub groups (i will not name names here) do not request for and will not receive any monetary compensation, or donations whatsoever. Isn't this like the case of the guy who went and translated the last Harry Potter book into french and uploaded into the net? Did his a** get sued by J.K. Rowling? No. Why? The reason was bcos he never made any profit and never intended to make any profit out of it.

Now, some fan-subbers DO ask for donations (again, no names here). These fan-subbers, however will stop subbing an anime AND remove all past links to subbed episodes of that anime once it is licensed. Well, it sometimes takes a C&D letter (cease and desist, a legal term to stop doing something) by the licensing companies for them to get their a** moving, but they will eventually remove the links. Or at least the fan-subs that I follow do. The files that continue circulating in torrents by various 'seeds' (err.. hard to explain this one, if you download from torrents you should know) here and there are another story altogether.....

So there. Like I said before.. Odex maybe right to a certain extent. Downloading licensed anime is wrong. Find out if the licensed anime is available in your country first before resorting to downloads. But if that paticular licensed anime does not reach the shores of Singapore, who are Odex to stop fans from enjoying anime?

Now, back to the current sitaution in our lovely Malaysia XD Hopefully, we will never have to 'go to war' like our cousins. *fingers crossed* Personally, I have bought a few 'original' animes and I have been really disappointed. One was clearly a fan-sub.. the nerve of the ppl selling the hard work of fan-subbers~! Oh well, my fault for not testing it out first.

I dun think I'm ever going to buy licensed animes, bcos by the time they come out, i've already watched them. Fan-subbed. Just how I like them. XD The way i see it, the only way for this situation to change is that the whole licensing process should evolve. There was a time when Hollywood movies took some time to reach Asian shores. The results were illegal downloads and ended up when the actual movies came to our cinemas, many ppl had already watched them. Nowadays, big mega-budget movies are made into simultaneous world-wide opening days. I dun think anime producing companies and licensing companies can cooperate on that level, though.

Anyway....Sorry for the uber long post. Peace~!

Oh, btw.. my frens from Singapore regularly bring their laptops back and copy my animes into their external hard disks.
