I don't really know... since when I was a little I knew how to speak japanese. Okay... let's see... I guess I was happy cause I knew how to communicate it with my grandparents. |

| when i learned japanese, i was excited and happy because at least, i know another language besides english and filipino... and when i knew how to read and write hiragana and katakana, i was very happy because i can read little japanese... :) |

I'm a very shy person, so when I first took jpanese 1 I was very nerous and scared that I would sound ridiculous.
I think I'm a nubcake without 1337sauce :(.

Ni nen mae ni boku wa sukoshi hazukashikatta desu kara nihon go ga hajimete o benkyo shimashita. Ano toki wa Nihon go ga nanimo wakaranai to omoimasu. Demo, moshi jikan ga modotara, boku wa zenzen hazukashii kunai. Traslation: 2 years ago, I was a little embarrassed because it was my first time learning japanese language. At that time, i think I knew nothing about japanese language. But if I can turn back time, i will not feel embarrass at all. |

I started learning Japanese this year, since May. At first, it's a little bit confusing to distinguish meanings of words, but now, watashiwa daijobou dah....   |

I've always wanted to learn japanese since I was in elementary school, but my parents didn't approve of it. In my current school, japanese is an elective subject, but my parents couldn't pay for it cause it was S$180 per month, including my brother's hostel fees of S$500+ per month. However, with the help of my friends, I'm slowly picking up japanese, though it's not good enough to be put into use. =(

| for me im having an easier time with Japanese then English (my native language) out of the 4 classes i have the semester my highest grade is in Japanese (95) =) |

LOL.. humm, at first i remember I LOVE IT.. at the beginning.. it was really cool and fun. Than when the grammar part came in, i realized it's actually really really HARD. :D

I self study~ but then it was great~ need to learn more tho xD I "might" take japanese class in school if I have time~ but if not then just continuing self study. |

I was really happy when I learned hiragana and katakana, so I could sound out raw manga, and kind of understand 10% of it...if it had furigana with the kanji... Now I'm too lazy to learn kanji. I studied 1st grade level for a while, and then got lazy -_- I do remember random kanji pronunciations from manga though. So it's not a totally lost cause I guess <(=^_^=)>
Life is short. Watch all the anime you can :)

It was quite funny for me, since I didnt intend to learn the laguage at the first place. I was just somehow interested in Japanese culture, also in anime and I knew those basic "anime" frases... Then, after some time and a lot of anime, I have heard some japanese song and I sudenly realised I can underestand parts of the lyrics. I uderestood most of the song, and I was suprised and really happy. Sadly, its virtually imposible to study japanese in my country if your at high school, so though I woud like to study the language more seriously, I have to stick to one textbook and wait til Im out of school for now... |

I guess knowing Chinese and being good at languages in general made my first year of Japanese as easy as it can get without knowing the language in advance. My appetite for learning was voracious, so I was pretty frustrated when we spent a whole SEMESTER on hiragana and katakana when I memorized them in the first week. As it turned out, I knew more kanji than my teacher so I also hit a roadblock there early on. Still, the whole culture part of it was fairly new and really interesting and I was glad that I could finally pick out song lyrics and eventually start to grasp anime/manga and some TV after the first year. I've been doing a lot of self-study outside of my classes so although I'm in my third year of it my level is a little beyond that. I'll probably help tutor the underclassmen next year since I don't think anyone should have that much trouble taking a whole year to learn a simple alphabet and a couple dozen kanji.
Maka here is an wonderful example of why it's a bad idea to home school your children.
Maybe also a good example of why inbreeding is a bad idea, although the paternity test has not been done to say for sure.
