High Five ukame, bull crap, indeed!

Not to bash the history channel, they're arguably better than the Discovery channel these days, but they still run some major bull crap programming. This program should not have been allowed on TV. I blame this history channel execs for allowing that crap on there. If it were fox, i'd understand, but these guys just lost some respect from me. Don't get me wrong, I'm all about alternative and strange theories, and giving crackpots an opportunity to make themselves look stupid. But there is a big difference between possibly true theories and totally stupid ones. For example, intelligent design is stupid, and not at all a theory. Despite what some suggest, it does not at all deserve to be considered a competing theory to the law of descent with modification as the origin of species and life.

In this case, poor saps like kirajc here are being feed stressful catastrophic nonsense, which gets good ratings but ultimately damages a young impressionable mind immensely.
This doomsday stuff is un-intelectual garbage, that only serves to incite fear and anxiety.
Well, not only that, i guess, because in me, it incites ANGER AND RAGE AND THROWING OF FORKS AND OTHER POINTY OBJECTS (at the TV of course. thankfully, it's a sturdy glass CRT, not a flimsy plastic-coated plasma).

The mayan culture was very advanced, in certain areas of mathematics.
They were able to accurately calculate the lengths of days, which is easy to do with a rock and cave wall.
You don't need an atomic clock, or any other modern technology.
In any case, it is not at all true that "they didnt have anything", quite the contrary, the mayans had diverse and sophisticated methods of food production, and, most interesting to me, a system of writing (nobody else in the americas had that at the time).

Please, for me, and for yourself, don't watch trashy pseudoscientific programming that masquerades as science.
It is evil, bad, stinky, and will give you colon cancer. Serious.
I know there isn't anything else on. Tough beans.
Go outside or read a book.

EDIT: Oh, and by the way, stupid people predict the end of the world all the time. here's just a few of the good ones:
