Hi,

I'm curious,lately I've heard a phrase "Kansai, Manzai?"

From what I know, Manzai(漫才) is a style of stand-up comedy in Japan, where two performers—a straight man (tsukkomi) and a funny man (boke)—trade jokes at great speed. Most of the jokes revolve around mutual misunderstandings, double-talk, puns and other verbal gags.

So...my doubts is, how is "Kansai" connected to "Manzai"? Ah...むちゃくちゃ X_O

i think it is analogous to "you might be a red neck if..." jokes being related to the south.
it is related to kansai because that is where it originated and it also uses the kansai-ben as its humor base.

Kansai-ben rocks. Wish they taught it as the standard for Japanese instructional teaching here in the U.S., but then again, it probably won't be as cool sounding. Luckilly for me, my sensei is from Osaka, so i get to hear all the kansai-ben all i want. Sugoi ya, sono honmanya kansai-ben. Nandeyone?! *slaps random person in the stomach* (Azumanga Daioh reference, more like, Osaka comedic routine reference)
