A question out of curiosity... how does one tell that autotune has been used in a song? I have listened to Rachie's Dummy Dummy cover, but I didn't realise at all, so I'm wondering...  |

Maze: Autotune, or other similar programs can be very subtle, but one who was been in the music industry, or a producer will be able to tell. While Rachie's Dummy Dummy entry was not all auto-tuned, there were parts that indeed used it...very subtly. So, it violated the rule. (I was unsure of it, so I sent it to a Producer friend who told me that autotune or a variation of it had been use at certain points...very, but very subtly). |

So detecting it is matter of experience, huh? Haha I suppose it'll take ages for me to be able to tell- thank you for the answer! Welp, now to prepare another recording just in case hahaha... not having free access to decent equipment is a pain;;; notlikeimgonnamakeitthroughbut... |

Yes..GUYS, PLEASE BE PREPARED TO HAVE ANOTHER RECORDING in case you move to round 2 :D Maze: Aaaaah I know the feeling! I just recently got my new microphone! I used to record with a computer one, or simply in front of a camera XD Dallia: I sincerely suggest you go record something :) *wink Puppet: LOL! DA, a girl? Hahahah, well it happens...no worries, a lot of people thought I was a guy o_o Bluey: It's not like a program they can detect, it's the sound of using auto-tune that gives it away. Producers know because they use it all the time now XD |

Pame, I can't really afford buying a good microphone, so a skype one is all I normally use... then again, I rarely recorded before at all. Instead, I rely on borrowing the microphone a friend of mine has (since he needs high quality sound for his animations). So the access is.. well. Very limited. Maybe someday, someday... Also, question, the winners of the first round were supposed to be announced sometime tomorrow if I'm not mistaken- but when I checked the GI8 page, it said they will be known in 4 days. I'm guessing the date changed but, just making sure! (Since it means additional time to record stuff...) |

Maze: Yes, I changed the date to make sure all of the judges have enough time to judge the 104 entries! It's a lot! XD Ayomay: You missed the sign-up period. Sorry. You will have to make sure you check the thread when the competition starts. Maybe next time. Bluey: Um, usually to get a sort of accurate way to know the range of someone, I would need a piano, play note by note and have the person sing them until I see what's their limits :) But I can get an idea just by listening to their song choice and the way it's sung. For example, let's say I'm a contralto. That means that I can hit very low notes. So, If I decide to go on a sing a song designated for a Soprano( in simple words a person who can sing very high)...that means I'm singing out of my range. The song will be too high for me. In my case, I will be able to tell someone is out of range by hearing the struggle the person has when trying to hit a certain note. I hope that answered your question ^-^ I always have a hard time explaining myself. XD |

@Puppet Haha, I was kidding. What avatar was it btw? I make a million. @.@ Umm, tea? In this 100 degree weather? YOU HAVE BEEN DISQUALIFIED!!!! @Maze Yeah the judges needed more time sorry, haha. Though it's a benefit for people to record if they make it to round 2. We're still trying to deal with the 4shared issue... make sure NOT to use 4shared if you used it in the previous round. It's been banned now basically, lol.
