Signature Size Limit

I was wondering when the signature size limit (combined not single) was introduced. Also it gives me a warning that it went over 100kb but still decides to put it on the signature. Just wondering if thats normal.

Well, back in nineteen aught eleventy fourteen, when gendou.com was first developed, the internetz was still in its infancy. It cried and pooped, and didn't have much information running through its brain. It was at this time that Gendou, in his almighty wisdom, said: "Thou shalt have a signature no greater in size than the volume of one large egg." One large egg having 100kb of volume back in those days. Did I mention that Kilobytes were a measure of volume back then. 1 byte being the amount of substance that one ant could fit in its mouth. There was also the nybble, which was half a byte. Ooops, getting off topic here. Anyway, back in those days 100kb was the equivalent information of one of those fold up maps that never goes back to its original folding pattern, and Gendou was all like: "It sure is aggravating to fold up one of those maps, so that's just as aggravating as I want the signatures on my site to be." And that is the story of the 100kb limit on signatures. At least that's how I heard it, from the friend of a friend of a cousin of a great-uncle.

As said there:
The images linked to in your signature/nickname should not exceed 100kbs total.

I must say, it should be followed. Cause it's the rule.
As in your case Doom, you can save you signatures as .jpg, so the size will become smaller. It's up to you which quality to set, as long as it dosen't exceed the limit.. XD

Some users are not aware that they exceed the limit. If a person is aware of the rule, then that person should be following it, right? XD

I hope it gets raised a bit in the future, because people don't understand how hard it is to keep things under 100kbs,
especially when you're already working with HQ images of either anime or realistic materials.

"Some users are not aware that they exceed the limit. If a person is aware of the rule, then that person should be following it, right? XD"

That's true, but it's unfair that people can and can't exceed the limit simply because they read the darn FAQ/rules.
In a sense of organization, people who exceed the limit have horrible sigs.
It's just like working with user profiles, people just pile a bunch of random stuff on there.
There is a profile kbs limit too, if people are even aware of that...

I have to agree with DA here.

To keep it under 100kb is pretty hard espically when using HQ images.

Also. When the warning pops up. That it reaches over 100kb, they are made aware of the rule. So ignoring that warning is Ignorance to it. I'm Not sure if there is a Warning that pops up when you reach over the profile limit but to the point. People are just basically ignoring it since they can just click ok and it will still put the signature on. I mean sure if its under 250 maybe 350kb then i wouldnt care. But if its over 1MB and nothing is stoping them from putting it on then there goes my download limit when i'm at home.

Overall. Ignorance to warnings is what happens.
