o.o i can't define which media player is better but i use media player 9 and it is still working well in XP installed codec and media player can be used to watch other formats than WAV actually it is quite good :3 the older version is kinda nice because i am not sure why but it seems that the older version is able to play with the contrast if your movies are not able to see well (suppose in a dark screen),you are able to use the contrast and adjust the brightness so that you can see   |

Media Player Classic for video JetAudio when I want to sing coz I feel comfortable with the the lyrics viewer RealPlayer to play music and great for editing info Billy when hearing only (very fast player with super small memory use)

Yes indeed, foobar2000 is a better music player. But, personally, Real Player 10 is the best one. And using Media Player Classic for playing video is a perfect choice.  |

I'm using CyberLink PowerDVD 9, VLC Media Player, And Windows Media Player.... I recommend to use CyberLink PowerDVD 9!  |

can't say what's best, but i've been using Winamp ever since - works good w/ all my media files on the plus side, it comes w/ a variety of awesome skins :)  |

Music - Windows Media Player 11 is the one I'm using now. The link to MSN it has is about all I want in terms of extra features, so for me it works fine. I tried using WinAmp because of the cool anime and game themes I kept seeing all over the web, but I wasn't able to actually find any good ones myself, so I eventually just went back to using WMP. Video - Sometimes WMP 11, but mostly it's VLC because of all the media types it's able to play. I also like the higher volume level which WMP lacks. Sometimes videos or music come out a bit too quiet and I personally like things a little loud when wearing headphones. There's not really a media player that I would consider the 'best' to use. I have a bunch of different media players because they all do poorly when handling certain forms of media at one time or another. Some do the job better than others, some do certain file formats better than others, and I've had times where the video or song itself seems better on another player in the same format.    |

i'd say VLC... dont blame me koz my whole family if has a pc will install VLC on their pc b4 any other programmes. P.L.U.S. GOM Player, not 1 music/video format has never not been able 2 play on GOM Player.........   |

I still use the same products on my Mac, just instead of WMP, I upgraded to Apple iTunes, which rocks. Still bummed there isn't a Zoom Mac compatible version though, for playing Matroska files. D:

Media player classic. works on basically all video types. Zune for music is my opinion.  |

Guess I like it simple: Windows: Media Player Classic (videos), Foobar2k (music) Linux: MPlayer (videos), my own modified somewhat slimmed down version of Quod Libet with a few usability issues (imo) fixed (music) |
