Re: T-Cell

Oh DA I wasn't asking for a "save + return to play later" option but a "kill myself instantly and keep current score". This is because eventually I get tired and just want to quit and save my score but I can't because my nodes are too powerful (1400 HP) so I have to manually kill myself which drains points (No! My 100 000!). I've noticed something very odd in the process of killing myself. When you start losing a bunch of nodes, like 19 down to 6, I'm not sure if it is intentional but controlling the nodes become so much more difficult. It's like you automatically have forced momentum which makes it very hard to recover yourself when you're low on HP since you'll just crash and take damage instead of eating to replenish HP. |

Maybe both could be added as a feature. "START NEW GAME", "SAVE CURRENT GAME", "SUBMIT SCORE AND QUIT". XD synai brings up something there, too. I've had issues sometimes when you later get larger nodes, it's harder to stop, thus you have to move by clicks or else the momentum of your mid-section and tail will drift you further. Overall though, I haven't had a major issue with this, other than reg bugs from behind trying to eat my tail where I have to U-Turn it and save my butt. :P lol, I'm still wondering how I 'crashed' last time. Literally, nodes from the tail up just flew away. |

No DA, I was referring to when you're low on HP. I know how to control the nodes regardless of their size but when you're in danger of gaming over, it's during that moment when it doesn't matter what you do, controlling the nodes is like trying to steer your car on black ice. One more thing I'll add is when you have taken a bug down to near death (to the point of just a dot) hovering over them won't show their HP and if you zoom out you can't even see them. I remember level 42 I searched almost the perimeter thinking gendou was being mean and hiding a bug in one of the corners but it turned out it was just so small around the central area. A radar idea was nice in thought, but I think the hunt is part of the challenge. Perhaps make those bugs easier to see on the zoom out. |

DA sorry about the bug, the physics is a little tricky. Large oscillations can chain react and get out of control. I changed some of the spring constants which should fix the bug, or at least make it less likely. At the start of each level, you now start in the center of the map. I don't think I'll enable saving the game. You can pause it and come back later if you want, but I want scores to be based on game play that involves risk. If you want to quit, you can navigate away from the page. On maximum zoom out, you can see even the smallest bugs as 1px by design. Statistics of the random walk will keep the bugs from leaving the observable screen at maximum zoom out for several minutes. If loosing the bugs is a problem, try adjusting your strategy. I have compensated for the navigation difficulty Synai mentioned by increasing the drag constant a tiny bit at the start of each level. Oh, and the game starts off in low quality by default, since that seems more useful for most people.

Oh this blows, my new high score was not submitted. >_<;; Or maybe now scores take a while to load up? I like the idea of starting near the center at the start of each level. The only flaw sometimes is that a bug will be right on your tail, thus when you click to start you loose nodes, but overall, it doesn't hurt you that badly when your nodes are larger. |

You're score wasn't submitted? Shoot. Did it give you an error message? What time exactly did this happen? Yeah, I might add a time-out at the beginning of each level.

I like the game, but I have the same comment that DA has, sometimes your tail spawns right on top of the bugs and you lose out right away. Also, the red guys don't seem to take any initiative. Any contact they made with the green dots was kind of accidental. Do they do more 'attacking' as you get to higher levels? I got to level 25 and had to quit, I was getting 'Tetris-vision'. |

I have added the time-out at the beginning of teach level. Hopefully it will be enough time for you to tuck in your tail. I want to add more complex behavior and maybe special abilities. If you have specific ideas, let me know.

Zomg, nooooooo. I was on level 77 until my tail was about to 'crash' again, and before it was too late I had to submit my score and quit when I only saw four of my nodes together. I was trying to get to level 100, seriously. -____-" haha. Ugh, bummer. I was easily on pace for it, too. During one of the later levels, I started playing around with re-attaching the nodes. I made like, some weird space ship (not really) type figure: ![]() Bad idea if you wanna "experiment" THIS late though. I then wanted to make my normal, 'snake' figure again, which took 18 minutes to so! ![]() ![]() ![]() [@Gen-dono] Yeah, it was really weird. This time it did though, luckily or I would've flipped, haha. It happened a few minutes before I made that post, but I don't remember exactly, sorry. I didn't get any error message or anything. Just that pop up saying "high score submitted" and I clicked okay and went on. Playing this game non-stop really takes a toll on my wrist/hand. I thought about pausing it, and trying again later/next day, but I'm scared something'll happen while I'm away. |

Nice job!! I've found that the most efficient configuration is a starfish with about level/10+1 arms. I may be able to fix the problem of nodes flying to infinity if I can find a way to reliably reproduce the bug. I will keep trying. Oh, in version 1.3 I added a "play time" datum to the high score record.

DA: I see you've gotten into the game also.. XD w/n my almost 4 days of vacation w/o my laptop... this game had further developed.. XD /play to give some feedback once more... edit: so far... +the bg tiles were fixed... XD though since I am playing on a unit w/ very low specs... it made it slower even in the lowest quality setting. DX same thing when you have more nodes, cells, and bugs present.. the slower it gets. aside from those normal things... everything's working, the navigation isn't much of a problem now... the bugs are intact like erk.. XD My classes would start next week, so I dunno if I would have time to beat DA's score, nor even enter the list of 10. aha...

Is the time datum run on hours, seconds, and minutes, or days, hours, and minutes? And also, does time keep getting recorded while you pause the game or even while you pause? [@Keiri] My score is not that high, not what my main goal was when I set it anyways, which was to get to level 100. Maybe over next weekend, I'll try 100 or 1,000,000 points (whichever first). :D Also, when you get more nodes, is it supposed to slow down? lol, juggling 100+ nodes is rough. XD |

DA: I think there's one possibility for that: More images (nodes, bugs, cells)= more process needed.. so yeah it gets slower... though back then in the very first versions w/o the bg... it runs smoothly even if you have 80+ nodes... only problem is navigation... XD the tail keep hitting some bugs... DX

Right now, the game does not take advantage of graphics cards, so game speed can easily be effected at higher levels. I will try to make the game take advantage of graphics cards this week. Play time is in the format hh:mm:ss, and includes time that passes while paused, but maybe I will fix this. UPDATE: Version 1.4 is released with much improved rendering. Also, I had to clear the high scores, sorry about that!

Curse you Gen-dono. Well, no matter. I wanted to beat my original high score another day anyways. :P I like your screen caps provided on the first post. When do you start forming your starfish (level wise)? The figure below it looks like the mother ship! That's the same figure as the one above it, just without moving, correct? |

Correct. I tend to have level/10+1 arms (1 tail on level 1-9, 2 tails on level 10-19, etc.).
