I think the best antivirus are:
1. Norton Antivirus
2. Smadav
3. Panda Antivirus
4. Ansav Beta
5. Kapersky

I've try Avast!, Avira, and Norton. The result that I find is the Avira is the best, followed by Avast! and Norton.

My Avira is the free edition, but done better job than both Avast! and Norton.

I use Avast Pro 4, I guess and it does it's job just fine. Well it's better than most of the antiviruses I've used, like NOD32 or Bitdefender.

class ____ { public static void main(String args[]) { String _____ = " rekcah swodniw avaj rehtona tsuj"; int ___=((8*4)*(2-1))-1;while(___>(2.68954F*(56.45735F-56.45735F))) {System.out.print(_____.charAt(___));___--;}}}

I think it's doesn't matter what your antivirus is. Each antivirus has its plus and minus respectively. The important thing is to keep your antivirus up-to-date, no matter which antivirus you have.

@don1

It matters a lot on which Antivirus software you're using. It's true that each Antivirus has its plus and minus respectively but,
if you compare Avira Premium to AVG Freeware version, it matters.

@above:
is true, if you compared the premium versus free version, of course the premium version is the best... -_-
I'm talking about brand here. Many of you all posting about antivirus brand. I think it's no use to talk about the perfomance between the brand, just keeps your antivirus up-to-date and buy their premium edition (of course, if you can... ^_^)

What's more of a rip off than that is how you have to purchase updated versions of your program,
when all there is are basic simple features which in retrospect, are just newly added updates,
and for most programs like mines, they already update automatically, so charging 40$ to update every year, is a rip off.

hi there,
I use both Kaspersky Internet Security 2010 and Avira Free Edition,
well because,
Kaspersky Internet Security 2010 can be obtained legally but free in a way
and Avira is good at detecting virus..
It actually found infections that Kaspersky didn't found.
Thumbs up to Avira Free

Just a note:

It is not good to have multiple anti-virus programs on your computer. They can clash with each other and lead to lessened security.

I use McAfee.

Panda Global Protection (Paid ver). Works better than Kasperky for me :) I have experience tweaking my comp a lil. Started off with Norton, full scan then installed Avira, full scanned and got few virus caught. then McAfee, able to scan out more. Then Kasperky, which detected a lot of virus (10+), then finally Panda, which detected 2. My friend uses Kasperky (paid ver), and we exchange data via drives, but I still detect some that her Kasperky can't :P (I use only 1 antivirus at a time. Using more than 1 damages your comp slowwwly~)

For me antivirus program is making my computer slower...
So,I removes all of my antivirus program..
But,The effect is my computer isn't purely clear of virus...
But to avoid them...
I always check my task manager to check what programs are running in my computer that time..
Everytime I see some odd think...
I Alwasy Press "End Program"..
If the program running back automaticly..
I decide that is virus/worm...
So,To delete them..
I using Ubuntu, that installed to my computer to..
Delete all of them...
So,I think my self is antivirus program..
Hhe..^^
